At least worth ruling this out by driving on petrol for an hour before turning the engine off so if there is such leak gas will have been used with the engine running rather than displace air in the plenum?

Others will know better than me but iIrc the pump doesn't work on these until cranking, either that or it runs for a couple of seconds in pos2 then stops until cranking. 17 Seconds after stalling is probably about right?

A lot of engines give a really long 1 or 2 petrol injector pulses immediately on turning to the cranking position before reverting to normal pulse lengths for cranking which may be temperature dependent.

Thanks for the input Simon - I tried running on petrol for a day but no change in the morning. I guess we can eliminate LPG from my enquiries!

Marshall8hp yes got plug off eventually had to remove fan/belt and swing generator out of way too
The tool is as BrianH states --- ok mine cost£22 but 10 mins to do is far cheaper than a garage ---- even got instructions too

Nothing actually done, but today I've sourced a full set of Koni shocks locally for a similar price to shipping Bilstein's from the UK.

I'll be having a nose on Saturday.

Spent a few hours today writing chips for Mukiwa's diesel and trying them out one by one in my ecu.
I chipped it for him a while back and tested out the ECU on mine afterwards but it has now failed on his.
Don't know what is going on. Maybe the uv eraseable eeprom with the map on is failing? Still investigating.

Filled it with LPG and drove it back home.
Even with the school run and working at work maybe 50% of the time, the fleet are doing almost no miles these days. I'm glad none of them are on finance! I'd be pissed if I was paying £450 a month to polish a car.

Just got enough feeling back in my fingers to type. About 2 years ago I fitted a complete new exhaust from Maltings Off Road but the other day I noticed that it sounded a bit throatier than normal. Had a look and noticed that the front Y pipe and cats, the mid section and the long pipe with tailpipe box that goes to the RH side all looked perfect, still shiny even. However, the short pipe and tailpipe box going to the LH side was rotten as the proverbial pear. Although the box was reasonable, the pipe had turned into perforated tube. I did notice when I first got it that some sections were labelled Bearmach while other bits were labelled Allmakes which could explain the difference in quality. Maltings only list a complete system so I phoned them and they agreed to supply me with just the one pipe (for £36 so not a bad price). It arrived a couple of days ago, was labelled Allmakes but fitted much better than the previous one. It had taken me ages to get the two pipes to sit at the same height and angle last time but this just slotted on and everything lined up perfectly.

As I need to go out later, figured I ought to do it really despite it being -2 out there. Work had provided us with AA man style thermal coveralls and as they are PPE and personal issue they stayed at home when I retired. Figured the time had come to try them out and I've got to admit that despite being so bright I suspect I would glow in the dark, they certainly work. The same can't be said for my gloves though. It took me about an hour to change the pipe and probably slightly longer to get the feeling back into my fingers......

But it does suggest that if you need an exhaust and have a choice between Allmakes and Bearmach, go for the Allmakes.

-2 , are you guys in Celsius or Fahrenheit over there? It was -18C here this morning. The Dunlop air springs are less than 2 years old but they hate the cold. The rear springs especially leak down overnight once it’s colder than -12. My wife drove it to work this morning (only about 5km), but it never sorted itself out. I’ll probably need to hook up the Nano this evening. When it’s warm there are no leaks. Last summer we didn’t drive it for a while and it didn’t leak down at all for 3 weeks.

-5ish is quite a normal winter temperature around here but we’ve just been in a cold snap. This is the only cold snap we’ve had this winter, and if we’re lucky this may be the end of winter for this year.

That's the biggest problem with English weather, you can never say what it is going to do. Where I am it's been a couple of degrees C below freezing since last weekend. Forecast says it will be +2 tomorrow and up to +12 on Monday with double figures all next week. What happens after that is anyone's guess, it isn't unknown to get snow in April! Just when you think winter is over, it comes back to bite you.
