his is a view of the wide screen head unit I have fitted to my P38. It came with front and rear cameras etc.enter image description here

!This is the view from the top camera, it could be angled down a little more but from there it will not see the tow bar.![enter image description here](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51301934291_f75b4d8a32_m.jpg "enter image title here")(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51302652644_8f6cd731f9_m.jpg "enter image title here")

Thanks Gilbert, I am working on it. Slowly.

Hi Guys, OK I have some photos, so how do I attach them to a message?
Thanks,
Alan Temperley

Hi AC6,
I mounted my camera up under the overhang covering the rear wiper. I removed the trim and drilled two 4 mil. holes and bolted it up with S/S bolts and lock nuts. It is mounted just to the left of the wiper arm and looks down and back. Running the wires was not that hard but took a while to get right. This camera feeds to the widescreen head unit and although it is only black and white it is very clear. There was a camera mounter down near the tow bar when I got the car so now this is connected to a screen mounted in the aftermarket rear vision mirror, for reversing back onto a trailer. I don't have any photos tonight but I could get some tomorrow if you are interested.

Hi Marshall,
yes I will fit the new sensors when they turn up, as that is quick and easy. Then if it is still playing up I will do some testing on the pins at the ecu. Other than this problem my P38 has been running really well. Or should I not say things like that or it might break down tomorrow.
Thanks,
Alan

Hi folks,
I have an engine light coming on regularly. When I check the codes I get P0327 and P0332, Knock background noise low, I have removed both sensors and cleaned the connectors and checked the wiring and it all looks good. I tried replacing the sensors with a second hand set and I still keep getting the engine light coming on. I have just ordered a new set of sensors and they should be here next week. Has any one else ever had these codes come up? If the back ground noise is low does that mean my engine is too quiet? But I think it would be more likely an electrical fault.
Thanks,
Alan

Hi, talk to Bespoke Leathering, they will have the dye and conditioner you need to make it look new again.

Alan

Hi Gilbert, well I have had a good day, I removed the knock sensors and cleaned the contacts and put a little more pressure on the contacts, and reassembled and then no more engine light glowing. I then moved on to the SRS air bag light, I removed the console and removed the air bag module and cleaned the contacts and reassembled, then cleared the faults twice and it came up with a open circuit at the P/S crash sensor. I cleaned the contacts on this and then cleared the fault and no more air bag light. I am very happy tonight. As long as there is no more faults waiting to pop up I will be happy.
Thanks for your help, Alan

Hi Gilbert,
OK, I will try that tomorrow. And I am going to have another go at getting the SRS air bag light to go out again. I have been driving my P38 a bit lately and I am loving it. The improvement in performance is amazing. I just need to fix these last couple of minor problems and I will be very happy. I am due to have more surgery on Monday to cut out more skin cancer so I won't be doing much after that for a while.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Folks,
I have both knock sensors bringing up codes, P0327 and P0332, knock background noise high bank A and B. I did replace the right knock sensor with a second hand one and the fault went away for a while. Has anyone had this problem before? I can clear the fault but it comes back after a little while. Should I just buy 2 new sensors and replace them and see what happens.
Thanks,
Alan

Hi Tanis, I am not trying to upgrade from 2 wheel TC to 4 wheel TC, I was just trying to confirm the early model P38 came with TC. I have checked the 3 of mine I have at home and they all have ALB+TC on the modulators. So I am thinking it is only 2 wheel TC.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Folks,
I checked all 3 brake modulators I have at home and they all have 'ALB+TC' engraved into the front of them. So I am guessing all the vehicles that came to Australia had TC. Maybe they thought all Aussies were such bad drivers we would need TC.
Regards, Alan

Hi Gilbert, I don't know if it means anything but my 1995 and 1996 P38's both have TC lights on the dash. And I have fitted the modulator from my 1998 parts car to the 1996 P38 after a brown undies moment one Saturday morning when the modulator shit itself when I was approaching an intersection full of vehicles at speed. Thank you for your information Gilbert.
Regards, Alan

Hi Gilbert,
So if a P38 does not have any TC is it just a matter of replacing the modulator with one off a later model?
Or do you need to fit the matching Wabco computer behind the glove box?
Can a P38 with no TC be changed to 2 wheel TC?
Can a P38 with no TC or 2 wheel TC be changed to 4wheel TC?
Thanks,
Alan

Hi Gilbert,
Thanks for that, I'll have a look in the morning. I have done too much again today. I pulled the Hurricane header off the right side of the motor, Re torqued the head to try to fix an oil leak from the head gasket. I then bead blasted the header and repainted with VHT high temp. paint as I was not happy with the finish. I then wrapped the header with heat wrap, now you can't see my nice paint job. And then refitted them. I just have a few bits and pieces to go then clean the engine and take it for a drive and see if the oil leak is fixed. I am not confident, but I am not up to pulling both heads at the moment. My back is killing me now. Hopefully no pulled stitches
Regards,
Alan.

Hi Tanis,
Yes thanks for that. Everything seems to be working fine now that I changed the Wabco computer. Did the 1995 P38 not have any traction control at all ?
Regards,
Alan

Hi George,
thanks mate. I did a bit too much today so am feeling a but second hand tonight. Maybe a easy day tomorrow. I have now fixed all my electrical gremlins, and thought I was close to finished then I found both head gaskets are leaking oil. Bugger. I am going to retorque them and see if that fixes the leaks. Otherwise it is both heads off and new gaskets. This is on a new motor with less than 50 kilometers on it. Block was decked, heads skimmed, MLS head gaskets, ARP studs and nuts. So I am at a loss as to why they have started leaking.
Regards,
Alan

Hi everyone, I somehow have accumulated 4 P38's. My original one I bought years ago, still going, and have not had too many problems with it. I would jump in it tomorrow and think nothing of driving it for a couple a thousand kilometers. Number 2 was a 1995 model that belonged to a friend. Bought it cheap, $1,000. AU. Then my friend had a 1997 P38 come into his workshop for repairs, but the engine was stuffed so I bought it for $350 AU. Then I bought a Maxi Drive rear end from a wrecker. When I arranged a time to pick it up the wrecker said bring a car trailer. He gave me the whole car. A 1998 P38,4.6. It has a good motor and gearbox. It too is really too good to wreck. I think I have enough of them, but there is a really nice dark blue 1999 4,6 with dark grey leather. And I haven't got a blue one. And with retirement due at the end of the year I might need another one to keep me out of the pub.
Alan

Hi Gilbert,
my SRS light is now out. Thank you very much Gilbert. I am now back to the EAS. I will reset all the heights tomorrow morning and see what happens then. I think I may be getting close to running out of things to do. I might go out and buy a UHF two way radio tomorrow and fit that while I have the lower dash panels off. That will keep me busy for a couple of hours.
Regards, Alan
