Cheers Marty, I have to admit it was rather late when I started the search so I hadn't expanded my search that far yet. I have finished work early today so will now have a look. The last link you supplied above is showing delivery for tuesday which is doable if it fixes it.
Ta, already been looking (I previously had an E34 525TDS Tourer) but not much found on the first trawl. I'll have another look at ebay (only british seller is on holiday, rest are in eastern Europe) and see if I can pick out some part numbers and try my luck that way.
Hello folks,
Start laughing now and get it out of your system.
Finished? Good.
Does anyone know of an on-line supplier (other than eBay) who can supply me with a seal kit for the injector pump on my DSE?
I need it rather quickly as I'm supposed to be driving the family up to Yorkshire next weekend for the father-in-laws 60th birthday party.
Cheers,
Smiler.
The diesel lump doesn't produce much until the turbo is spinning (comes in near 2,000rpm) and mine always goes up past 3,000 in normal driving. The BMW 525 TDS I had in the past with the same engine showed the engine to be a good performer (once chipped) that actually liked to rev and drove like a petrol.
With the added weight this time it tended to kick down two gears when it felt an incline raising the revs up towards 5,000!
Just a little spot of news.
We have just returned from a camping trip to sunny (ha!) Weymouth. The loaded up DSE pulled the loaded up trailer tent without complaint, but it did like to kick down quite a lot. I think if we end up doing this more often and upgrading (?) to a caraph, crapa, cara.. oh sod it, if I become a caravan wanker - there, I've said it, then I might have to review the choice of engine.
That might explain a thing or two...
Ah, no mention of LPG, I'm out...
Erm, nope. It's a result of my smart(arse) phone not being so smart and auto-correcting for me...
Hmmm, same colour as my DSE. And Izvestia got four new air bags on mine that I could swap across...
Slow and steady wins the, erm.... no. That can't be right.

You really are complete then :)
oh, that's odd, I was always told I wasn't quite all there...
Isn't the battery retaining bracket the metal strap that sit underneath the cover? (which is very much fitted)
Only the front one. The quick release dzus fasteners are both there.
After being told that both the battery cover and sunroof key are rarely seen together look what I found in that breaker:
The battery cover was hiding in the passenger footwell under the dismembered glovebox and the sunroof key in the rear foot well beneath the folded seats. If it wasn't for Orangebean showing me his sunroof key I would have overlooked it.
Nice work! :)
Stop it! It's not fair! I already have too much on as it is.
Whichever colour Marty odered. It is a very close match to the later pillar trims though (being a 96 model mine originally had the creamier flocked trims that look awfull once they've aged and had years of being rubbed by seat belts etc...).
My pitifully small collection of photos. I just never seem to remember to take photos whilst working.
Regards,
Smiler.
oops, your right Orangebean you did. Sorry.
I will look at soldering mine but need a back-up plan in case I find more damage than expected in there as this is my only transport at present.
I have heard that there are two different under-bonnet fuse boxes for the DSE. Is this correct? If so, is it correct that they are not interchangeable? Does anyone know what year the change too place? (assuming it is age related)
Cheers,
Smiler.
