Out of date tank?
Do the tanks need renewing at certain intervals?
At least you know what it is and it's not an overly expensive fix :)
I've been doing some sums.
I think I found LPGC's website (it has the same name at least): http://www.lpgc.co.uk/index_files/Page600.htm
Fully fitted price is from £1300, DIY kit is from £814. Second hand eBay kit is £300.
Guestimated MPG's of 15 for LPG and 19 for petrol.
Break-even mileages are roughly 12,250 for fully fitted, 7,700 for the DIY kit and 2,800 for the eBay kit.
I've owned the car just under 1 year and I've done just under 6K miles for just recreational use. My mileage is jumping up to around 55 miles per day until August at which point it drop again to unknown amount. Unless I buy another car after this, the mileage will increase again.
The LPGC systems are listed as "multi point sequential" but the eBay one is just multi point, so it's not quite comparing apples with apples.
Is sequential significantly/noticeably better than regular multi point?
Are used kits from eBay not even worth considering?
When we got our P38 we were happy to use it as a petrol car, given the low mileage we intended to do. As our use of the car is changing I'm looking in to LPG a bit more.
But I know precious little about it.
I'm aware there's different types (single point, multi point and sequential) but I'm not really sure of the pros and cons of each. I'd guess that in terms of which was "best", they'd be ranked Single > Multi > Sequential, with a cost bump for each.
If I do go LPG, I'll be getting a wheel well tank. I know they're smaller but I'm more willing to sacrifice the spare wheel than boot space.
Beyond this, I know nothing.
I've seen a kit on eBay claiming to be complete: https://goo.gl/HK24dw.
Is this a good brand? What does it mean by "front end" parts? Is considering a second hand LPG kit madness? If so, why? Is this something that is even remotely DIY-able?
What advice would give to complete beginner with LPG?
The Mondeo we had for a few weeks had two rear springs in that time. The car had 63k miles and was a 58-plate.
It also had a knackered and completely worn out seat mechanism that allowed the drivers seat to be lifted at least two inches.
Then it had coil pack failure and a serious missfire as well as a bunch of other issues.
My previous Focus hit 150k and never needed a suspension spring to be changed. It didn't have a failed coil pack until 145k either.
I think new/modern cars are just shitty quality in general.
Unfortunately, I'm not about in Peterborough until I'm back at work next week (Tuesday onwards) due to family commitments around Easter. I can pop over to Yaxley to meet you in the week though, save you a trip out to fix my problem :P
Sounds good to me. Can meet you some time in the week, whenever is convenient for you.
Thanks!

I just hope you haven't taken all their stock of plugs though as I'm due for a set too.
Would you like these ones? They don't fit in my engine, they're too fat.
15mpg seems a little low - were you gunning it quite hard?
My commute is 26 miles each way and it easily tops 19mpg on that route, I've seen 21mpg at times too. I think it's currently sat at 17-18mpg after several hours of off roading last Sunday.
Mine has the really annoying wobble felt through the seats too. I'm changing the rear brake pads tomorrow so, while the wheels are off, I'm going to wire brush the mating faces then take it for a wheel balance once the work is done. I can let you know if that makes a difference.
Are they determining left/right relative to sitting in the driver's seat or standing at the front looking the vehicle?
Thought of hiring an assistant/apprentice?
I wouldn't worry about finishing off the board for me, I'm not even sure I'll get the permission for it yet :P
Having a rough price is enough for me to work on at the moment. Cheers.
Just a thought....could you make the connectors with a cheap 3D printer?
Time to ditch the DSP then.
On the plus side, I gather they go for a good price on eBay.
Do you have any DSP replacement boards in stock? I'll see if I can get some funds released from the Bank of Mum-To-Be :P
My pump runs for several seconds on startup. My brakes work well and stop the car nice and quick but I've got bugger all feel through the pedal.
I can definitely hear something. I'm not sure what it is but it is there and you're not going mad :P
I like mine quite high but with the rear slightly lower. Gives me a great view of the road and increases the support under the back of my legs.
The front and rear of the seat base are controlled independently.
If you dip the front and then the back (opposite ends of the same button) you'll effectively lower the whole seat.
I wasn't prepared for the trip to Millfield - traffic everywhere! I had a rather hectic lunch hour. In to town, parked, collected an Easter Egg from Hotel Chocolat, back to car and on to Millfield for the plugs then over to Sainsburys to pick up a few groceries. Somehow made it back to my desk inside the hour lol
They have at least two left.
They gave me a new box of ten and took two out.
Hmm, I might have to look in to Marty's DSP replacement project again then.
I'm keen to fit the Android system however possible as I'd like a more up to date nav system too.
Now that I'm using the Range Rover as a daily driver I want to replace the radio with something containing bluetooth and music streaming capabilities.
I want to copy what Marty has done and get an Android powered double DIN unit to replace the factory sat nav screen. One without a disc drive so I cut the chassis down to fit the dashboard.
I have the (currently functional) DSP amp system.
To wire this up and make it work I believe I need to set the volume to max before disconnecting the standard head unit, fit an ISO to ISO harness on the back of the new radio, fit 4x attenuators in the ISO to ISO harness and connect this all to the original wiring loom.
Is this correct?
What would I need to make the steering wheel controls work? Just connect it all together and worry about it if they don't work?
Cheers Ferryman, went with a 10L bottle in the end to cover everything.
Popped in to Millfield Autoparts for the spark plugs too. Never been that side of town before - it's chaos!
Everything ordered and delivered and awaiting a day I can get it in the workshop :D
