I've rebuilt a EAS valve block. It was the perfect activity for a wet and windy Sunday afternoon and it was nice to get it off The List. Whether it works or not remains to be seen. The driver pack looks suspiciously crispy on the back...
I'm hoping to have a full Valve Block/Driver Pack/Compressor setup in the plastic box so I can stick it in the boot for long journeys.
cool, thanks! a very light amount of silicone grease has been applied.
I'll see if this valve block works and report back. Eventually.
The "fully tested" Valve block/compressor assembly will eventually become my spare once I get it working. I guess I should have made sure it was test as "working" instead of "knackered compressor and valve block that failed with a known good compressor" but caveat emptor eh? £100 doesn't buy you much on the bay of thieves.
So, what's the best lubricant for the O-rings in the EAS valve block please?
I've got the Vitron ones from X8R and they recommend Vaseline or di-electric grease.
I do have Vaseline, I also have some Silicon grease (from Carbusonic) which I think I used last time. A quick google for di-electric grease comes back with Silicon grease, am I OK to use this stuff on Vitron?

Running a treat!! Thank you Simon :D
Drove it to the cinema in town because shooting was cancelled due to 60mph winds... the Duchess was rocking in the drive as I was waiting for the family! So.. damn it's windy LoL.

You could say that about any law tbh.
£464? that seems a little spicey... do they have a big upside?
Funny you should mention that, I was messing around in the boot (putting in a new Christmas tree fastener to hold the side panel) and found my long lost 6 sided 10mm Socket :D
Fair enough. I don't imagine the second totally torn speaker is helping much. I'll keep my eyes open for another one. Good news is that just be removing and replacing the CD player - it's now working again!
I've fitted the first sub, it's alive and is getting a signal. Doesn't seem to make much noise though :(
Seeing as I'm expecting to go back in to it soon, I've just rammed the amp into the bottom of the box in those weirdly diagonal yet vertical grooves that look to be designed to hold an amp but are too close together for the heatsink on mine.
Fitting was OK once I realised you've got to take the whole thing out and apart...
Looking good! just wish they listed the colour. Ah well, worth a punt -thanks.
hi folks,
does anyone have a source for these irritating little gadgets please? Ideally in beige/lightstone.
The ones holding the subwoofer panel in place in the Duchess have given up the ghost and no longer grip. I ordered some at about 3.50 for 5 and then ended up with 10 quid postage! I hope they fit :D
Cheers,
Morat
Thanks folks! I was hasty and ordered one of the Daytons from Amazon, it was the last one in stock :( I'll fit it and see how easy it is, and hunt down another if I like it. I guess it won't make a lot of difference to fit two different speakers but it would annoy me!
Well done Richard - and great photo!
That sounds do-able! Thanks again :D
While I'm feeling RangeRovery....
Does anyone have any suggestions for drop in (or as close as possible) replacements for the twin rear subs? Mine now have the full "free floating cone" mod, so they're pretty useless. If there is anything that can be made to fit and will sound OK, I'm all ears (omg no)
True, but I already have one of those.... ;)
I had to put a new starter in my Jeep last month, it gave its last gasp as I tried to start it at the front of the queue for the Hull Ferry. I had to sit there while the whole queue drove past me onto the ship! Luckily a nice English guy who lived in Germany towed me onto the ferry and I was able to make arrangements for a recovery in Hull.
£100 for a starter and an hour on my back, really should have done that a week before!
ahh fun and games! We should agree on a location for a pint some time!
I have had a chance to compare the Duchess with and without side steps - because they only took one side off!! haha.
On the whole I don't think we need them, so I'll probably get her up high and start spraying PlusGas ahead of a monumental swear session. I might even get that airgun I promised myself so I can round the nuts off properly :)
