The tint will come off easily enough with a hair dryer (although getting the glue off afterwards can be real fun) and the wind deflectors could soon come off too. At least it hasn't got the light guards that leave holes in the wings. Body looks pretty good too except for the dent in the tailgate. I'm not sure about green either but I prefer light colours anyway.

Now I know you can't look at both sides at the same time but am I the only one that's noticed that the drivers side door handles have the remains of chrome covers on them but the passenger side ones haven't? Mind you, a guy I used to work with had a Disco that was bought direct from Land Rover where it had been a pool car used by the bigwigs. That was metallic burgundy but had silver pinstripes on one side and grey on the other. He owned it for almost a year before I noticed it and he never had.

Hadn't spotted the door handles! By strange coincidence though, the only Epsom Green P38 upper tailgate for sale on eBog happens to be collection only in Cornwall. It's almost as if the holes in the cheese are lining up on this one.
Of course, even if it turns out to be as good (!) as it looks and runs like a Swiss watch, with impeccable service history, I still have to win the auction at the right price.

Both sides seem to have something odd going on with the door handles. It's like the plastic has aged differently between the actual handle and 'other bit'. Nothing a matt black rattle can wouldn't sort out, and as they're textured, it'd be pretty durable too.

I quite like the tints... and the wind deflectors. They're not drug dealer dark, but not pointlessly light either.

I suppose the wind deflectors will come in handy when the aircon ungasses itself and you need to cool the interior on our 3 days of summer.
The car's obviously been heavily detailed for the pics so I wonder why they didn't do the doorhandles?

What I am missing are pics of the engine bay, this usually tells a lot about serious maintenance or if it's only a shiny outside that counts. If you are going to have a look try to get as much info as you can. (VIN or/and engine number). Let us know anyway.

This one's rather lovely- and in my favourite colour too:

Now you are talking, that one I like, a much better colour. The wheel wobble will almost certainly be down to the L322 wheels as I bet there's no spacer rings fitted. Although the badge says it's a Vogue, the badge is in the wrong place (and the V8 badge has been fitted as well) but I thought that colour, the red carpets and red piping on the seats was only used on the Westminster? So I suspect it's actually a Westminster in disguise.

So what's wrong with it... he's saying worth over 4K, so why so cheap... all those 'special edition' ones that were 8K+ won't have had half what he's saying that's been done to this one - so what's the catch?

The Vogue badge looks like it is in the right place - but the V8 is definitely aftermarket.

Sort of looks like a Bordeaux- trim and fit-out right, but they never came in a 4.6?!

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, he's using eBay as it's meant to be used, as an auction. The ones you see at £4k+ are all being advertised by dealers but do they ever fetch those prices? I suspect they don't or not through eBay anyway. He's put a start price that he expects to attract attention and get a few bids (maybe) so it will sell for the actual value rather than what a dealer thinks he can screw out of an unsuspecting punter. I do the same, put a start price of what I hope to get, if it gets it great but it may go even higher so that's a bonus. If you buy from a dealer and start asking questions you'll either be told what he thinks you want to hear or he'll simply say he doesn't know whereas if you buy from an owner, especially one who has owned the car for a while, you stand a pretty good chance of finding out the truth.

I suspect it'll be a £3k plus car anyway. Too rich for my pocket

My parent's car is a Bordeaux. Same carpet and red piping on the seats, though its alverstone red as opposed to the usual P38 Rioja red (which makes finding a new wing a pain in the arse). The door cards are a bit different on a Bordeaux though - no wood inserts, and no wood trim on the centre console/window switchpack. No chrome strip on the side either, but does have fully colour coded bumpers. No fogs, heated screen or seats. Basically, a Bordeaux is like an SE with some fancy wheels, carpet and leather. Only came in the 4.0 too.

So it most likely is a Vogue I'd say. See what a vehicle info lookup returns?

Oooooh...that red one looks nice!

If I didn't already have one I'd be sorely tempted by that one!

Gilbert, have you ever had to remove window tints? My Focus came with them on all windows except the windscreen. Took me hours using a hair dryer and a steam cleaning machine. Had to take the front windows out of the doors and strip the bootlid down to get at the rear one. I gave up and left the rear side windows (3dr car, the windows don't come out)!

My P38 has tinted windows but they thankfully left the front windows alone. I'd like to remove the tints as I think they're too dark and I can't really see much in the rear view mirror but the thought of doing it again doesn't appeal.

The number plate's hidden. Usually my first port of call is registration info and MOT history, but more and more people are hiding reg numbers now. Fear of cloning and all that :-(

Yes, a few weeks ago on an imported Audi RS7 (now that really is a fun tool!) that had tinted front windows which had to be removed to put it through the IVA test (along with refitting the cats so it would pass emissions). As it was a nice warm day, the film peeled off fairly easily but it took about 3 evenings to get the glue off the windows. Ended up using Nitromores and a plastic scraper as white spirit, meths, cellulose thinners, petrol and brake cleaner didn't work.

Problem with the rear windows on a P38 is that you need to be very careful or you can damage the etched aerials for the radio and keyfob as well as the heated rear window.

Well it didn't sell so you'd better hop over there and haggle!
Looks like a nice machine and the driver's seat looks perfect in the photo.

Not my colour, darling, but I can see you pulling it off ;)

Oh Morat, you're sooooo conventional. Your seat fetish hasn't responded to the electroshock therapy either :)
Listing was pulled 6 days early. Suspect a deal was done behind the scenes
