I took a trip down to Bournemouth yesterday; quiet roads, nice weather, and a clattery diesel so windows most definitely up!

Did get 30mpg out of it though...

I have heard back, $165AUD including shipping.

Marty, mine has shown no degradation in braking performance, though I don't remember picking up on the pedal feel when I first got it back on the road. I am just a bit concerned what the MOT inspector might make of it.

Let me know ASAP about the kit and I'll ask for two. He has asked me for my model year so I'm guessing there are subtle changes.

That's better than I expected, though still going to be tight.

I have emailed him, just got to wait for a reply. The old girl is going to be taking a fair chunk of the piggy bank this month...

Ta very much, I shall get in touch. I see he is based in Oz, how long did it take your kit to get over here?

I have clicky pedal syndrom and an MoT due early next month.

Where can I get one of these rebuild kits from?

I reckon it's the viscose coupling they use instead of a center diff that gives them the advantage.

Took my DSE out yesterday with its BF Goodridge urban terrain all season road tyres with snowflake symbol. My god it's good! I found an empty stretch of road (not hard to find) and floored it. She gripped and launched without fuss! Then try'd an emergency stop, sure the ABS kicked away but you still lurched forward in your seat. I might try it on the snow next :). (joke)

Just read that entire topic. He sounds like a good honest sort. Really am attracted to one but just don't have the finds at the moment. Though if it is taking time to gain numbers then it may give me time to divert some funds each month...

Used replacement on order...

Ah, they do a diesel version and I can add licences to it. That makes it more attractive.

Cheers, I have removed the glass and cannot see anything broken but the driver's side is only working (to a fashion) in the rearwards direction but did not come back forward. I suspect that something is amiss further back in the cassette.
I have managed to reassemble it with the glass panel in the correct closed position and gave unplugged the motor just in case I catch the switch.
As it's a headlining out job regardless I will just buy a good used one and swap them over rather than spend days with the thing in bits.

Thanks for the replies and confirming my suspicions. They deffinitely struck me as being designed to sell as oposed to designed to effectively repair.

There are a few complete sunroof cassettes on ebay at the moment with some offering delivery so I shall buy and service one of those. Though if I can lock mine back in the closed position for now it will wait as I have more pressing needs for my piggy-bank (without trying to find the funds for a nanocom).

I've a DSE, not that I won't ever end up with a V8 in the future. But my crystal ball is't tellig me which engine it will have (unless one is far superior to the other), so I'd have to flick a coin.

Whats the closing date for applications as even with discount it's going to take some persuading of the wife, particlarly as I've just spent mone on tyres and brakes and now the sunroof has broke.

Hello folks,

I opened my sunroof today and appear to have broken it. There weren't any noises but it is now stuck in the fully forward position but with the rear edge lowered. I cannot physical push the rear edge up and the roof only moves ever so slightly rearwards when trying to motor it back. The motor is driving something as you can still hear some mechanism movement.

I have managed to remove the cover strips each side to reveal the glass panel mounting screws so tomorrow I shall remove that and see if I can see anything.

Based on nothing other than the fact that I haven't found anything broken so far I am guessing that the guide rail system has a failure somewhere.

Has anyone ever used one of these
Repair Kits?

I'm a bit concerned that they don't look particularly robust and am suspicous as to how long it will last.

Regards,

Smiler.

What is the full price of the thing?

Our numbers are growing, beware the dirty revolution!

Hurray, more dirty diesels. Everyone kept picking on me at summer camp last year because I was the only one without a V8...

Another vote for dirty diesels. :)

Sounds like I need to hurry up and find time to rebuild Martys spare diesel FIP.

Hopefully my little snippets in the magazine will help nudge the P38s image in the right direction. I wouldn't recommend one to someone who isn't handy with the spanners but only because any P38 they buy from the general market will have twenty years worth of shortcuts and shody maintenance/repair to put right.

Didn't have a part number, might have failed to find and online parts catalogue. I shall go hunting for one.

Blumin eck, how come I couldn't find 'em?

Thanks very much, much obliged.
