Did a huge list and then it vanished without publishing :-( Will re-type it in a bit...

What year's the shed? I'm preparing a list of bits I need :-)

Once you've got the carpeted panel off, just grab the 2 brass coloured actuating rods and pull them towards each other. Harder to explain than to do- only 3 arms there, 2 connected to a rotating link (your target ones) and 1 to solenoid.

I've used Chipex on a 1998 Golf VR6- good colour match, even with sun fade over the years. Not cheap though.
This one from Rimmers is shown as genuine. Lot cheaper:

You could buy this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Range-Rover-P38-EAS-Air-Suspension-Diagnostic-Cable-for-EASSuite-Kicker/131459672493 if you have a suitable laptop, and pay 6.50 to have it express delivered, but you still won't get it until next Tuesday.
Same with this- no laptop required though http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Air-Suspension-Reset-Tool-Range-Rover-P38-EAS-Kicker-/370694787338

I did wonder about the hardreset advice but have seen it spoken about on the 'other side' so I tried it. But having just spent 30 minutes reading here http://www.rangerovers.net/newrremedies.html#suspension I realise now it is going to have to go to the shop or I am going to have to wait for Gilbert. It is right down on the stops on all 4 corners so it is not a comfortable ride though and I live in the boonies. All because of a sodding pothole.
I can download the software but don't have the cable :o(

Unfortunately, disconnecting the battery does nothing apart from unset your windows, sunroof and radio. Your local 4x4 obviously know Jack about the P38 and its ways! There's no such thing as a "hard reset". Only way you can clear the fault is with a dedicated tool- Nano, Faultmate, Hawkeye etc. You can still download EASUnlock v2 from RSW free, but you still need the correct custom cable to interface with the laptop.

If you've got a grinder, welder and some scrap, you could probably knock one up for nothing :-)

I can cross the window regulator off the wish-to-do list. The crunch when opening the window the other day was the mech slicing through the black wire on the latch! It was only this morning I realised C/L, door ajar and boot weren't working. I wonder who the last person was to work on the latch and not secure the wires properly (ahem- shamefaced)?

I reckon we could turn this into a summer camp :-) Headliner's shot on mine (stapled up by a P.O.) too, as is the rest of the interior. Every single panel is broken/ missing fixings or trim parts. Don't think I'd start with the headliner though. Martyuk wrote:

There is actually a guy up on the farm area with a workshop who does car spraying and the likes. He used to be in the workshop that myself and my mate now rent, and he's moved into a bigger place, so I guess business must be ticking over for him.

I was thinking also about trying to do my headliner - I have a headliner back (with sunroof) that I was going to re-trim and put in mine - but if there are enough of us, then again, maybe we could approach the places on the like of eBay that do the material/glue kits and see if they do a discount for a bulk roll of the fabric/ high temp adhesive?

I have a feeling that I also have a complete steering column in the workshop from one of the ones we stripped for parts if required.
BMR kit /brake service should be easy enough - likewise on the LPG. I caught a whiff of gas under the bonnet on mine again but doesn't seem to be from the feed hoses - I've replaced all the injector hoses with new 6mm hose, but thinking I might try and replace it all with 5mm to make sure it's a nice tight fit.

Marty

Now THAT would be ambitious for the weekend! I can spray, but only equipped for good old cellulose paint. Modern 2 pack stuff needs a fully equipped spraybooth with heating/ forced extraction etc and I don't need that for the low volume of old cars that I have to deal with

I've promised mine a respray and interior valet before the end of August, anyone any good with a spraygun?

So, 1 more and we've got a full house then?! Sloth, Oldshep56, me, Gilbertd so far. 2nd/3rd July as the dates. I'm going to have a hunt around for a B&B/ Pub near to Marlborough as cheap as possible for Friday and Saturday night as it's likely I'll travel up on the Friday. I'll post it up here when I find something. Is everyone else "commuting"? List of possible fixes for me to choose from for mine, not in any order- just things that need attention:

  • Steering column tilt and slide mech fix (if Sloth has one in his breaker bits)
  • LPG system runthrough, service and setup
  • BMR kit install and brake service
  • drivers window regulator (ditto Sloth!)
  • engine ECU and Tornado chip swap over (if I get the unlocked one from Mark Adams)

What's weird with S & A is that buying their stuff through their eBay store is generally cheaper than buying from them from their own online store.

Condensers tend to be vulnerable to flying stones and other FOD. Ask me how I know!

I tend to buy 20L at a time of this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATF-DIII-DEXRON-3-Semi-Synthetic-Automatic-Transmission-Fluid-Oil-20-Litre-/370282353380
or 2 of these would do the trick and leave some spare:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATF-DIII-DEXRON-3-Semi-Synthetic-Automatic-Transmission-Fluid-Oil-5-Litre-/250521944613
I use Smith & Allan stuff oils etc on everything I build or run. No complaints or issues yet and very fast delivery!

Wouldn't want to miss the GP so that's 8th to 10th out for me as well. I've a couple of 1/2" air impact wrenches, 3 tonne trolleys, axle stands, Nano, ELM bluetooth and Torque Pro for data logging, compression tester, hydrocarbon sniffer kit, all the usual hand tools...

I'll bring a Gazebo or 2. It's bound to be pissing down :-)

Think I'll have to do something to mine more imminently. Coupled with my random occasional cutting out problem, I only got 100 miles out of my last 135 litres of LPG!! Not smelling rich so I'm thinking a leaky line somewhere. I'm avoiding driving past smokers and bonfires and am running on petrol at the moment :-)

LOL- now Richard's signed up I'll change mine to a complete overhaul of my LPG :-)

There are a scattering of B&B's from £30 night within 5 miles of Marlborough. Be an idea to find out what everyone's expecting to get out of the time though. 5 engine rebuilds might be too much for the workshop space/ tools/ time! I'm kindof thinking BMR kit installation for mine. Bit of synchronicity with your modulator swap Marty!
