I looked at that red one, it's not bad IF there the only faults, one thing I've learnt with eBay sellers is there all w**rs when it comes to describing something for sale, especially p38s

Funny you should say that!
Just had a message:
" I ve have sent the buyer a message to cancel the transaction due to non contact as soon as sure he is not going to turn up I will send you a second chance offer "
Gypsy Rose-Gilbertd now

It wouldn't surprise me if the local one falls through. Buyers often bid on something without looking at where it is. Then when they win and find it's hundreds of miles from them, they back out. In the case of Londoners, if they can't get to pick it up on the tube, it may as well be in a different country.

Marty:
I thought the same- probably all tied in to the same basic problem and eminently fixable with a multimeter, door latch or two, soldering iron and Nanocom.
In anticipation of buying a Thor, I've added the licence to the GEMS one on my Nano
Morat & Chris:
I saw that ad. Looks great and promises a lot, but it's got a £2500 reserve on it and it's a trader. Doesn't smell quite right either. Don't know why- can't put my finger on it.

How did you figure out the reserve? My ebay-fu must be weak :(

I've got some REALLY expensive software that goes into the database to extract all that sort of information

or

I read right to the end of the blurb:
"Reserve is set at £2500 and I am hoping to achieve a little more so please do not ask what the reserve is or make me silly offers."

Damn- according to eBog rules he has to wait 48 hours from sending in a non-contact request before the bid can be struck out and a second-chance offer made to me!
Patience isn't one of my virtues, but going to have to wait until Tuesday lunchtime now...

Fingers crossed. I got mine off a second chance offer, about £30 under Mr N.Show, and its done well for me.

OK, so that one didn't work out!
This one looks interesting:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-LAND-ROVER-RANGE-ROVER-VOGUE-SE-LPG-LOW-MILES-LONG-MOT-/262690497784?
Shame about the bloody awful pictures and the fact it's so far away.
It is the right colour and spec though

So, is it worth jumping on a flight up to Newcastle to look at? It's my perfect colour, last of the line, low miles, lpg, as high fit out as you can get but-
looks like damage to OSF bumper, who knows what's hidden under those carpet protectors, nasty tyres and probably mismatched spare.
I'm in a quandary- £258 (flights, hotel, cabs) to have a look at a car?
Or wait for one to come up further south?
If I don't jump now, it'll go, if it's as it's described
and, if I go for it, it'll probably blow both head gaskets, throw at least one EAS terminal fault, and the ultra cheapy tyres will fall off on the 350 mile drive home

The auction doesn't end til next Friday so I can see that price climbing significantly ............... I'd contact him to see if he'll accept a 'buy it now' bid

A nice rig, worth to know more about it. Photographs are clearly overdone with the contrastbutton but you know what the colour should be. The first piccy shows the parkinglot, if this is his regular place I should ask if it has a leaky oilcooler, seeing the stains on the ground.

BTW what's that extra canister on the midconsole, drinkingbottle? Nice car though!

Guessing he will Shep. That's the urgency!
Tony- I can live with a few replaceables, as long as it drives home without imploding, but a good spot though. Missed that.

That's a mobile phone mounting thing on the centre console. Seen them on eBay a couple of times. Fairly huge horrible things, but removable.

2500 doesn't seem bad, late model, I bet those carpets are like new under all those mats, i bought one like that a few years back, was mint, regret getting rid of it,, if it's what you want, go for it, your be kicking ya self otherwise, it's bound to have a few niggles, it's a p38

It was sitting with a Buy It Now of £2,500 until it got it's first bid but that option has now disappeared. I would suspect if you turn up on his doorstep with folding in your pocket, you'll get it for that or maybe a bit less if you can find any haggling points.

Hmm. Suspicious from Sussex wonders how much credibility a guy who puts cheap ugly wheels and low end skinny tyres on then raves about riding on air comfort. His wifes daily driver too forsooth. Seen similar before on other vehicles where what's said about it ticks all the boxes but something desn't quite run true. Proper inspection shows that all the good things that were said about it are technically correct but poor execution and cheapy substitute components mean what you get is a lot down from what you thought you'd bought.

Long road trips to look at do affect your judgement. Its easy to convince yourself that any issues are minor when you'd walk away if it were just down the road. Been there, dunnit, got the T-shirt and a Bristol 603 under cover on the drive waiting for enthusiamn levels to rise again to prove the point. 10 years might do it!

According to 2nd pic it should come from the expansiontank. Nothing mentioned about engine, looks good though, and has brakecalipers in matching colour!
