That makes very good sense....and helps me restore love and sanity !
Yes I do have a lead but could not get it to read last time I will have to have another go at it I think, he also confirmed that the system was old and he had to track down the software for the older version which I now have note of.
The dual fuel would make sense though.
I will have a look in the morning, on top of that the kids stood on my laptop and the new keyboard is here (as it stopped working after that) and I have to strip it completely to fit keyboard (dell vostro nightmare) and the other the battery is dead but I am sure that I will win, its nice that I am getting closer now though to finding the fault and your reply is reassuring thank you you have made me feel so much better.

Hi everyone and sorry for my absence in late....apart from being busy I then forgot my password when I went to log in !

Anyway and update, found someone to look at the P38 gas in Southampton....Polish guy spent 4 hours on her and charged me £50 which I though fair, very helpfull and seemed what he explained to be sound advice.

Anyway, he listened to what I told him I had found and then went to work, at the end he had sqapped the rails round and still NO.1 cylinder was running rich with high trims like -250 maxed out, again back on petrol perfect, swapped again and again still the same so not an injector....shame, anyway because of this we came to the conclusion of a burnt valve, maybe on LPG its picking it up more what would you say ? what he has done is switch No.1 off of LPG so it runs on petrol and the others run on Gas, the trims on idle are perfect and she has bags of power and runs smooth now maybe a little bit less smooth on gas.
Would this be the right direction ? I guess if that is the case of a burnt valve then if it did not have LPG fitted then we would never have known as on petrol she is spot on.

Elpigaz on BME still no joy and he was honest enough to tell me that he could help with P38 stag but not Elpigaz.

This may be a long shot mate but check the wiring from the underseat base through the passenger side kick plate / sill gaurd, i had lots of issues with my old p38 with suspension and thats why the previous owner sold it as he could not get it sorted anywhere, I did valve block drivers pipes pump etc and it still played up so I looked further (3 months of investigations) I were new to p38 so had fresh eyes to learn with and I set about wiring issues and found that because the footwell gets damp from peoples feet and the wiring under there that there were a number of wires corroded inside the plastic, I rewired them all ( some around 1 foots worth) and all was fine ever after and all worked good.
Worth a look.

If he hasn't heard of Elpigaz, find another LPG engineer. They are one of the oldest established Polish manufacturers, not as well known as the Italian makes, but still pretty well known. Having the reducers mounted low down is a good idea as it reduces the chances of air locks but the X5 have a pretty complicated coolant pipe layout so it might be plumbed in at the wrong place.

What injectors are fitted to the P38? If you suspect one is leaking, it might be simpler to just replace them. You can check for a leaking injector by pulling a hose after the engine has been switched off. There should be pressure stored between the reducer and the injectors so you'll hear the pressure escape. If there's no pressure, then there's a leak.

This makes 100% sence I will try this monday,

Hi orangebean.....sorry did not see your post im using my phone, X5 is the one that seems to over fuel at times mainly at idle and as it idles at 550rpm if you nudge the throtle it rises to 1000rpm and them let it off it stalls, the p38 is the one that runs rich on gas on one bank, sorry mate missed the post.

To be honest I have not looked I am away until monday I will look and post monday morning on here, as regards the BMW yes complication is in the build the layout is just crazy and it seems to be on the left hand side where the air box is where as the aux heater bypass valve sits up on the right which supplys the heater matrix so would have thpught that would have been a good place to feed the vape from being a direct hot feed from the head, she has always had issues when cold just now when she is warm she seems to try and stall and gas stalled 3 times in the last 2 weeks which is a pain auto power steering and at low speeds or a bend with traffic begind you ! It also throws a code up now and then on multiple fuel trims which only happens on gas so I would suspect that this is due to an irrrgular gas feed ?
Just love to sort both out as they are both smooth engines and run sweet all electric components tip top condition and new and bugs me when it seems something so simple !!!
X5 never missed a beat on the run with loads of power and cost £20 to get from Coventry back to Portsmouth so on gas when running does seem to be about right.
I must say that both myself and the missus agree on this, BMW quick handles to well for a 4x4 however tje best driving car here is the P38 without doubt, sloother ride and loads more vision and the main thing being the steering which is so much better on the P38.

