Weird it is indeed.

If I stick ignition on, then crack the banjo union, there's fluid there and also at the top two bleed nipples. Just nothing on the "Low pressure" side.

Unfortunately no artificial aids, just me on the calipers and the eldest girl on the pedal.

Now I am stumped.

Went on to bleed the front caliper and nothing. Went back to bleed screw 1 and nothing. Messed around for a bit then gave it some ignition. Pump fired up no problem and I’ve got fluid at the “High pressure” bled screws high up on the modulator, but still nothing at the original one or the caliper.

Seriously confused.

I’ve gone back mentally through the mod rebuild and happy that everything went back as it came out so I’m very confused. You’d think gravity would do half of it!

If you start running out of height sensors, Fritz at Eurospec has a set that I was sent in error. Apparently early ones differ and are handed (so I'm led to believe) anyway, they wouldn't calibrate either with his LR kit or Nanocom. We located another set here (at twice the UK price - of course) and I left my old (new) ones with him to sell.

He may still have them, but will they do for a 1997 NAS? I think '97 was when they changed but I've really no idea if they'll be okay for you.

Sounds like your having fun there?

I'm just loving brakes at the moment!

Yeah, I tried the pedal bit but nothing.

Russell responded not to worry too much and crack on with the rest of the bleed. Says he's had it before.

I'll resume in the morning.

I was just worried I'd done something wrong in the rebuild, but the modulator only really goes back together one way, and the pedal is super smooth.

I'll report back!

After a wait of several weeks, my new hoses arrived yesterday so I fitted them up this morning, ready for the great brake bleed.

Remember I'm starting from an empty system.

Step 1 in RAVE, as you’ll all obviously know, is to bleed the master cylinder. “Open bleed screw on booster, when fluid appears, close bleed screw” etc., etc.

Reservoir is full but, I’m getting no fluid at the bleed screw.

Any ideas?

I've mailed Russell to see if he's come across this before after a modulator rebuild.

I also have a question, but I'll do a separate thread, maybe move it here later.

Anyway, no it can't be done in-situ as the bits with the placcy washers can only be accessed when you remove the pedal fork, and you need to drift two pins to get it out. So you need to get in there as well. Shame...

I don't speak for anyone else here but myself; I don't have an issue with you having that link in your sig Marty.

Nope, me either.

If you do decide to replace flexis, remember '97 was the changeover year.

You know how I know! :-)

Having just been pointed in the direction of Furness Car Co, top man Orangebean, I find they are a goldmine of interior plastics. Before I contact them (anyone have an e-mail address for them, can't spot one yet?) I have a quick Q.

I need a new binnacle surround as I'm sure another bit falls off each time I close the door but...The likelihood is that any available will be from a LHD vehicle and my question is; Apart from the fuel filler release button being on the opposite side - which doesn't bother me - are they handed in any other way (shape-wise I'm thinking), or do we reckon one could be made to fit a right hooker?

Bought mine used from Furness for £23.00 inc N/D delivery.
Compared to £133 for a new part it seemed like a sensible choice as you can easily test it as soon as you open the box!
They're my supplier of choice for most things used. Parts are always clean, 90 days no quibble warranty (never had to use it though) and good quality.

May I nominate this for Link of the Year? Just had a nose through their site and they appear to have 95% of all the interior plastics I'd previously ordered from a certain medical person, and have since been looking for again.

Utterly brilliant. Thank you!

A teensy update as I was thinking about stuff, which is often a bad thing...

You'll remember that all this gubbins here...

Is located by this here plug...

As you can see, there's an internal step and the end is open. No doubt this has contributed to the rust and crap you can see.

So...

I found a little plastic bung, popped a small breather hole in it and stuck it in the end of the plug.

Will it help in a future dismantling? No idea!

God alone knows what's in mine.

The head unit is a Blaupunkt Heidelberg (IIRC) with a matching 10 CD changer, which is very firmly in "Stuck" mode. Looks like they were fitted here in around 2004. As far as I can see, all the speakers I've looked at, whilst doing other things are shot as well so I may have to bite the bullet one day and replace the lot.

At least I'm not bothered about the steering wheel controls.

Good luck with yours.

Doesn't look like GeorgeB will be getting his long awaited parts then...

I'd kinda, sorta given up on them anyway! :-)

I love the way he says he won't be replying to the thread. I may just go an comment anyway!

The nothing outside the US is new. He originally told me he shipped all over the world with no problems. Then I started asking around...

Edit to add:- I've just seen this at the bottom of the one in the For Sale section - "If you are waiting for parts from me for a previous orders, your order will be ship in the next couple of days!" That's a relief!

Now awaiting a message from RRTH no doubt!

Glad you made it in the end!

Good stuff! Nice to see it's all settling down.

Hmm, I wonder if it's worth organising a group buy of these kits? How much was it?

I pointed Russell towards the site in an e-mail yesterday, so he may pop in?

At least you've made it to a sticky George!

Infamy at last!

As I said, the instructions were very good and easy to follow, but as most of us won't be doing this on a daily basis, I thought it was worth telling what I found to be easiest. Or should that be hardest? Especially for those who are LHD as well.

I don't suppose one of you guys with the kit and a digital caliper would be able to measure the width of the rubber part of the O-ring for the 3 which go on the bit with the filter? I thought they were 1.5mm, but having fitted them to that unit, I'm not thinking they are a bit bigger.. I measured the groove they sit in at about 2mm, but wouldn't mind a second opinion before I go and put it all back together!

Damn, three days ago,the answer would have been yes!

When I bought mine in Jan 2016 it was AUD 165 inc postage, which is around £103.00 at todays exchange rate.

This sounds about right.
