They've definitely grown on me, I couldn't see my Rover without them now. Ultimately it depends on the "Look" your after, these trucks are so versatile they look good as street trucks or off roaders.

Thanks Gilbert

Coming from you with that beautiful Linley, that is a very high compliment. Really appreciate it!

Installed the Safari lights a few weeks ago. Lots of driving in 90F degree weather and no increase in temps. The LR stickers at the top of the lights did fall off though, I could use a new set if anyone knows where to pick some up.

WOW! That is fantastic work! Can't wait to see the finished product!

Personally I'd keep using it and check the oil levely more often than you would otherwise.

I think you guys are right. After a hard 200 mile trip, with no breaks, I only lost another spoonful. Checked the oil level just now and it is still full. Should be good to go for this weekend.

It's been leaking since i bought her..

The seal has already failed lol

Lol....yea I've been getting mixed results from searches online, some say stop driving and get it fixed ASAP. Others say just make sure it's topped up every other week or so.

I've only noticed the leak about 3 weeks ago, put about 300 miles on it and it doesn't seem to be getting much worse. Fluid is always full when I check it...Did 200 miles straight yesterday, going to check tonight if there was significant loss of fluid or not. Fingers crossed.

Pulled the inspection port off the bellhousing and found the Input shaft seal for the Autobox is leaking..

Argh!

Not too much of a ballache!

But still annoying!

I have this exact same issue, it's certainly not leaking enough to leave a puddle, more like a spoon full after 50 or so miles. But I'm supposed to take a 500 mile round trip this weekend.... dunno if I should take the Rover, wouldn't want to have the seal let go and leave me stranded.

In either case the transmission has to come out to replace the seal = $$$$ Just when I thought I had sorted everything.

Yup, happened to me yesterday. Google chrome wouldn't load the site, gave an error message that said that someone was trying to steal my information, it only happened when I logged onto this site.

Very Nice! Looks like a great trail. Are you driving a tank? Looks a turret at the top of screen haha.

I see, interesting stuff. Some of those ramblers have a point, some of the country side should be preserved as is. However some of it should be open for recreational use, a decent balance is needed.

I didn't actually think the government was going to seize anyone's land, I was cheekily pointing out that when countries did, under the guise of communism, it didn't work out quite well ;) We too also have something called Eminent Domain here in the States where they can seize your land with payment.

I fully support private property rights and I believe government should be small and powerless as possible. Although, I must admit, it seems that I am a beneficiary of government procurement of frontier lands. Thanks to conversationalists like John Muir we get to enjoy National Parks like Yosemite and Yellowstone. Along those same lines we also have state funded Off Highway Vehicle Parks like Pismo Beach and Hollister Hills. I guess not all government programs are bad haha, although these lands were never in the private ownership of anyone before the government claimed them. I guess that is the benefit of having huge swaths of wide-open land.

They bought it, they own it, they can do what they want with it. Historically, government seizing land from owners has never been good for the public.....

It's the legislators making laws banning use of green lanes no? Seems like the lobby that wants to ban recreational off road use is a lot stronger than the lobby fighting to keep them open.

Jesus Christ. You guys need a revolution or something, the liberal nanny state is ridiculous.

Meh, I'd just pay the membership fee, seems like they're putting the money to good use fixing the trails and such. Probably a lot of LR guys that are members on there as well, you might just find the flock after all.

There's always going to be those few people that seem to think they own the trail. It's a bit frustrating really because they can hike literally anywhere they want where as we are limited to certain trails where we can go off road, but that's life.

Absolutely, last week I fitted a new heater core and did the blend motors. While taking the dash off I managed to break the glove box latch and more bulbs in the dash seemed to have burnt out during the project as well. :(

That said, it's no longer pissing coolant into the passenger compartment and the notebook symbol is gone, so I've got that going for me.

Haha, it's actually not that much better here, at least in the SF Bay Area. There are 2 off-road parks here but both are about 90 minutes away, and once you've been there a few times you've done everything there is to do, and it's not very scenic.

There are lots of trails in the Sierra Mountains but that's at least a 3 hour drive, which does make for great camping trips, but means that getting out in the bush is huge commitment. So I actually get to play with the Rover only a few times a year :( I guess I shouldn't complain though, it could be worse. Environmentalists tried to get the Pismo Beach Sand Dunes shut down, luckily that was unsuccessful.

Have you tried the uk equivalent of trails.com or offroadtrails.com? Sites like that, and local off road forums, will generally point you in the right direction for finding new trails.

I know what you mean, seems like they were able to drive where ever they wanted rather than having to stick to a "trail". Not only did it do well, it was towing a UTV while doing it, pretty impressive. That thing had some really nice articulation going on.

It would be nice to be out in the bush with a flock of P38's :) I will say that I am lucky enough to have a huge Land Rover club in the area but no other P38's :(

The infamous yellow Jeep of Matt's Off Road Recovery! Very entertaining channel. Utah is quite beautiful indeed, I hope to make it up there one day soon. The dunes look a lot softer than the hard-packed sand dunes we got here in California.

The trail at the top of my list right now is Shut Eye Peak, hoping to get out there some time before the end of the year.

Unfortunately the best video of the trail is filled with Toyotas :(

I was changing the diff fluid in the rover. As I usually do, I jacked up one side of the axle to drain the last bit of fluid. Once all the fluid was out, I went to put the magnetic diff plug back in, but I could not find it. I spent about an hour tearing up the garage looking for it. I seriously contemplated over-nighting one from Atlantic British and then, out of no where, it hit me. The plug is magnetic, the jack is metal. Lo and behold attached to the side of the garage jack was the missing diff plug.

Needless to say I was pretty happy it was only a minor cock up.

RomanRob - I was actually referring to Gilbert in regards to dishing out. You've been nothing but a reasonable gentlemen.

GordronJCP - You don't watch videos? Ok....lol....anyways that's precisely the notion I was dispelling, but it seems you'd rather be upset so there's really no point in talking with you.

Leolito - My bad mate.
