So yesterday I decided to change all the front ball joints and the front diff ( is that a heavy sob, or am I getting old) started on the lhs, took me 3.5 hours to get old out, new in, rhs, took me 40 minutes to do the same, once you've Sussed them out there not too bad. So nice to not hear the diff whine, and no Clunk when I turn the steering,, paying the price today with arthritis, lol, I won't let it beat me,,,

I was thinking of coming up for the Saturday, but as I've got nothing better to do I'll come back up on the Sunday too - bit further than I remember but that's no biggy, might be able to scrape both days in one tank of LPG :) Depending on the amount of bits I bring up it might make it a bit easier anyway! Always worried about putting holes in the leather. I do have a working drivers side blower if you've not got one Marty.

My breaker will be going the week after (sans engine, will have two if you still want one at some point Marty) - I have picked it pretty clean of bits I'm keeping as spares (or already used...), but if there is any odd bits that anyone wants that I don't already know about, let me know. I do have a set of clear rear lights and indicators from it going cheap. Relatively new GEMS radiator - I think it is Britpart, probably did 1500-2000 miles on the car before I gave up with it. If anyone wants it, I'll bring it, of no use to me now! I have a single exhaust rear brake hose from the chassis to the axle, unused, I won't need that either.

EAS blocks sound good! Do you want me to get ATF or was that factored in your 10L? I can get filter etc. If there is time, it would be handy to change my rocker cover gaskets, but I have the week after that weekend off so it can wait.

I have a 35 litre Waeco fridge/freezer that lives in the back of my RR and another little 14 litre box I can bung in, so I can bring a fair bit of food with me too.

Sloth what are the back boxes like on the one your breaking, mine are getting tired,, and one of the rubbers have snapped along with the metal mount from the box,, this supposedly looked after range has cost me a small fortune !

Thanks OB, just wanted to check that is at least half decent before throwing more money at it,, gonna confirm today that damper is my problem, couldn't move yesterday after changing the ball joints etc, arthritis kicked me up the back side, joys of getting old, lol

Afraid I'm gonna have to give tomorrow a miss, lpg has decided to play silly buggers , switches on (tries to stall) runs for about 30 seconds then alarm goes off and back to petrol... Bit peeved as worked hard last weekend on the car to know was safe,, :(
Hopefully there be another meet up soon so I can meet you guys

03 July 2016 - 05:47

A big thanks to Richard, I'm back running on lpg, gotta give the car a serious wash today, but was fun playing in the mud,,frightened the crap outta some kids on quads when I came screaming round the corner, lmao

You can pay from a grand upwards, so many different systems, it's a shop around conversion to get the best price for what you want

01 July 2016 - 18:04

Defo got gas, shoved 60 litres in the other day ,, going out to check hoses now, if you hear a bang ! It's me, lol.. Might give the petrol a fill up, if can get the gas sorted will cost me nothing to get home,, will post how I get on

01 July 2016 - 18:47

Gonna drive up on petrol, if we can sort it's a result, if not nothing lost, will bring lead and disc I have in case it's needed, tools are in the boot, so can help others where needed. Lpg is not the best apparently, landi renzo multipoint system,, we be there between 9 & 10 I would of thought,, see you all tomorrow,,

OK, Question for someone who's coming tomorrow....

Anyone have a REALLY BIG spanner? I'm about to go an have a look at my steering box, but the replacement one doesn't have the arm on it, so will need to swap that over from my one... which means a BIG spanner/pipe wrench to undo the old nut.

I've got a huge adjustable spanner, will make sure it's in the car

07 July 2016 - 05:36

My other half did exactly the same, she parked up at work and left the shift in between reverse and park, I wasn't happy after walking a mile at 4am to find that was the problem,, Gotta just smile and grit your teeth,, 😁

17 July 2016 - 12:31

No vibrations, just an annoying clunk when turning the steering, check your front props uj's, I had a vibration and noise when I first got this one, everyone was saying it's coming from the wheels, wasn't till my prop sheared the UJ that I found it, lol, if you only get clicking turning one way, sure sign of UJ

07 July 2016 - 15:49

Gonna have to fill mine and see what mileage I get, cars comp is saying average 18.3 at the mo, despite playing cat and mouse all the way back with a sport and a 405,,

22 July 2016 - 05:48

Mine are each side of the manifold, I know Marty repositioned his, I would personally leave where you can get to the connectors in case of fault finding. One of my injectors is lazy on switch over, takes 10 seconds till its on all 8.. Once fitted you will notice the drop in your fuel bill for sure,,

14 July 2016 - 04:37

Hi guys, hope your all well, I'm continuing my fight to find the clunk I have when turning the steering,, island4x4 seem to list a shitpart replacement, was wondering if anyone has used one yet. I'm not happy using anything with that brand name. It's the last thing on the front to change, everything else has been swapped, never want to do another set of bearings, they were fun, didn't wanna come out,, a lot of heat and 30 ton press persuaded them, lol,, your opinions would be appreciated..

14 July 2016 - 05:50

Cheers OB, that's a weight of my mind, really didn't want the shitpart ones, will be on the phone as those guys open, thanks again

15 July 2016 - 02:04

Tell me about it, when I saw the price they wanted I nearly fell over,, they seem to like to punish us for having a p38 grrr, the bearings cost nearly double what a complete hub costs for a RRS. Think ive only got brakes pipes left and that's the underside done, unless I pull the body and send chassis off for powder coating,,

15 July 2016 - 16:23

The clunk I have is really weird, should of had a look at summer camp, but it was a wee bit muddy underneath, lol, I can't pinpoint which side, it's only when turning the steering, stationary or moving.. I've changed track rod bar, drag link, all ball joints, poly bushed everything, replaced steering box, flexi coupling upto steering column, front bearings, I'm crossing my fingers that it is a cv joint, if not I'm at a loss

16 July 2016 - 01:12

gordonjcp wrote:

Have you tried taking the drag link and track rod off, and seeing if you can move each part by hand to see what the clunk is?
Will find out today, it's going up on blocks, and not coming off till I find the clunk,

Well I changed both cv joints and took for a spin , looks like I've solved the problem at last, did find that the stabiliser bush ( think it's called panhard, correct me if I'm wrong ) is on the way out, the poly bushes supplied with the car were yellow ( shitpart) out done themselves , 6 months and well on the way to being replaced,,, my fault, should of checked before I fitted,, will replace with originals and get a good few years

07 August 2016 - 03:31

I've not used, so don't know about sequence changing, but sounds a bit odd too be honest, as for torque I would of though 70-80 max, I had a read up and it's said stretch bolts are about 85 torque after the 2 x 90 and once settled,, wish someone told mine that, lol

22 July 2016 - 12:15

Correct me if I'm wrong, 1 downside I see is once pipes are clamped your knackered if you wanna remove the bunch of bananas,, mine are piped into the bananas on top
