Simple solution take engine out of the and put it in range rover ---- I've got a Buick 300 V8 in a rover p6 I'd have swapped out but I couldn't handle 7mpg 🙄
If you remove inlet manifold valley gasket you can see camshaft rotate engine by hand you soon see if lifters go up and down the same amount ----- but issue could be MAF sensor not cam
Picked up td5 commercial from work today so cheap almost theft Still got 4 month MOT. Gearbox synchro gone between 1&2 but I got a box for it anyway --- should make a great work wagon for me
My mate at work had his V8 defender over pressurised and chucking coolant out ---- he drained it all out and flushed out any antifreeze Then he put bottle of Steel seal & put 5 litres of water in it then started it up ran for few minutes saw bubbles stop then put cap on left running for a while Anyway he did that to get home Still running really well after 2 years ---- he topped off level with blue anti freeze ---- so it surprised me
Removed& repaired seals on sunroof & change glass also fitted new roof liner
Cleared out load area of tools / outboard engine parts etc so roof liner swap tomorrow 👍
There's a Halfords garage near me --- they do MOTs and air-conditioning --- cheaper than the kit for DIY they sell in store --- odd that ?
Mark put his above the brake light so clearly visible---- he doesn't get bumper riders anymore ---- all I've got is solid steel channel /spare tire and tow hitch----- any car welcome to see how hard it is 😁😁
Yesterday complete strip down on front hub and rebuild outside in the lovely weather and today did other side and fitted braided hoses too ---- tomorrow put 300tdi engine back into disco after full rebuild so should last my lifetime
Put some packing under loop ---- that should cure problem
Got his spare set rebuilt and calibrated this week so fit them on Sunday ---- it's definitely blowbye not fuel did chemical analysis in R&D at work ---- that's how I know it's blowbye 👍
I use a discovery 1 300tdi manual as daily --- yet met a guy who got a 4.6 gems on springs and he getting rid of his TDI --- car makers use cheap items so you replace vehicle every year ---- that's why they all look the same for the woke phone zombie generation
The camshafts are weakest part of 4.4 ---- most post m51 BMW cams are a metal tube with the lobes heat shrink on ---- which means they can and do move --- writing off the engine that's cost cutting at its best
Right then --- today spent half my day at work searching the following info ---- the washer is Put on during injector assembly so you need to strip injector to fit sealing washer Unfortunately you need injector setting machine for reassembly as will effect as spray pattern ---- So as it's blowbye I'm going to try liquid PTFE on treads --- I'll update tomorrow if it works as should
I've got the tools for removing the m51 injectors --- but I didn't want to take 1 out as he still needs it for work --- if I get 1 out Friday I'll see what I can do as far as sealing washer goes 👍 I honestly can't see any benefit of DSE over V8 ---- fuel cost/mpg etc Still if I get a result I will pass information on
I'd put a decent battery on it --- my bosses 322 sport had same issue so nicked battery from Dyno room --- fault fixed 👍👍
I've forwarded the information and now he can either get rid of it to Roverviews and get a td5 or try BMW as per my suggestion --- that's why I think in the big scheme of things the V8 is best option --- seem to cared for more than diesel too ---- from my encounters anyway
Ah he's got a major issue then ---- cheers for that---- I'll let him know ---- maybe time to get something else then
Welcome aboard 👍
As header stated mates got a dies hell and he got blowbye from 1/3/4 injectors --- he needs new seals but can't locate any --- part number might help too ---- it's definitely blowbye got nothing to do with return pipes in case you were thinking that 👍
