Hi all, got an issue I’m struggling to diagnose and would appreciate your thoughts.

Since I bought the P38 it’s steering wheel has to be held about 10 degrees/1 o’clock to drive in a straight line. If I let go, it centres and therefore pulls slightly to the left.

I’ve put up with it for a couple of years, blaming bad (massive) tyres, bad bushes, ball joints, poor height calibration etc. Ive fixed all of these.

I’ve just taken it to have the tracking/alignment done, figuring it must be that. However they said it was not out of line...

So now I’m stumped. The only bushes didn’t do were the rear radius arms but they looked new.

Any ideas? It’s not a problem but I’m a bit of a perfectionist!!

Thanks

Keep getting an abs/traction fault message and lights on dash. Plug in nanocom and it reports no faults with abs...

The only thing that shows faults is either Passenger seat or occasionally a RHF height sensor...

Any ideas...

Aux in in forum Electrickery

Standard head unit (non nav) with HK sound. Is an Aux in of any kind possible? Tape deck dead, CD deck dead and getting fed up of covid on the radio!!!

Thanks

Finally got round to sorting the perishes vacuum hose and reconnected the actuator. Cruise works a treat!!!

Should there be a lamp in the instrument panel when it’s active? I know there’s one on the button on the dash but nothing to indicate it’s latched.

TIA

I filled up with LPG yesterday which isn’t an often done thing at the moment. At 45p per litre I realised I’m doing the equivalent to 50mpg!!! Not bad for a brick with a 4.6L engine and 20 years old!

Soft pedal when car left for a few days. Fine after about 20 secs of running.

Cow moo noise almost every time I press the brake pedal (always done this to be fair)

Am I looking at the accumulator?

Now we’re a one car family and the P38 won, it’ll get all the towing duties. Obviously it’s more than capable of towing a large caravan, but anyone got any advice etc please? I already know it’ll drink even more fuel!

Another day, another fault!

So, now I get a RF Signal Incorrect hard fault on most journey I make. Before I start chucking money at new sensors, is there anywhere else to check that's common. Would this sensor go through that multiplug that gets corroded in the drivers footwell?

I've checked it's cable and reseated the multiplug on the EAS ECU already...

Resets fine every time, so it's obviously something very momentary....

I've seen Marty's thread about rebuilding the instrument panel, and while that looks ace, I'd be interested if anyone has simply swapped the filament bulbs with LED on the instrument panel, and how successful that was?

Cheers

Anyone got a cheap fix for the gas strut in the centre cubby box? Mine is useless and a replacement is £40+!!

Carpet in forum Oily bits

For the first time since i bought the car, I've had the time to remove the carpet try dry it out. I fixed the heater matrix o-ring leak 18 months ago and it was still saturated.

Washed with a hose till foam stopped and water ran clean, but will it ever dry out? It's been in the direct sun all day hanging over a trestle, but still soaking...

Just came across this: https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/hierarchy/id/L7/brand/land-rover/

The P38 is listed as Range Rover Classic 👌

Hi all, looking to modify the boot space a little as I have LPG which has stolen the spare wheel well but want to carry a spare. Also want to carry few tools, spares, add an aux battery, additional compressor etc. Thinking a custom ply box with drawers which I can also mount my dog guard too (from a diff vehicle but physically fits).

If anyone has gone this route would appreciate a photo or two please for inspiration.

I have got the first signs of micro switch failure, in that occasionally the doors will lock and unlock on their own, however before splashing out some serious wedge on new latches, I’ve heard from another forum that the BeCM might be at fault. Is that right or just internet mechanics talking?

Cheers

Moving this thread is very from “another” forum!!

So, I have just completed my checks of the door latch wiring and noticed the stereo sound only coming from the rear. Checked fuses, all ok.

Today decided to take doors all apart again to check I’d refitted properly. Put radio on to keep me company and noticed the sound is working fine now....

Great till the next time but anyone got any ideas where to check? I know there’s a plug in the kick panel which corrodes but that wouldn’t affect both sides together would it?

I’ve got a 2000 vogue with HK and sub in boot...

Just thought I'd say Hi....
