Thank you Pierre,

it was just incompetence on my part. The wash wipe will only work with the tailgate closed, as I found out after a half day fri**ing around with it.

Happy New Year

Had an RTFM moment.

Checking the rear wash and wipe for non functioning. Took the switch off and it was fine .Powered up the motor - it was fine. Powered up the pump - it was fine. Read the manual and shut the tailgate. Sigh.

Repeating everyone else, have a great Christmas and hope you get that shiny new part/tool that you put on your list to Santa.

Thanks for all the help this year.

So, it's been a while.

It's getting to that stage when I have to try and start it.

Thanks to DavidH for the supply of an early LH ride height sensor now nestled in its half a dark choocolate Easter egg.

As an excuse to buy some hog ring pliers I wrestled with the passenger seat cushion element.

The rear screen managed to break itself -- well OK I dropped a centre punch on it and the new screen from Pilkingtons was too wide and the rubber side trin caught on the E post trim. They are sending one from a different batch to see if that fits better.

Having finally got the sunroof sorted the head lining has gone back in and the grab handles relented eventually with this encouragement.

The gearbox oil cooler pipe was a saga in itself in that the LR supplied pipe had the wrong nut. I think I put that in another post. Britcar were brilliant and got the problem sorted by using part of an engine oil cooler pipe.

The underside is looking a bit tidier than when I started.

Front suspension, steering and arch guards are in.

Now we are in Tier 4 there is no reason not to get on with it and order some brave pills before turning the key. Thank you to everyone who has provided advice and answers to even the dumbest questions.

OK, an hilarious result.

Package arrived today with the correct tracking number and contained---- two pairs of sunglasses!

Checking on Trustpilot found loads of other people with the same problem Ordering all sorts of different stuff and getting miscellaneous fake sunglasses..

So off to the credit card company to resolve it.

If something looks to good to be true etc. etc.

I've bought some bits from them and not had any problems. Sometimes they have stuff that no one else has and prices seem OK.

No, they just corrode together with the steel nut and the aluminium thread on the cooler. I tried everything to get them apart. Soaking, heating, freezing and in the end just sheared the threaded part of the cooler clean off. Why they put two different size threads on is anyone's guess as even I couldn't get them the wrong way round.

The pipe from the gearbox to the left side of the oil cooler on the manual v8 had seized so I needed a new cooler and pipe. The smaller cooler is NLA and the Bearmach was out of stock so had to choose a Britpart replacement. I don't know why but the left hand thread on the cooler takes a 27mm nut and the right hand takes a 24mm nut. That's the same as the engine oil cooler.

Britcar supplied a new cooler and LR original pipe but the LR pipe came with a 24mm nut. Britcar were very helpful and spoke to LR who said try a different pipe but with the same result. I took the pipe to our local Pirtek and asked them to change the flexible hose for one with the correct fitting from an engine oil cooler pipe but there was a lot of tooth sucking and "we can't recrimp old pipes" - even though they were new! In the end Duncan at Britcar, took an engine oil cooler pipe which has the correct nut on to his, next door, Pirtek and they changed the pipe over with no problem. So big thanks to Britcar who did all that at no cost to me and £70 to Pirtek.

Did get this update:-

Generally speaking, the tracking number will be working online 2 or 3 days laters and you will get your shipment around 7-14 days.

We shall see.

A little more digging shows that the company is based in Hong Kong. How it is possible to sell a battery with free postage at that price seems hard to believe. However I have had a confirmation of the order - number 11- and an email detailing tracking and delivery time.

This is the link. It seems to be too good to be true so we will find out!

This is probably a high risk strategy but someone called Devonprint have the Hankook MF31 1000 listed at £29.07. I've ordered one but will see what it is like when it arrives. What could possibly go wrong!!

You are welcome to use my Nanocom. I bought it on Ebay a couple of months ago and haven't even tried setting it up yet. I won't be needing it for a while yet. It looks a bit of a palaver but perhaps Richard can advise.

There are a few elements on offer on Ebay from £30. Worth doing a continuity check beforehand perhaps?

Red rubber grease

All done and really not too bad other than a crick in the neck. The old ones looked ok but I changed them anyway and just put a bit of RRG on for luck.

Before mine went to the bodyshop I removed all the windscreen trim which leaves enough room at the top.
The bottom rubbing strips seemed to come off most easily by prising the upper part out of the cupsacs and then the lower clips that fit round the body can be eased off.
If it's an early one the clips in the centre rubbing strips will break and then it's either new strips or gluing them back on as the clips aren't available separately.
I did remove the whole section around the rear window - 2 screws behind the rubber trim and then broke the lower part trying to get the rest off which is glued top and bottom. A replacement part is hard to track down but they are about. With the trim off there is plenty of room to mask.

OK my path is set. Whilst hoping for "nah it'll be fine" I was expecting "get on and do it."

Thanks everyone.

Things are edging along on the CVC. I am starting to put back the gearbox cover and dash trim and I can see the O ring location fairly easily not necessarily reachable easily but there is no sign of leaks. So should I leave well alone or do them just in case? The car has been sitting for about three years unused.

I've mostly used LR Direct and Island with occasional forays into Rimmers and have also found Britcar helpful for some bits. As others have said Craddock's advertise stuff as in stock and then take ages to refund when it isn't.
