Defo got gas, shoved 60 litres in the other day ,, going out to check hoses now, if you hear a bang ! It's me, lol.. Might give the petrol a fill up, if can get the gas sorted will cost me nothing to get home,, will post how I get on
Afraid I'm gonna have to give tomorrow a miss, lpg has decided to play silly buggers , switches on (tries to stall) runs for about 30 seconds then alarm goes off and back to petrol... Bit peeved as worked hard last weekend on the car to know was safe,, :(
Hopefully there be another meet up soon so I can meet you guys
Thanks OB, just wanted to check that is at least half decent before throwing more money at it,, gonna confirm today that damper is my problem, couldn't move yesterday after changing the ball joints etc, arthritis kicked me up the back side, joys of getting old, lol
Ok, looking on island 4x4, don't want to buy a shit part ! Have any of you heard of or used the terrafirma steering damper ? I'm trying to keep funds to a minimum as saving to do the engine,, so was going down the middle as such

I was thinking of coming up for the Saturday, but as I've got nothing better to do I'll come back up on the Sunday too - bit further than I remember but that's no biggy, might be able to scrape both days in one tank of LPG :) Depending on the amount of bits I bring up it might make it a bit easier anyway! Always worried about putting holes in the leather. I do have a working drivers side blower if you've not got one Marty.
My breaker will be going the week after (sans engine, will have two if you still want one at some point Marty) - I have picked it pretty clean of bits I'm keeping as spares (or already used...), but if there is any odd bits that anyone wants that I don't already know about, let me know. I do have a set of clear rear lights and indicators from it going cheap. Relatively new GEMS radiator - I think it is Britpart, probably did 1500-2000 miles on the car before I gave up with it. If anyone wants it, I'll bring it, of no use to me now! I have a single exhaust rear brake hose from the chassis to the axle, unused, I won't need that either.
EAS blocks sound good! Do you want me to get ATF or was that factored in your 10L? I can get filter etc. If there is time, it would be handy to change my rocker cover gaskets, but I have the week after that weekend off so it can wait.
I have a 35 litre Waeco fridge/freezer that lives in the back of my RR and another little 14 litre box I can bung in, so I can bring a fair bit of food with me too.

Sloth what are the back boxes like on the one your breaking, mine are getting tired,, and one of the rubbers have snapped along with the metal mount from the box,, this supposedly looked after range has cost me a small fortune !
So took the car out this morning, steering is nice and tight, but bugger me, still got the clunk ! Now I'm at a loss.
Changed flexible coupling to steering box, changed steering box, changed drop link and track control arm, poly bushed all the front and back arms etc, and obviously top and bottom ball joints, it's definitely from underneath the I car, I'm wondering if it's the damper on the steering, guy before me had changed it.
Next thing will be a can of fuel and a box of matches..
Any ideas would be appreciated
So yesterday I decided to change all the front ball joints and the front diff ( is that a heavy sob, or am I getting old) started on the lhs, took me 3.5 hours to get old out, new in, rhs, took me 40 minutes to do the same, once you've Sussed them out there not too bad. So nice to not hear the diff whine, and no Clunk when I turn the steering,, paying the price today with arthritis, lol, I won't let it beat me,,,
And I bet the council will not pay up,, sounds like you need a set of 33 s fitted, lol
I'll bring socket set, spanners etc, ball joint remover/ installer and whatever other things I think of. Pity, I threw a perfectly good steering box away, thought mine was faulty, changed and scrap bloke came past so I gave to him, grrrrrrr, to find my problem was ball joints. I'm pretty handy with doing things, will also bring trolley jack, chocks to sit cars on,, should be a good day/ weekend..
Glad you managed to get the bolt out, as I said, mine was back r/h head, I used the grip tight on a torque wrench and scaffold pole extension, was convinced it was gonna snap or rip the thread out, was relieved when it moved,, lol
Sloth, if you have any problems, I have an engine loom that I've butchered for some of the plugs, I know I haven't cut that one off yet,, fingers crossed its all ok, but keep me in mind if you need the sensor plug,, Chris
Liking the idea , drives me nuts trying to flash someone.. Thing I might modify mine,, don't think I've ever used the speed limit warning,,
Popped out to car, the sockets I got are Chicago brand, if you type bolt removal sockets into search engine your find them, I've used them on a torque wrench with no problem, if you can get at it, a set of irwins will work, but if an end bolt you will have to grind the spanner head shape off and use ratchet,,

Its not going well.
Managed to remove the first bolt but bolt no 2 is almost rounded off, its last chance saloon for it. I dont understand why neither the 16mm or 5/8 is not a perfect fit.
Ive read that heating the bolt up maybe an option but I dont have a blow torch, might sound daft but will a kitchen/chefs torch produce enough heat. Also welding a nut to the top of it, although I dont have a welder and have never welded before.
Which bolt is it, I had a problem with a back bolt so couldn't get at it to hit removal socket on, ended up buying a set of removal sockets that lock onto anything when you twist, will pop out to car later and get the name, they weren't cheap, but ive used them so many times since,, earnt there money back for sure
I'm gonna pop in just to meet you guys, willing to give a hand helping with things,, noticed on Saturday that euro car parts have a special on 10/40 semi synthetic oil, was around £27 for 20 litre container,,
Richard, so glad it's not just me that snaps the 3/8 to 1/2 adapted, that's why I invested in 16mm 1/2 drive,, think my halfords are sick of seeing me with a socket or ratchet spanner in hand, lol.
Wow, I'm impressed you got them undone with a 3/8 drive, I use a 27 " breaker bar to crack them, wouldn't dream of anything but 1/2 drive, there tight for sure,, good luck with the 1 bolt that's left

Must admit, on my last head job, I put the heat shields etc on before installing, pushed bolts through, sat heads on timber, started bolting down, replaced to slightly slimmer timber, etc etc, fed up with fighting with that r/h back manifold bolt, lol.. As Gilbert says, hardest job is the heat shields, I replaced the bolts for stainless Allen key bolts,, hopefully if I have to remove again should be easy
I'd have a go at making something, then using the transfer effect walnut over whatever mounting you make to blend it in.. I've played with the transfer, if you take your time and follow instructions, can come out really good ! Maybe go down the breakers yard ang grab a cheap centre dash to play with,,
