Mmmmm I prefer my Vogue's cherry bomb in place of silencer with straight through pipes it spits on over-run

You obviously have checked the fuse boxes haven't you

Spent all day getting vogue se ready for car show tomorrow ---- should be a good day

The twin pipes are more for style than anything else --- the whole system is not very effective from a performance point of view
I removed silencer and fitted cherry bomb then straight through pipes at rear ---- sounds great ---- can't see problem with 1 pipe at back --- most rovers with V8 only had 1 exit

Know you understand why I like the 300 TDI that costs £60 for 289 miles

The P38 V8 is the only version that will be worth keeping as the diesel has many engine parts no longer available It's not rocket science to figure out if chains wear ---- you won't get replacements so only option is engine conversion ---- but fundementaly not viable if you can't do it yourself
LPG on V8 is not really viable these days as less places sell it

That's why I prefer discovery 1 over P38 2.5 ok it was a weldathon But 300tdi is a great engine rough as ol' boots but with pump tweaks it'll blast a P38 diesel away ---- And parts are easy to get Ok it's rougher than P38 Some people are going for discovery 3 over P38 now that's what I found out at rover views anyway
Trouble with BMW is they don't believe in spares backup They rather sell you new model ---- planned obscelecence I'm afraid

Mine will squeel the tyres from standstill if I'm a bit eager to pull away ---- I have never used the sport button on mine --- I probably find it doesn't work ---- that would be my kind of luck

I put windows down and spray GT85 down window channels easy with thin plastic tube fitted to the spray nozzle
I've use this method on all my vehicles

I think all the drug dealers around this way given up selling drugs and sell fuel instead 😁😁 seriously though ---- it'll never go down because people are paying ---- if everyone kicked off broke fuel pumps etc --- like they did in France years ago Then price would come down 🤗 Unfortunately it's people are too wimp these days ---- Nobody wants to cause upset or offence

Well as most of the cost is tax & vat not only gas companies to blame -- pity you can't run bio diesel like my TDI does

I would say its head gasket as its low on 1 bank & leak between 3-5 probably water corrosion --- pink antifreeze can destroy h/gastets ---- had that happen on several Toyota 6 liter 6cyl ---- can't see it being valve's related as usually it's 7/8 has valve issues
As inlet coming off --- check cam lobes --- rods

My early vogue se spends most time parked up only for shows this year --- maybe I should sell it but nobody wants a 16mpg vehicle anymore
My disco 1s are at 196000 so just run in
They'll be laid up for summer as use the consul 58000 genuine miles so far
Bit of a short stroll compared to Gilbertd s P38 mileage--- doubt be that high if not on LPG ---- which is non existent 30+mile radius of me now

Hi pressure hose on eBay as for low pressure I'd do hose clamp

One thing you all forgot ------ small vacuum hose under inlet manifold to fuel filter housing ---- the little brass nipple gets blocked causing the engine to lose power under load

Today removed all the electronic throttle stuff including pump and fitted mechanical pump so now TDI needs pump mods and then ready for off roading 👍👍

I've had 2 p38s same issue --- xyz switch and ECU 🙄 I guess that switch failure took out gearbox ECU or vice versa

If you're fixing a slew of problems for a friend --- good luck with the friendship --- P38 is marmite --- you love them or hate them
Myself I wouldn't give a DSE houseroom However V8 that's my passion
So many diesels are neglected and have more issues than I'd care to mention
You definitely need rave and diagnostic
On here you will see just about ever issue p38s suffer from
Mine took about 1 1/2 years of hard work and cash to do --- now it's a show machine while I drive disco 1s daily

You can pretty much bet that whatever price you ask --- running or not ---- They will pay
Those things up in value like series land rovers ---- God knows why they're awful --- slow leak are about as waterproof as a tea bag
But for some reason Very desirable
The cheapest landys are p38s but these are slowly gaining in value

Hi mate so you took the plunge on a P38
I've come to the conclusion that diesel p38s get used and abused more than V8 p48s
I've got early vogue se and 2 discovery 1 300tdi,s 1 auto with sunroof and bars one owner from new p reg
Manual no roof bars or sunroofs
Both 7 seaters
This is the place to be with a P38
I build/tune marine diesels and tune mercury outboards
Hate water myself --- had enough from leaks on vogue
