Took vogue for mot PASS
1 advisory ---- near side front roll bar link bit worn
Ordered 2x heavy duty links arrive Monday
That's what happens ---- I blame these car shows on TV were they go on about how bought cheap /did it up / sold for huge profit ------ mate of mine got 3door classic I'm helping to restore in new year
I'd guess it's gearbox as when in drive it crawls ---- maybe filter getting clogged when left standing and once warmed up crud on filter moves allowing oil flow ---- that's just my opinion on issue
My vogue was showing revs on cranking but no spark when engine heated up ---- also when started from cold would hesitate then revs would even out then ---- stop and no start after that ----- new crankshaft position sensor job done -----but my omega had LPG and every so often had to squirt carb cleaner spray into main gas line to injectors to clean up the waxy deposit left by LPG
I only ever use genuine parts as cheaper don't last ----- found out long time ago the cheap part might do as a backup spare but you pays your money and take your choice ---- as a note today I saw 2 new range rover on breakdown lorries 61&18 plates
Found the issue ---- crankshaft sensor ---- I took it for a blast and it cut out soon as warmed up ---- but this time code showed up so problem can now be sorted ---- thanks for the help 👍
As said no faults ?!?! I am as baffled as everyone else ---- I wondered if a connector issue ---- would be a lot happier with a fault --- at least I'd have a clue were to start checking
My vogue now starts but if left idling as temp gauge moves up the engine revs jump for a second or so ---- it's odd 🤔
I've come to the conclusion my 300 TDI will replace my vogue from now on ---- the P38 refused to start so had recovery come ---- eventually it started checked for faults ---- none Today on way home gearbox went into fault mode ? Had no display of gear on dash ---- I can't be dealing with unreliable vehicle so sticking with 300 TDI at least that is easy to work on
If I had an issue with a part supplier I wouldn't use them again let alone be surprised by a problem again ---- I would go through PayPal in this incident and I'd do the same as you ---- warn others --- which I'm sure everyone here is grateful for ----- I do hope that you do get a full refund from them
Welcome aboard
I've got a 99 vogue se in Oxford blue and I don't have LPG not want it And I use mine every day for work/pleasure --- I've also got a 97 discovery 300 TDI which will take over work duty as my vogue is too nice for getting mucky all the time ---- p38s are great if looked after or can be a complete s#*t box if neglected ---- they were a top range vehicle when new but now due to neglected examples being greater than well kept ones means they're cheap which is bit of a thing really ---- why spend thousands on a later model which isn't as good in my opinion
Are the plugs leads properly pushed in ---- had that on mine ---- funny that was#8 ---- if it's lumpy idle that smooths out then must be plug/lead or firing order of leads incorrect
That's why super glue --- I've done quite a few and never had a problem ---- that's a trick I learnt years ago and just passing on
You'll find it helpful to superglue gasket to rocker cover before refitting
Or give Tom @ roverviews a call 07932141966 He got a few p38s breaking
How about using an aquavac to suck water out ?
My mates DSE don't have a MAF and yep definitely was gearbox ECU as said . Since then been on computer and everything fine so yes gearbox ECU can effect fuel being out of phase ---- as said before I can't understand why ECU failed ???
My mate mark got a DSE that would stall on selecting gears from park !? It didn't want to shift gears properly either so took it to a guy who put it on a computer and said fuel out of phase ? --- he said pump/injectors ? I asked him to get into gearbox ECU he said he couldn't 🤔 we fitted my vogue gearbox ECU and straight away computer got access ---- so after getting another DSE ECU the whole DSE transformed itself into a smooth gearchanging nice running range rover ----- still can't understand why/how ECU had failed
I've entered EKA code on a 97 DSE it worked same as mine ?
Or just paint over rivnut for now 👍 and if you plan to sell later put them back on as many like the fact they protect your lights from damage
