Cheers, the ones listed come witha 2 year warranty which is why I'm considering trying one. I have heard of issues with holes not lining up, if the holes are too far out to be recoverable I'll send it back. If it fits then it should be good for at least two years. For just shy of £60 I'm thinking it's worth a punt. Particularly as I have no way of knowing if the rest of the system is any good yet (I have a new receiver/drier waiting to go on).

Awesome! Mine is in print in PPC magazine this month on show at a local car show. :)

Hello folks,

Has anyone any experience of these:

Ta, I shall make sure I am suitably equiped.

Forgot to ask, did you require any special tools to remove the viscous coupling and fan? RAVE mentions special tools but are they strictly necessary?

I appear to have tempted fate, mine has developed a coolant leak. It is dripping from the front off-side corner of the engine around the air-con compressor so I am suspecting either the water pump or thermostat housinf gasket. I have an oil seep from the front somewhere anyway so I'm going to take her off the road for a couple of days, pull the radiator (air-con condensor is suspect anyway) and sort as much as I can.

Cheers George, I shall bear that in mind. Haven't been on RR for a while, really must catch up. Just been so busy with other things.

I remembered why I didn't remove the bumper when I previously looked. s I said, mine had an A-bar fitted just prior to my ownership (seller removed it to sell seperately). All I appear to have on mine instead of retaining bolts is threaded studs prutruding with steel colars, tubes up against the structure within. I'll try the two nuts locked together technique to see if they'll budge but they look very dry.

What didn't look so dry though was the bottom of the engine. I appear to have gained a coolant leak that seems to be appearing predominantly on the front RH side between the block and the air-con compressor. The whole engine was pretty filthy so I gave it a good blasting with the pressure washer and will have a better look tomorrow after it has dried. There is no discernable play in the water pump so I am suspecting either the thermostat or water pump gasket as leaking down the timing cover and perhaps being blown round the side a bit by the fan.

I suppose that if I do end up stripping it all out to change one of them I could always check/replace the condenser whilst I'm at it...

Spent many a night deciphering ECU pins... keeping my fongers crossed. If I can help in any way let me know, though you are way above my competence levels with this.

Thanks for all of the replies. The thing hasn't turned up yet dissaointingly as I was hoping to fit it tomorrow.

I shall have a look at the bumper bolts and clips. Mine had an A-Bar fitted before my ownership and it still has the A-Bar bolts in place holding the bumper on. I know that when I originaly looked at removing the bumper for another job that they were tight enough for me to not bother and work around it instead.

I'll let you all know how I get on.

Hello folks,

Got a new one on its way to me. Rave says I need to removed the front bumper, is this really necessary?

Smiler.

Watching with keen interest. i did start looking at this myself but then remembered the list of projects in my sig let alone sorting out the house!

If I were to do it I would want to convert my curent DSE (even though it doesn't have traction control) but like you would want to retain the auto gearbox rather than fit a manual. I would of course have to change for a 4.6 transmission though to get the bigger torque converter.

Not sure if link works but this should

Circoli Water PumpProduct Code: 201110161

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

How much was the water pump and where did you get it from? Only asking as I may be taking the air-con condensor out of my DSE soon and whilst I'm in there, id they aren't too pricey, I may do a bit of preventative maintenance and replace mine.

Sorted, the lower slide pin on the nearside front calliper was siezed. Well done Marty.
I also checked the axle bushes whilst I was under there and am happy to say that they all seem sound with no visible perished rubber and no discernable movement when levered with a pry-bar.

Thanks for the replies. As friday afternoons are my 'car' time I shall forego the Scimitar and have a good look at the P38, checking all ofthe above.

Marty, I have to confess that I still haven't done anything with it other than clean it externally. I shall make an effort next oth or return it if you would like it back.

Hi folks,

My P38 drives really nicely but has developed a horrible shimmying through the steering when braking. There is a bit of play in, I suspect, the steering box (all rod ends are good, hub swivel ball joints replaced with good quality items 2 years ago, can't feel any slop in steering column linkages under the bonnet) but I feel no vagueness or wandering of the steering at all. The front discs are fairly recent and there is no pedale pulsing or dragging of the brakes. Take your foot off the brakes and it stops. The car drives straight and true so I don't believe any of the axle bushes are worn. Are these classic symptoms of anything? If it where an E34 5 series BMW I'd go straight for the upper track control arms but it isn't and so it doesn't have any.

Any help greatfully recieved.

Smiler.

Ta, and there are a number of them on eBay for around £10 delivered.

Thanks for the offer, if that part number is for the speaker mine is a PRC 8045 or an E26640 depending on which number is the part number.

As for the sliders, I have a brand new pair that I have now fitted along with the Britpart regulator. The window now works nice and smoothly.

Well I have had a parcel delivered containing a colection of filters, a window regulator mechanism and an indicator lense so that will get me started this weekend. Though I do now need to add a replacement drivers door mid-range speaker to the list after inadvertently pulling the wires out of the old one (don't ask).

I do however need to find the part number of the window regulator plastic sliders as mine are worn and are allowing the window to rock slightly as it goes up and down.

She's attending a local car show weekend after next so need to get her presentable to wave the flag for the P38.

Toyota and Honda must have come straight out of the manufacturers sales brochures. They need addressing...