That thought did cross my mind its down lower than the air box is ! Nice to be neat and hide things a !
I could understand it being that, silly thing is I rang a guy down in Farham yesterday morning an LPG installer and mentioned the 2 cars to him and he said he would ring his suppliers and call me back, that was 8.50 am yesterday still waiting lol he said he had not heard of Elpigaz before.
Engine is so sweet and it does run well on gas just these couple of issues.
Looks like im gonna have to get another ecu for the old p38 as the stag one will not read at all and is running so rich on 1 bank its -250 and misses but only on gas so suspect an injector on it, it just seems so hard to get an LPG service engineer to look at a LPG car they all seem busy !

Hi guys.....just an update and another issue that may be of interest.....onvestigate together!!!
Since I had her started (see post BCEM Again !) She has been in regular use on petrol still a rich miss on gas and only 1 flat battery due to the 5 year old leaving the reading lights on and car sat for 3 days ! However asked for keycode and it took it first time !!!! Amazing!!!
Anyway I still have the issue of rich on 1 bank and a miss due to this (stag 300-8) and ecu wont read on the 4.6 thor so will have to sort her however being a bit of a defector here.... I have a BMW X5 E53 4.4 ....let me off please as range rover used it and its a V8 ! Now the thing here is it may help us all ( I hope) she is on gas, all codes read amd is fine fsh runs superb no knocks ( right oil) 167k smooth and quick and on gas....makes the 4.6 look ecconomical (12. 7 round town on a good day and yes I have tried different MAF's)
Now I have had her since May this year, she has a sysrem called Elpigaz fitted, filsa ? System ? Anyone heard of this ? I plan on having them both sorted together and have a couple of issues with the BMW.
Checked for leaks and sorted them all however on cold (10 minuite) she will not have any of it smells of gas and lumps, when warm runs perfect 85% of the time rest of time she comes down to 500 then gos to stall them revs 800 rpm ( when slowing at junctions)
Any ideas ?

Lol at least it held for Ace cafe Brighton run, Brightonia this weekend, and the bike has given me as many hadaches as the RR has in the past lol, yesterday I waved goodbye to my aero..............hope I done the right thing lol

and even if it was tested and found to be fine, how much longer is it going to last? Until I changed the switches in my drivers latch, I would get the dancing locks trick but only in hot weather so during the winter it didn't do it. Something else you are never going to find just by sticking a meter on the leads and checking the switches.

Correct, and strange mine does the bouncing locks bit in the heat as well, fine since July I can get the dog out the boot again now !

That is something like I have had before, I had a leak in my ZZR rad a few months back, mostly all replacments are (unless you pay more than the bikes worth) made in China these days and cost about £99 shipped but the catch is 2/3/4 ? weeks wait, now some guys on evil bay are selling these rads with 5 days shipping form the UK for £150, 50% mark up same rad, I looked into getting a "good" second hand one to help me through and it was astounding to find worse rads for sale than mine was ! fins bent and missing, mounts rusted off............the list went on, the leak was rigt at the bottom left corner where the fairing had rubbed it so I drained and used chemical metal left to dry for 24 hours then re-filled let it run shut off run again bled it and guess what.....it worked ! well it lasted me still sealed for the 3 weeks it took to get a new one anyway so I won in the end, I know its not RR stuff but it may help to carry some in the tool box, I have a US pro tool box bought brand new 3 shelf and opening lid model ball bearing draws very nice fits all the cars and always have instant "get ya home" gasket and chemical metal in the top, it worked for the bike under alot of pressure and at high RPM (10,500) and it was still sealed when I disposed of it when fitting the new one.
Moto here is...........there is some Cr*p around !

Sound I would rather do that than risk it as not all but some people are happy to sell anything, plus if its a breaker and it dont show up all the time I could be fitting worse than I have.

I am so glad that you guys are here ! I am also looking at changing my drivers door latch as at time the boot refuses to open, I have been told that there are only 2 types is this true and that they can both be adapted ?
PS wanted to wait and reply this morning to see............she started again !

