lol! been there, done that!
start up from a traffic light and BANG pop goes the hood thought it was the top hose blown but heck of a hose .... left a trail of water I was 600m from where I had to go (kindergarten, we had parents' meeting and as I had been missing to all of them woman instructed NOT to miss this one) and needle rising and the scangauge going after 100 but I prayed hold hold hold ... left the RR in the parking lot with a puddle forming and I ran to the meeting ... told the woman "don't wait for me for dinner"
same as above, but I managed to save oil pipes that are only ... half crushed. Unfortunately the rad was torn apart and this mean over an hour to make the 4km from the kindergarten to home, and about 10 liters of water .... but it brought me home :-)
Culprit was the rad, 2/3 blocked by crud by PO replacing oil cooler but without going that extra mile (learned my lesson).
incidentally for all RRP38 haters, it was the only time in 30K km that it left me (momentarily) stranded, and it still came home. love the beast.

Very few bits to find. Mind you, still finding bits under the bonnet a week later and pulling them out!

Ouch!
Condolences and glad you had a "Local source" for spare parts! Tazzie being on a different planet as it
sometimes seems.......
(I tried to get a raw water pump for the boat shipped there and had a devil of a time)

As for what was done to the Rangie today?
It was pure abuse!
I used Bolt to shift a 20 ft half loaded shipping container about 10 meters across our block.
It was muddy and wet and the skids i was using kept on digging into the goo!
Got it done, and gave the beast a quick and well deserved water blast......
I am seriously impressed whenever I use the Rangie as a tractor!!!! The ABS system got a serious work out
and I doubt that I could have succeeded without it.
All in all a good day!

Nothing special, just drove it around.
Pic because it’s fun.

nice! :-)

the question is ...why would the fan disintegrate? Mine had no cracks and was not missing any parts in the blades ... however earlier in that year I had the water pump replaced ... and I wonder if some misalignment could have been the culprit ...

I don’t know, it isn’t something you really check that often. Was it a cracked blade or maybe the outer “ring” was cracked. All I know is that after 23 years, it decided it had had enough. But the bang was huge, the under bonnet carnage extraordinary, 10 days on I am still finding pieces of fan in and around the engine bay, cassis, body corners etc.

Plastic does become brittle with age, particularly ABS.
The plastic top of my (OEM) radiator burst a couple of years back with a big bang. I think it was about 15 years old at the time.

Still .... how many cars still going around with their fans ....

I've managed to rebuild almost all the damage, still got the oil pipes gearbox <> cooler which I dread to do ...
Good luck finding a complete and good looking bonnet AND insulation!

Had an RTFM moment.

Checking the rear wash and wipe for non functioning. Took the switch off and it was fine .Powered up the motor - it was fine. Powered up the pump - it was fine. Read the manual and shut the tailgate. Sigh.

Lol! Had the opposite when I first got mine. Couldn't work out how to stop the rear wiper at a point where I could replace the wiper blade. Spent ages trying to pull the fuse or relay at just the right moment and failed dismally. Then read the manual.....

DavidAll, hi, I wonder whether you could be having a problem with the non return valve, which is located behind the panel covering the rear lights, and the CD player. The washer tube runs up inside the bodywork panel.

I had a similar issue, during the summer, I replaced the non return valve and it has been fine since.

There could just be a tiny bit of "c..p" floating inside the water pipe and the blocking the valve.

Thank you Pierre,

it was just incompetence on my part. The wash wipe will only work with the tailgate closed, as I found out after a half day fri**ing around with it.

Happy New Year

Well, not something that I did personally. My next project was collected this morning from Halifax and is now sitting in the transport companies yard before being delivered on Sunday.
