If they fail they all fail in the same way. It must be some diode or so, easy to replace.
The interior is a standard German VDO clock, the only difference is the electrical way of adjusting it (pulses) instead of turning the central knob.
I've been searching the net for spares but can't find them. Not too difficult finding a replacement clock but I just want to know why they fail, indeed sort of trauma. :)
If you remove the casing, you can see that the 'gold' coloured pin (leg of the T) is also the ground of the illumination, the 'silver' coloured pin has a print '30 / +12V' which is the top of the T.
BTW, is there one around that still works? Mine runs for a few minutes and takes a rest again.
Tony.
The banjo-bolts are the same as for the late Classic which had a braided hose. If it is long enough I should try one of those.
Tony.
Mine does the same.
When engine running while hood is open I can hear the valves pst-pst-pst and the front drops half an inch, the same moment it corrects itself to normal height and after 20-30 seconds the pst-pst-pst starts again.
Might be a dead spot in a sensor, after all normal ride height is the most used position.
Over night it stays level (for at least 4 days), maybe because the Becm is in sleep mode.
Tony.
It must be real dark indeed to check that led.
Just for checking I had placed a small ladies handbag mirror to the shifterlever so that I could see it from outside.
Cheap solution if you don't refund the wifes handbag...
When they speak slowly us dutch understand it very well, just a pity the black people do not want to speak it, it is the language of the "boeren" (white farmers) and to much connected to apartheid.
As for the French language, in Napoleon's time Holland was partly French and the language in fact was for the upper class (in The Hague), if you go to the Frisian Museum and look at old French scriptures, the (written) language hasn't hardley changed.
Hi guys, Tony here from The Netherlands.
I saw this forum passing by with the names of some trusted members and I thought I might join.
A new forum in developement and I am proud being the 26th member.
As the username suggests I spent most of my professional time as a ferryman on the Amsterdam waterways and retired a couple of months ago.
As for LR my first tractor was a Spanish Santana Cazorla, the 109" stationwagon with the 6 inline Rover diesel. What an engine.
I drove it in the 2,5 years we lived in Spain, hauled boats with it and was workshop aswell.
Back in The Netherlands I have owned 4 Classics over the years and now have a 2000 P38.
I hope I can contribute to members here, let's see how things go.
When it comes to serious discussions, I avoid them because English is not my native language and a debate is beyond my capabilitys.
I hope this will become a place where people respect eachother and get answers to their questions.
On another forum ruled by a mister knowitall, his first answer is always a pointer to Rave and read that carefully. I want to help people when possible and give a relevant answer.
Where are the days of the LR UK forums (I made it to engineer) when Classics were hot, chopped or stretched and 6x6 wheel drive.
I don't see that happening with a P38.
Let's make this a place where RR is the centre of the universe.
Tony.
