I wonder how much heat the NRVs need to resist? It should be possible to 3D print them in something like PETG that is happy up to 70 degrees or ABS that does -10 to +100 (ish) but is harder to print.
I'm sure it could be done with with a metal pin or a two part print and a spring.
I guess the acid test is a good fit with the correct size O ring?

Probably best to just swap it into your P38 I'd guess.
How much is a working one worth? I'm getting to the stage where I'd like on on the car and one to rebuild. The issue is NRVs because I can't find them anywhere.

I would think it is the actual manifold that has split at the flexi section and not just the gasket.

Yep, it's the manifold rather than the gasket. I'm seeing lots of them on the bay of E. I'm wondering how good a bet they are second hand.

Well, the news is good. It's an exhaust manifold and not the HG. So I've got a spare HG set to make sure the gaskets stay sound forever :)

Next step - source a passenger side exhaust manifold...

HAhah, let's say I work well under close supervision :)

I do realise this will cost me many Man Points in the eyes of the forum :)

Yeah, about that... NO :)
Having looked out of the window for the last couple of weeks I've decided that I'd rather go shooting and coach Rugby at the weekends, and it's too dark and wet to work outdoors in the evenings. If anyone would like to donate a dry and well lit space, I'd definitely have a crack.
Otherwise, I shall abuse the credit card and then work it off.
Sorry!

Mine is consistently damp in the boot carpet. No pools of water form underneath but it's getting quite fragrant!

Cold and VERY damp here as well....I did just take the heat gun to it and bathed it gently in warm air.....
Looks bright and new again........Until the damp gets it again.....
Where are Zebra strips coming from these days? I think I got the last one from Marty.....

TBH, I think it's just a weakness in the design. Even the one I got from Marty hates the cold and damp. It comes back to life eventually.

Wiped down the interior and got rid of the mould that had started to grow despite the dehumidifiers :( I suspect I haven't seen the last of that, but some mild Fairy solution seems to have provided a short term fix.
Stuck the Hankook back in the hole, rigged up another battery in parallel just for giggles and tried to run the EAS pump. Sadly the Nano just locked up both times I tried to get into EAS so I started her (first hit on the key!) and listened to the God-Awful chuff chuff chuff until she got back on her feet at standard mode.
So she's ready to go to the hospital for open engine surgery in the morning.

Hankook was still at 12.2V, charging at 14.2 (ish).

That's a shiny fleet! Welcome :D

To be fair to LR their plastics are no more shitty than anyone else’s and they really only design for a product life not exceeding 10 years. When dealing with 20 year plus plastics then some brittleness is to be expected no matter who the manufacturer is.
Garvin, I tend to disagree ... plastics from Mercedes and Audi cars until the mid 90s are far more robust, and pliable as well. They just resist better on time, regardless of use. I guess it all depends, as you rightly put it, on the "product life expectation". A W124 Mercedes seems designed and built with a far greater expectation ... so were the times!
Pity.

But back on the subject, how did it go with the dreaded fan?

And the they discovered SAP and the beancounters got their fangs into the engineer's budgets. :(

Put some dehumidifiers in her while she has a kip over Christmas.
The battery is now charged and registering 12.7V. Amazing. I suspect it now has the capacity of a AAA but we'll see.

Huh.. so if you're charging the battery with the bonnet open, the BECM will stay alive. Interesting.

Went to put the battery on trickle charge, seeing as she's not being used pending the new HG.
Realised I'd left the Nanocom plugged in. Battery at 1V. FFS!

That's Stunning!!!

Hardnott Pass is ridiculous! A good test of brakes to be sure. I once cycled up it with a group of mates.
Ok, no. What really happened was: I, along with a group of mates, pushed some bikes up Hardnott pass while dressed as cyclists 😃

EBC Green have great bite and they don't fade. Although I will admit, I haven't tried them on Hardnott :)

I've had front EBC drilled and grooved disks on the front for 50k. They're on their third set of Greenstuff pads.

I'm glad you're sorted out!
