Oooh...they do suede kits. A suede headlining sounds nice and fancy, befitting of a Range Rover

Welcome!

My headlining will also need doing at some point. It's fine as it is at the moment, it's only just starting to go in a couple of places.

The DSP replacement isn't too difficult - I did it based on Marty's ideas at the beginning of the year.

Where does the popping sound come from? I still have a popping sound at times even though I don't have a DSP or the stock head unit anymore.

My subwoofer cones are no longer attached to the rest of the subwoofer. The rubber suspension has fallen apart and when the amp fires the sub they pop and crackle. Might be worth checking if the noise at the back of your car.

Really? That's odd.

Do you have any settings in your router to stop that happening?

I upload to Imgur, right click my image there and copy image address.

I then paste that URL in to the forum when asked after clicking the image attachment button.

Yeah, I figured left and right were different hoped front and rear would match, for the passenger side at least.

Ah well, I'll chance a used front one then.

I recently replaced the little bits in the front door handles that wear out and cause them to stick/become stiff bit the passenger side one is still not quite right.

My girlfriend reports that it's getting worse and nearly needs two hands.

Will the handle from the passenger side rear door fit on the front door? They don't seem to wear out like the front ones and a used one should do the trick nicely if it fits.

As expected, a comment thread of full people touting unavoidable doom and gloom from the second you turn the key.

It's now visible to me.

I wasn't able to find it.

I got lucky and Gilbertd had a spare mirror that he had cannibalised for something else to fix his own and it was just kicking around. He let me nab the tiny white bit I needed.

Looking in RAVE, they're a pain the arse to get to - whole centre console out etc. Makes me want to go new to avoid getting a duff used one.

The problem is working out if it's a worn out motor or gunked up/seized flap in box that actually does the blending.

Is it possible for any items to fall in to the blend box and cause a jam?

My mirror was movable with no resistance (the air flow around it while driving was enough to move it!) and it turned out to be snapped connecting arms that connect the mirror to the motor.

They're straight bits with a toothed edge and a ball joint on the end. The toothed bit runs along the motor and the ball joint connects to the mirror.

Replaced the offending parts from a spare mirror and all was well.

Last year I had an intermittent book symbol and Gilbertd kindly read/cleared it for me and IIRC it was for a stuck blend flap.

I now have a permanent book symbol and the passenger side vents seem intent on pumping out hot air regardless of what I set it to.

I'm guessing this means the flap is now properly stuck for whatever reason.

Is this something that is only fixable with a new blend motor or is it possible that it's stuck for some other reason and needs taking apart to be freed? I'm reluctant to buy a motor and not need it but at the same time I don't want to take it all apart and find I need a motor that I don't have.

I'm getting the same as Gilbertd on Chrome on WIndows 10.

There was a pic there earlier

What's the best way to test these ball joints?

I get an occasional creaking when turning the steering wheel at low speeds and the car can be a little wandery. Figured the noise was the steering damper and the wanderyness was bushes but it sounds like it could be ball joints ☹️

Depending on what tools and materials you have available, you might be able to make something like this but a bit smaller:

Do you have any means of applying heat to it?

I picked up a small (butane powered, I think) blowtorch from Halfords a few years ago. No where near as much heat asa proper oxy acetalene torch but it managed to free off the brake discs that had corroded to the hubs.

I've not really tracked the costs properly but I'll do my best from memory!

Purchase: £3,200
Timing cover gasket replacement: £100
Full service (all fluids): £300
Radiator: £100
BECM Unlock: £100
Front air springs: £100
Drivers door latch: £70
Radio/amp replacement: £300
Exhaust (inc. cats): £330
Smashed tail light: £20
Offroad wheels/tyres: £350
2x road tyres: £250

So, £5,220 so far without counting fuel.

I've done about 18K miles since I've owned it, at an average of around 17mpg. At today's average UK petrol price of £120.5 that's £5,800!

So, around £11K in around 3 years so far. Eep!

LPG kit is booked in for later this month, around £1,600.

On the (ever expanding) list of things still to do:
Replace a couple of leaking coolant hoses (have parts, lack time)
Find/fix the leak letting rain water in through the passenger side heater ducts
Find/fix the water leak in to the spare wheel well
Repair various bits of interior trim with snapped screw tabs (they all rattle over bumps, very annoying!)
Replace sagging headlining
Clean rear sunroof drain tubes
Replace HEVAC blend motor
Replace various worn out rubber suspension bushes
Replace shock absorbers (vehicle is very harsh over bumps, certainly not a "magic carpet ride")

I must make sure my girlfriend doesn't stumble across this post...

Not Range Rover related, we're looking to sell some items on eBay but they contain small gas canisters (along the lines of a Sodastream machine).

We're struggling to find a courier that doesn't exclude such things as dangerous items but it must be possible because the same items can be delivered to us from various online places.

Anyone know of a courier that will ship things like this?
