Technically nothing, but I did have to talk my wife through the EKA unlock over the phone. I don't know why it suddenly demanded the EKA, it hasn't needed it for months. Maybe my neighbour has bought a new radio controlled gizmo...

An RF filter would be a great idea - but the battery wasn't flat.
I wonder if it was anything to do with a certain 8yo being in charge of the key for a while. Is the P38 one of those cars where the rolling code rolls over if you press the buttons on the fob too many times without the car in range?

Yes. The code rolls over to the next one each time a button is pressed. You can get away with it a few times but too many and it loses sync.

It's probably delayed Karma from when a very annoying house mate at University had a car with the same system. She never paid her bills and never offered any of us a lift. She did leave her car keys on the mantelpiece though.... :)

I have a young niece who thinks it's fun to make the lights flash on keyfob remotes.......
Took my second visit to my brothers to work out what was happening. Sticky fingerprints on the fob were the giveaway.
I have stopped leaving the fob on his counter......

Leaving a fob where your flatmates can get it is about as dumb as leaving your 35mm camera out.........
You pick it up and notice there are a lot fewer shots left on the roll!
Tip: Always pick up your own photos from the processor..... I got some very "creative" photos......
Come to think of it, both are similar to the old practice of leaving a bunch of disposable film cameras on the table at a wedding reception so the guests can take their own photos for you...........Ohhhhhh!!! The Horror!

Fitted a Mahoosive Numax battery to the old girl.

Fills the tray length and height wise!

Took her for annual registration.

Only took 6.5 hours. Five hours of that was in the queue for emissions test (the only test they do) + an hour for the 5km drive home.

Needed beer.

The Old oil is magnetic, very odd.

Front diff is clean as a whistle.

Doing all fluids on Bolt today. (except trans)
Hope I don't find as much metallic silt!
Going to put some strong magnets on all 4 plugs just because........

Changed the rear brake pads on the Ascot (noticed one was just down to the metal the last time I drove it). Offside first, about 15 minutes start to finish, Nearside, one slide pin was seized solid. No amount of soaking would free it off so used my other method of drilling a hole in the end of the carrier, tap an M6 thread in it and screw a bolt in to push it out (then put a short bolt in to plug the hole after it's out). Stripped the thread on the bolt..... Drilled the hole out slightly larger and tapped an M8 thread in it. Stripped the thread on the first bolt I tried, so found a better quality one and that one just sheared off. So it's sitting on 3 wheels and an axle stand until LRDirect deliver the new calliper carrier.

For the price of them, I changed both rear carriers and front ones. Brakes work so much better.

Today I've spent most of it fixing the central locking.

Broke the tab that operated the key lock in drivers door last week :(

Some superglue, metal strips and then metal putty and it's back to working. Broke it while removing the lock mechanism to change the seized motor. Works a treat now.

Then on to passengers side as that wasn't working either. Seems the CDL microswitch was knackered.
Made one working lock out of 2 broken ones.
Changed the motor on that one too.

Tomorrow I start to change 1 or 2 diesel injectors as one is pissing diesel out of the leakoff stub.

After that I may do a autobox oil and filter change.

Also got in tank pump to change.

Then possibly friday when my 16ltr oil drain pan turns up, I'll do an engine oil and filter change.

Busy week this week.

But when it's cold it has the viscosity of a 20 grade? It only remains thicker when it gets hot.

Oh yes. Got in from work yesterday to find a calliper carrier had arrived so whacked that on, fitted the new pads and the Ascot now has a full set of wheels bolted on.
