Unless you particularly like the style/options the original owner specced out, I'm not really sure they're worth it or really much different from a normal model? Every chance it would mechanically be a shed too, with the seller thinking that is irrelevant because its 'special' and thus demand a hefty price for it. Personally I really dislike the Autobiography badge on the back too... but that's me.

I'm with Sloth on this. Autobiography models generally seem to have been "created" by people with more money than taste. If there was an "immortal headgasket" or "Top hat liner" option back in 2001, that would be a different matter :)
A 30th Edition or a Holland and Holland on the other hand... I could get quite silly about one of those. If I had the cash :)

Yeah, I know what you mean, but the hand-finished paint job sort of appeals. Cr@p paint is what's bugged me about my current one, well, that and the tired interior. Now if there was one out there for sale 1999-2002 Thor, baggy leather (not purple!), wood everywhere, top hat liners, I'd be looking at it with interest :-)

I think mainly because the devil I know will always be a '95 130000 mile GEMS on single point lpg and, no matter what I do to it (needs aircon, headlining, fascia replacement, paint- prob about £1500) it'll still be a 95 GEMS and worth the same as it stands at the moment. If I sell and chuck the £1500 into something a bit more "special" and younger I stand to get more bangs for my buck...

The one with the electrical fault with the locking is probably something like a dodgy microswitch...

Looks like it needs a respray though - with the bubbling of the paint/rust appearing on the rear arch.. Otherwise looks nice enough! Oh and the left headlight wiper arm is bugging me... lol

The H&H looks nice, but not at £14K - especailly as it probably has leaky heater core o-rings, and a soggy drivers footwell... and I like how they say 2 lesser specced H&H's sold for excess of £20K.... I thought H&H was the spec... not a 'range' of specifications...

The 30th is nice, but I couldn't do all the green! it's also got cheap aftermarket exhaust - you can tell by the massive rear silencers that hang down and look ugly... If you're paying £9K for it, then I'd be telling them to put something better on it!

The 50th is probably the nicest one there, the Autobiography looks nice on the interior, but the outside is shocking and really could do with a couple of new panels and a respray too! but at least it's a realistic price... oh, and some new wheels!!

I picked up my '51-plate 4.6 Vogue earlier in the year for just over £3K.

Leather and wood everywhere, not a spot of rust showing anywhere, no peeling paint and very little visible wear to the driver's seat. I'm not sure I'd buy any of the ones in this thread over the one I bought.

Ok, so it needed a new front cover gasket but that could happen on a £20K one too. Then the battery died and shut the BECM down - again, something that could happen on a more expensive one too.

That is how I feel about mine too, Rutland. Gilbert has seen mine and the paint is excellent. It still, amazingly, has the protective tape on the chrome inserts on the rubber strips halfway down the body. It runs well and will do for me. I PX'd a L322 to have this as this was in better condition.

I'd love that 30th, it's been in my Watch List for ages (I can't afford it) but now you've pointed out the exhaust... eww! lopsided.
TBH the Vogue that I've got is the right spec for me. Epsom/Lightstone is my personal favorite, it's the picnic tables in the Anniversary that make it look special and I never sit in the back!

Sounds a bit fishy to me.
BTW the wheels and the tints are not to my taste (thankfully he's putting the standard ones back on) and it's green, my least favourite RR colour (sorry Chris!) but at the right price, and if I get a chance to give it a look over first, I might just go for it...

Very true, I didn't realise yours was an early one. But, mines a 1998, 322,000 mile GEMS on a single point and if I were to sell it I probably wouldn't even get what the engine cost me back. I've got a multipoint that I'm in the process of taking off the SE (as it's going to appear on ebay soon as a complete, fully running car with no MoT due to a cracked windscreen) which I had intended fitting to mine but I honestly can't really see any benefit. I'd use more petrol and also would have to rely on a fully working petrol system, at least with the single point it doesn't really matter if the MAF, lambda sensors, temp sensors, etc fail, it will still run fine on gas. Having spent the money on the engine, done the EAS, blend motors, door latches, both diffs, ball joints, headlining (and numerous other little bits) and am about to get it sprayed, then it will be as I want it. It'll still be my car but will be the devil I know. Yes, a Thor would be nice but my fear is having to do everything I've already done to mine again on another one.

As if by magic he's finally replied to me with a phone number so I can pop over and have a look at it.
Anyone have any useful tips about Thor cars that I can check for, apart from the usual rust, leaks and normal car vetting stuff?
I will see if he'll let me plug in the Nanocom so I can see any historical codes, but anyone with any savvy will have cleared them first :-)
