Maybe they would be behaving differently if I was male. Also they know, from previous dealings with them, that I do not have male back up. They also know that getting to them is not easy as I have said before. Whatever happens they are going to bump up the already silly money bill. At the end of my tether with it.

I have. 6' 5" son!!!!! Thank you for your impression of me. Normally I can hold my own but at the moment I am not feeling quite so strong. I feel quite emotionally drained by all that has been going on with this damn car over the last 5 weeks. I cannot see any light at the end of the long tunnel and to be honest, I do not think I can afford to have a new/ reconditioned pump fitted like they are suggesting. They have apparently sourced a refurbished one with ,I think they said, a new actuator on it!! The problem with the place is as I have said, not easily accessible other than by private transport and they are only open Mon to Fri 8-5. IF I go down there I will have to take a day off for which I would not get paid as I am bank staff. My son works totally in the opposite direction and in his job role cannot just take days off willy nilly. Stuck between a pile of rocks and a hard place!!!!

Mmmm looks like it. They said it was info they would have put in the invoice which I doubt. I do not think they would put things like fault codes or what diagnostic machine they used, which was some of the things I asked for. Have to say I feel a bit uncomfortable about going down to them and how they are going to describe these " complex and technical issues"

Well Marty. I don't know what to do. I have asked them for info on all they have done, what diagnostic machine they have used and what has been replaced and fault codes found, as suggested earlier. That have sort of refused to do that saying that "given the complexity and technical nature " of what I was asking them for, they want me to go down here to discuss it. Now. Their place is in the middle of and industrial estate nowhere near public transport. How in heavens name do they expect me to get there? It has been a right shit day. Went to the doc to get him to fill in and sign a medical form so I can keep my D1 entitlement when I have to renew my license at 70, so I can continue to drive the 16 seat mini buses. £120 for 40 mins work!!!!!! Wish I got paid that for 40 mins work!

Maybe but I cannot keep chucking money at it. There are no experts around here. The useless unreliable thing is stuck in Prompy and is going to cost yet more money to get the thing out of there. Then what? Bring it back home? With no one able to find the problem it is of no use to me. It has been off the road for 5 weeks. I have missed going to events. Haven't played darts for weeks because I cannot get home afterwards as there are no buses that run late. Sorry but I am very depressed about it all at the moment and not a very happy bunny to be around.

Thank you Gilbertd. It will be helpful should I decide to get another RR.

Thank you RutlandRover. I think I will send an email asking for these details. They can then send the info back so I can print it out.

Right. How in heavens name do you identify a P 38 when looking from a normal RR. From what I have gathered from this latest nightmare, is that it is a blokes car. It hates women, well me anyway. I have had 2 RR before and never had problems like this thing has given me. I had one for 9 years and it was great. 3.9 petrol. Went like s..t of a shovel and drank petrol like it was going out of fashion, but I loved him. The only real expense I had was when the head gasket blew due to a blocked filter. Had I not ended up in a position that I could not run him I would probably still have him. He was a classic and totally reliable.

The site does not exist. Apparently.

Nanocon!! Damn predictive text. Would there be anyone willing to come here. Is there any where else I could search for someone closer that has one. The problem with it needing transporting is the biggest harassment.

Yes Morat. This Nanocon would seem to be the tool. I know that is not what they have got because I asked them. They did not say what they do have but there again I did not ask. Would there be some sense to try and get it to someone who does have one?

Has anyone got any suggestions as to how I go forward. Apart from scrapping the thing. I have spent so much on it fixing pumps , o rings, the right CCA battery, viscous couplings, abs sensors, glow plugs, 4 new tyres, hevac unit and Marty's BCM, to mention just a few. To look at it is a nice vehicle. Blue with cream leather. Good bodywork. Alloy wheels which are not messed up from hitting kerbs. Saggy headlining , but each RR I have had has had this problem. Need to get transport soon before I end up in the loony bin from boredom!!!

Yes Marty. It seems from others comments that the pump on the tank does not throw up a code. My local garage said it was a FIP code. If this is so why did Powerdrive not get the same reading? Different diagnostics they told me. How to broach the subject with Powerdrive? Mmmmmmm that will be tricky. He got a bit defensive the other day when I asked him about taking off the top when they repaired the diesel leak. He originally said they had not touched it but had to admit that they had to remove it to do the repair but was very quick to say they did not touch it in any other way. Perhaps they should have!!! I do not know if the tank pump needed replacing or not. Some say they last for 18 MTHS and then need replacing. Anyway they are not expensive to replace by what I have found and Turner's had already cut a hole under the seat. Would like to query what has been done but do not want to end up arguing with them. Just want to get it sorted but do not know how or where to go that know what they are doing. It has been 5 weeks off the road.

Oh Marty. Wish I had the knowledge to help you instead of you helping me. Now you remember back to when I had that infuriating battery drain that those expert idiots in the diagnostic place could not sort out. Despite me telling them that the red light by the gear stick was not going out when locked, they took no notice and virtually laughed at me. I was close to getting shot of the useless lump of metal that it is!!! You kept saying. Bring it here I will fix it. Don't give up on it you said. Eventually I gave in. A 68 year old granny, on her own, drove 3 hours in a car I could not turn off in case it would not then start, to see a chap I did not know, in the hope he would fix it. Well you did and it has been perfect since and I will be eternally grateful to you for that. I have not given up on it YET!!!!

No maybe not but they would have needed doing at some point. Obviously nothing to do with the loss of power issue. Wish I could find out for definite which pump that code relates to. IF my local garage was correct in saying it was the FIP then I would be asking why Powerdrive took no notice and also why they replaced the tank one. I would not have sent it back to Powerdrive if I had known it was the tank one as the local garage could have done it.

Forgot. They have also replaced 2 glow plugs

Oh and there were no warning lights on the dash when it stalled

Oh and there were no warning lights on the dash when it stalled

I wish I had someone to talk to them that actually knows whats what and could maybe question more, what they are doing. I don't think that they are messing about but cannot be 100% sure. Whatever happens this bill will be £1000+ The reason why they did the pump via the back seat was because that is how Turner Diagnostics did it. Another load of rip merchants. P38 experts??????? Think I now know more than them!!!!!

Marty. That information you sent makes some sense. I took it to the garage because, one evening it kept stalling. Both when putting it in gear and coming to a stop. Also I had difficulty with the starting. When I took it to the garage it did none of those things. So back home it came. Then the next week the battery went flat for no reason. Got it jumped and took it for a 30 mins run to charge it up. The power thing started to show itself that night. Got the local garage to check for problems and that is when they found the fault they thought referred to the FIP. The battery has not gone flat since!
