Finally finished off my 4.6 discovery 1 auto off roader
Rebuilt diesel pump for my 300tdi discovery 1
And did full service on the TD5 automatic discovery
Fitted replacement transfer box in DSE
Busy month

If and it's a big if Everyone in the country didn't pay it and carried on regardless ulez wouldn't exist I blame COVID
99.9% of the population did what government wanted without questions So then they realised they could do more or less whatever they want and population will put up with it .
Funny about the loophole though

Found out today that 4.0 literally is ulez compliant yet 4.6 isn't So how's that then Should mean 4.0 will be worth more --- as far as p38s go anyway

Have you tried Tom at roverviews
He's breaking another P38 But I'd bet he got what you want and he does eBay too

When I had that on my td5 it was abs shuttle could it be that ??

All I did with mine was cut into old stops with a knife and then put grease in centre of new stops and pushed them on

Spent time at work rebuilding diesel pumps for 300 TDIs --- getting a p38 rolling chassis tomorrow so can fit Cummings 6bt and focus or Mondeo body c

The cold weather probably turns rubber seals to solid state so causing leaks the push in seals on plastic pipes are good at that 🙄

Happy new year to everyone Been away due to work but glad to be back

Got so fed u with leaking sunroof I gave up and scrapped the vogue minus engine for my disco off roader --- definitely won't miss it as hardly used it due to odd issues with the electrical systems probably due to Niagara falls ruining it

Had a great wedding anniversary today .my vogue decided the water pump should fall Luckily nothing broken up or cooked Just bearings gone .
Then the TDI to v8 discovery 1 decided it play up with a missfire ----- turns out lead not on plug properly So after that little lot got video done to prove failure for warranty

It's probably getting under roof strips and running down inside A pullers ----- quite common on P38

Mine does the same noise I put it down to timing chain flutter as no guides and the noise is on slack side of the chain ---- not worried about it as seems a typical rover thing

I went last year to the one near reading there wasn't much P38 stuff mostly silly defender parts ----- had a building open with lots of new stuff clothing tools etc Definitely worth going you can pay on the day too Malvern is end of February I've never been to that one only been to Newbury showground so much walking though so definitely wear sensible footwear

I found the problem ---- had tiny split in vac pipe to the distributor ---- used WD 40 spray to find it And I cleaned the idle valve up then put a drop of bike oil in the sprung shaft --- cured

Just thought I'd mention super glue cover gasket to cover on reassembly as it helps immensely

when you say erratic idle do you mean it revs up and then comes back or dose it miss and fart about and tries to recover it self.

It just rises and falls at idle

I've built a 4.6/3.9 hybrid V8 the engine starts runs no leaks But idle is up & down I've sprained cleaner on joints for leaks--- none found ---- could it be stepper motor?

Must be going somewhere I'd guess rear seal and it's filling bellhousing as for water could be under expansion tank ---- possible head gasket starting to fall or small leak from heater matrix ---- lift carpets you'll soon know

Can't see it's viable I got my TDI due to owner being charged ÂŁ15 a day. However if no one payed up at all The idea would soon drop But English people got no fight in them --- Whatever is planned by authorities People follow Just like sheep So I can't see getting V8 done way things are +--- I've just done TDI out 46/3.9 install ---- but I don't have big brother breathing down my neck
