Check the high pressure hose from pump to modulator ... better do it now because if it leaks badly it can spray the exhaust and catch fire ..

Now this one I find useful ....... note voltage is 14.2 at tickover after a run.

I have seen 14.3V here but only ever 14.1 in Dubai and sometimes as low as 13.8 in the heat after a run.

Hi All,

Just replaced the intermediate steering shaft with positive results, but there is still play in the steering box, which manifests itself as a clicking sound when passing over bumps.

Has anyone actually adjusted the box successfully?

I did it once on a previous P38 without much improvement.

I always wanted to know how to do that!

Yes, press the button and the flaps close .... but press AUTO and they open again.

And default to open on starting.

Yes, that's right ..... the default position of the recirculation flaps is open.

I though that the controller would close them at a certain ambient temperature but the car was much cooler with them closed.

Here is Portugal I like the fresh air, so the switch is on to allow the controller to set them open. (well it would if both motors worked!).

But, you have central heating!

Right, here's a link to all four snaps.

  1. Out of focus, this switch controls power to the RF receiver in case the car is left in a dodgy wireless area.

  2. and 3. USB sockets to power the tablet to keep daughter quiet on long journeys.

  3. Another switch ...... to shut off power to the recirculation flap and set it closed in hot weather.

  4. Mobile phone holder.

Cheers.

Portugal is fabulous ... best kept secret in Europe.

But we feel the cold after Dubai!

Here are some snaps of a few mods I've done:

Ah! Can I post photos?

Yes, unless both front bags or both front lines are leaking, it points to the valve block.

I might fix up another one from the several I've got lying around ....

Welcome!

How's going?

Thanks, Marty, I think I have enough.

Cheers

Interesting.

So, you can leave a door open fro example and the BECM will still sleep?

I think that's what you have just written, just checking!

OK, I'll be the first to ask a dumb EAS question.

Are you sitting comfortably?

Delay timer relay replaced with ordinary one years ago.

Problem ..... the car has always lost height at the front. The PO had fitted new bags (not Dunlops, the other kind that look like Arnotts) and when I got the car the front dropped after a few days standing.

I fitted Arnott Gen 3s about 3 years ago .... same problem.

Overhauled the valve block a year ago (existing one looked fine). .... same problem.

With cold weather here, the front now drops in half a day.

However, it always jumps to attention when starting up. The rear of the car stays up for weeks.

I've checked the pipe connections at the VB and bags but not recently.

Strange that both fronts drop like that?

Any comments welcome .. it can't be that hard to find, can it?

Thanks for the thought.

The right hand door bass speaker has been rattling when the bass is heavy .... really annoying and I put it down to poor quality RR parts .....

Bought a set of 4 replacements from the US which appear to be better quality. (I had been influenced by the Stockholm site).

Went to install the first one yesterday ......... what was the problem?

Someone had replaced the door card and left the mid-range speaker plug unconnected and resting against the bass speaker cone ..... cause found.

Original HK bass unit looks fine!

Ha Ha!

Good thing was that the install was easy and satisfying to do.

I can vouch for the GROM .... I think the latest is something like "USB 3" (I have USB 2plus).

One thing to watch is that the USB music controller and Bluetooth are always on ...... I think they draw about 300mA combined. Although calculations show that this would take a considerable time to flatten a battery (Richard!), I remain convinced that it was taking the edge off mine.

I firstly changed the feed to the ignition side, but then the USB controller forgets where it was and always returns to CD 1. Most annoying, especially if you are listening to an audio book.
Now I intend to reconnect the USB part to always on but connect the Bluetooth receiver to an ignition feed.......

It works very nicely with phone call handling, navigation instructions from the phone, and also will play FLAC files.

If you need any help with the installation (on line that is) just shout.

Thanks so much ... all printed out ready!

I'd like to replace with LED all the lamps it is safe or practical to (I guess this means the cabin ones).

Any to avoid or any recommendations?
