Just had another look on the key. Maybe its an ( I ) stamped on the back , I thought it was just an indent. The trouble is Island 4x4 have used the same photo for every code.
Has any one got a working gas strut on their cubby box.
I have just replaced mine as its never been working . I was expecting it to raise the cubby box lid once the release button was pressed but all it actually does is holds it up.
£12 just to hold up a lid, I need to smack the back of my head :)
Where will I find the code for my locking wheel nut key, Its cracked and wont last much longer.
I couldnt see anything on the key itself but looking at Island 4x4 they sell them with codes from A-J
Changed them over today. Wow that was easier than I thought it was going to be but I did remove the wheel and arch liners .
Took about 45 mins a side all in.

Cheers Ob , damn these tools are expensive , a cost I usually forget to figure in when replacing parts.
Thought I'd replace the tensioner and idlers today along with a new serpentine belt.
I have a 36mm spanner placed on the fan nut and whacked it with a hammer, all it keeps doing is turning the whole lot.
How do I stop the pulley from turning as well, Is there another tool I need as most forums say a hammer should be enough to loosen the nut.
Managed to replace the serpentine belt although the old one still looked like new.
Thanks for the links but I live in France and they dont deliver here.
I have managed to find 10 liters delivered from a 3rd party on Amazon.de for £46
Cheers, Proving to be an expensive month.
Just about to buy some ATF from Amazon , thinking I would need about 5 litres but just checked rave and it states 9.7 litres for my 99 4.0 auto.
Am I reading that right? Seems a hell of a lot.
Cheers, sounds so easy, dont know why I didnt do my own rears.
Ok, my Air Springs are arriving in the next day or so.
I will do one side at a time.
I have been reading up on how to replace them and it seems easy enough but I am reading conflicting methods.
Set eas to normal height.
Disable eas with opening the boot etc.
Put axle on stand ?
Jack up the chassis to full height.
Disconnect airline.
Remove retaining clips.
Remove bottom pin.
Some dont mention putting the axle on stands, what difference will this make.
Does the above sound right or is there anything missing.
Not sure what the cops are driving here, they are very square looking things but can shift.
Just read in the news this morning that luckily the car that got hit had minor injuries but they didnt say what the idiot drivers were doing.
The papers are asking for comments/photos and videos . I have a first hand account video as I fitted a camera to the car since moving here.
Off topic but this is a pub.
On the way home after a nice day spent with friends I see an arsheole in my rear view hurtling at about a ton in a 50kmph zone so I moved across out the way knowing it wasn't good and sure enough he flips his car into another on the opposite side of the road . Then another wanker whizzes past me followed by the police.
As soon as the first car flipped an unmarked police car was there in a second coming from the other way so I can only imagine he'd been radioed ahead. Poor family with children in the car that got hit.
200 meters further up the road they caught the second car and we watched them remove 6 youths and pummel them to the floor .
More than likely joyriders, its always them that survive and ruin other peoples day.
Cheers.
The electric pump looks reasonable for the price.
Looking at doing a service on the gearbox.
Any recommendations on a pump to transfer the oil into the gearbox ?
My car has certainly been keeping me busy this month with one thing and another.
Ive been getting slightly erratic idling on start up. On cold it idles at around 1 notch over the 1k then reduces to around 1 notch below the 1k but it will fluctuate ever so slightly up & down. I can also feel there is something not quite right through the vibration of the car. After a drive it all seems a lot better but still an ever so slight fluctuation.
I have just removed and cleaned all the sparks and they were actually all tip top condition.
I have just read the stepper motor maybe a possibility?
Island 4x4 have been doing well with my business lately. The suspension is next on the list although I already have had the rebuild kit sitting in my drawer for the past year.
Although Im sure I need to change my front airbag suspension as they are still originals on a 99 and the fact that they are on bump stops most of the time in the morning taking 10 mins to fill or even if I just pop to the shops and leave the EAS on normal I will come back to it dropped to the bump stops.
However I have an oddity.
If I leave the car with the EAS on high then the problem of it dropping to the bump stops doesnt seem to happen and it will stay up for a few days.
Why would this happen. If I have holes its going to escape, the difference between normal and high wouldnt make a huge difference to how long it stays up surely.
Unfortunately That would cost me a about £500 plus return in petrol , tolls & crossing.
I dont think it would be plain sailing in the event of an accident either and would probably be investigated by the insurance company with suspicion, especially if you chose not to MOT it.
