Will I have to relinquish my membership on here if I go the 322 route?

Aye, bugger off, fullfatrr is that way ---->

Of course not :-D

They're the same as the ones used on Citroen XMs. When they failed on the XM it wasn't because the pots wore out but because the commutators wore down and made them draw too high a current.

Wonder if he's confusing the height corrector linkages with a brake proportioning valve linkage?

That phrase got me banned from the other site, so I figured it would work as a pretty good warding sign to keep the humourless out (and they'd probably spell it "humorless", too).

Mine is plumbed in series, with the heater pipe split at "21" in the diagram there (the diagram looks like it's for a Thor but the heater bits make no real difference). It was okay in cold weather before I changed it - it was parallel when I got it - but could get a bit arsey on very cold damp mornings.

Being singlepoint mine doesn't have temperature switchover and it's programmed to just start on gas. By the time I've driven to the end of the farm track on all but the coldest mornings it's taken the chill off and I just drive gently for the first half a mile or so.

There are the two breathers, the fuel tank evap connection and the pipe running off to the fuel regulator. If any of those are leaking it'll throw your idle off.

Have you blocked off all four vacuum taps on the manifold?

I'm not sure you can split a thread; I'll need to look into it. Maybe we should set up a new section on stuff like insurance, breakdown cover etc

If it's GEMS then it won't idle at all with a faulty or unplugged MAF, but will kind of run above about 1200rpm.

This is probably worth discussing in its own thread...

I drove from my house to my mate's dad's workshop with the "new" engine for my P38 in the back of my work van. Arrogant as it might sound, I thought they were a shower of twats and didn't really mind that it chewed up the plastic loadbed protector quite a bit.

Aye, if it's 60 grams/sec then it's probably underfuelling a bit. You could try switching to hydrazine ;-)

Started the engine after resetting the adaptions and now it wont idle.

That sounds like a borked MAF sensor, if it's a GEMS.

Got that info straight from the horses mouth- well Mark Adams actually. I figure that if there's anyone who knows the intricacies of the GEMS ECU as well if not better than the guys that designed it, it's him!

Damn straight. Wouldn't it be good if we could get Mark Adams to join here?

The GEMS will not adapt the fuelling if there is 1/4 tank or less.

I don't think I've ever had more than a quarter tank in mine, and it seems to adapt the fuelling just fine...

The studs are definitely M10 of some sort. When I managed to get what was left of mine off I replaced them with stainless nuts, with a hefty glob of copper grease.

I set them all to 20, how's that for you? It's an admin-adjustable thing but I agree it could really do with being a per-user setting - I'll suggest that to the devs :-)

Has it made the front end less wobbly?

Incidentally, I could do with some photos for the banner bit at the top. I'm going to have a dig through some of the posts and see if there are any photos I can nick a 168-pixel-high slice from, to use in the banner - well, if no-one minds. Obviously any identifying marks will be cropped out, and if you're not keen let me know and I'll leave your pics alone :-)

I've updated the forum software, and thanks to some very generous donations we now have the domain name that you see right up there in your address bar.

Old links and bookmarks to https://rrpub.gjcp.net will work exactly as they did before but will redirect to the new name. You don't have to do anything.

Report bugs by PM to me, or by email to gordonjcp@gmail.com if you can't log in.
