The three I've ordered are from ebay and if they are any good they are reasonably priced between £25 and £40. I'll let you know.

Will do. As soon as I have date/time.

Thanks phazed. With both of us on the endangered species list it's probably safer if I enlist a couple of civilians who are not a risk.

Hope your wife's op goes well.

This video goes into more detail. It is in Spanish though!

I'm going to try and round up a couple of helpers this weekend and give it a go with the Martrim kit. I'll let you know how I get on. My thinking was that even if I mess it up twice it will still cost less than getting it done by a pro.

Getting the foam off seemed quite easy with a thin bladed scraper and just "ploughing" sections of it off.

I took out the front right side without any difficulty. Just lowered the window and it eased out quite easily. I'm waiting for the replacement so will update once it arrives but it doesn't look too hard. Famous last words!

Thank you David, that would be great. No hurry. It is only the left hand one I need as it has the top entry wiring. Why it should be the only one made that way is a mystery.

Glad you've found somewhere to sort it. If it's Joe in Bookham I'll be interested to hear how you get on.

I'm trying to keep as original as possible and the car arrived with a replacement left front ride height sensor which has the kit of tinfoil heatshield where the original set up had a plasticky/bakelite sort of cup over the sensor.

As the replacement sensor won't fit the old bakelite cup does anyone know of a source for the original ANR2494 or have one lurking at the back of the shed?

There is one in the U.S. used but otherwise they are showing as NLA.

Very happy to swap with the current sensor which reads OK on the meter.

I've dealt with Goldstar before and they are very straight. They are tucked down a soggy lane though!

I agree with Richard (Gilbertd), Martrim is the way to go. A very good service and I've tested their glue and it is very impressive.

Thank you Clive a third pair of hands would be most helpful.

I used a thin blade scraper to get the foam off and it wasn't too bad. The surface is still a bit sticky. Do we need to get all the old glue off?

I was shielding but my wife had a positive test - not correct in my opinion- so probably should wait until the 18th when I am released just in case.

Look forward to meeting up.

Finally!!
Looking more carefully at the track there are three bits of track showing through the roof frame. The frame was formed to provide really tight spring clips holding the track. After careful levering the track popped out. The shade faffed about for a bit and the tiny clips all fired off in different directions but strangely all visible and not lost forever. i suspect it had never been apart hence the difficulties.

I'm in Westhumble and was going to have a go at replacing mine. It's part of a much larger restoration.

I've got a kit from Martrim thanks to advice from others on the forum.

I'm currently locked down until the middle of the month but would be happy to share my experience. If you follow the workshop manual or RAVE it is fairly easy to remove.
If we could get someone else who has done it before along that would be brilliant.
Let's see if anyone else wants to do theirs as well.

Well, thanks again to Chris. I had the winning bid. I did offer £350 but the seller wouldn't accept and let it run so won it for £310!

It won't be in action for a while as there are no electrics hooked up at the moment so if anyone has a need it will hopefully be arriving in the next couple of days.

There's no problem removing the two screws that RAVE refer to but at the front the screw goes into a nylon threaded nut which goes through the frame. Trying to prise this up feels like it is going to break something. Maybe I should just be braver!

Good choice Morat.

I still can't make any sense of moving the tracks that retain the sun blind. I'm reluctant to try my strength flexing it out but the whole track seems fixed all the way to the back of the cassette.

Just as an aside to the front brake hose issue. Apparently Britpart and Allmakes no longer supply the bracket that fixes to the inside wheel arch.
LR ones are available £114 ish plus vat!

While waiting for a 3rd replacement osf brake hose - all the Britpart ones seem to have the top bracket missing, I thought I'd extract the sunshade as it needs to be retrimmed along with the headlining.
The manual seems to run out of detail after removing the drive cable locator. Removing the guide assembly screws seems logical but before I break a vital bit of plastic are the guide assemblies masticed to the frame?

Also is anyone else retrimming their headlining soon?

Thanks for the heads up. It's now at £300 and the buy it now has disappeared.

Thanks Aragorn. That makes a lot of sense getting a local guy to make something up. I've still got the tattered remains of the old one so it could be a pattern.