Morning guys.
I returned home and connected her up and left her for 40 minutes to be safe, still no response from remote key and key code lockout displayed.
I tried to enter the EKA code agin ( tried before got nowhere and its the right code ) and she superlocked herself ! a word begining with S sounding like brick came strait out my mouth ! I opened the driver door and found that all others were superlocked !!! NO ! getting worse in my mind, I again tried the EKA and no tried again and again and in the end it unlocked......................now before I got to excited I placed the key in ignition and slowly turned it and she fired up ! (never done that before ! just joking ) anyway she has been running and I think running better on gas now than before as she seems to have blown some of the cat out of both rear boxes after I gave her a few revs (she has been running rich on LPG on 1 bank like -250 rich so run on petrol for ages stag system ecu I cant read ) on prvious posts you will see that I asked about center box delete which was done and when we opened up the cats one was empty so guess it was stuck in rear boxes and making it push harder thus running richer on gas ??? am I on the right tract here ?
Anyway today she is running .........last week we had her out and the starter motor failed at one stop on our day so that is next (done it once)
I really have done everything to her out of love, she is our family tow car so has to be safe and strong so I have spent loads on it, all new dunlop bags, discs, pads, air conditioning was done and runs ice cold, new coild, TPS (one from GSF failed after 4 weeks !) gearbox, transfer box, comprssor and valve block serviced along with loads loads more and I follow everyones advice on here as it is the best forum for any car that I have come accross.
I want to thank anyone on here that has looked at this and my other posts and everyone that has replied to help I am greatly in appriciation guys, and sloth, thanks mate for saying you would come down and help if needed as in a great way it gave me reasurance that I were going to be ok........sound right ?

Now, is there anyway that I can de activate the keycode EKA thing for future ? or is that wishfull thinking !

Anyone ever gets stuck down my way needs a tow a lift or anything just ask me I am always happy to help you all.

Sloth wrote:

Superlocking is just a waste of time, and services little purpose other than to frustrate the owner when it inevitably does lock you out of one or more doors...

I activate 'superlocking' everytime I lock up, but as OB has done, I've now neutered the superlocking in every door. Prior to doing so I've already had one door try to shut me out - thankfully locking/unlocking several times released it, and out came the wire cutters. I just want the volumetric sensors working, like they should do by default. But that's another one of LR's great moments of wisdom.

If you're not able to get the EKA entered in the morning, let me know and I'll see if I can pop down in the evening.

Thank you mate I will do and as soon as I know I will post, such a nice car and everything has been done to her I would be very reluctant to part with her and still the best 4x4 for off road pull, use to take my last one up the plains and one say a disco 4 was showimg off in the mud, army trained off road driver as well and my p38 followed him everywhere much to his suprise !

I am home tomorrow morning so will attempt to do eka code again, I yhink the biggest part of the car in my head is everything that I have done and she still locks me out, just comes up on dash "key code lock out" and again inthe back of .y mind she went flat in a week, rf disconected bew battery new fuse box red light on gear stick gos out as it should after 2 to 3 minutes, she is charged at the minute so i have a chance.
I love this car i seriously do but I am so clpse to having her all good, she looks and drives like new because of the work I have done in the last year.
If I keep her I want nanocom, I also need a drivers door latch if anyone has one for sale or even nonocom ?
If anyone can help me out I am happy to pay them for there time and would be good to meet some of you.
If I habe her next year I will be at summer camp or is there one before ?

Sloth wrote:

I'm over Romsey way - I can pop down if you can cover the fuel. We can enter the EKA via my nanocom and test your door latch switches, though one or more is probably at fault. Marty is the man to speak to about a replacement - but we can get it going in the meantime.

I'm probably busy all of tomorrow and Tuesday evening, but any other weekday I'm usually free in the evenings or next weekend any time.
Mate covering your fuel would be a pleasure if you were able to come down and help me, I am seriously at my wits end, I have never had any car like it lol and I know that I am so close to the " sorted" car because I have done everything that I could, what about Monday evening? Fuel money and whatever mate you say what it costs and money is here.

If anyone can help i am happy to pay fuel/time etc, always here to help anyone if needs be in any way that I can.
If anyone needs my mobile message me, seems a shame after all the time and money I have put into this one to let her go now.

PO1 5AT mate are you near me ? I love this car just at my wits end !

So monday im home, try leave it 30 minutes and code again ? Or new door switch cause i cant afford nonocom, spent so much on this car and it wont go anywhere ! Use to love it not so sure anymore its just so unreliable.
