Replaced the brake accumulator, which was surprisingly tightly screwed on. Had to use an oil filter strap to loosen it.
Changed the brake fluid and then followed the Rave bleeding procedure. The job took most of the day.
I couldn't get the front wheels off. Took over an hour to loosen them. You can't easily get at the front brake bleed nipples unless you take the wheels off. I had them powder coated a few months back which had obviously made them a tight fit on the central spiggot.

Bought some terrafirma Shockers..

Old ones are ruined..

I was tempted by Boge but considering i can't get a set for the back sort of negates that idea.

  • My D2 has TF and they're quite good..

I loosened off the old ones, to see if they'd move..

Managed to compress them with 2 fingers, just pushing lightly on the bottom, so defo ruined..

Checked axle oil levels.All OK.
Took wiper arms off and resprayed them black. Look good now.
Used T cut on the windscreen side trims, which I left in place, and sprayed them with clear laquer. It did not like the acrylic laquer I used.
5 or 6 coats later it looked a mess. Blistering in places. I flattened it with 1200 paper and resprayed it but this time with Plasticote. Still not right. I will have to take the side trims off and respray them black.

Yesterday at work I had taken the RR in to pick some things up... and as its quiet - I had another look around for this odd noise. Still none-the-wiser sadly. Found some cooler lines that were touching in places, so put some hose around those points in the vague hope it might be it. But alas, not that easy.

I think it might be time to start tearing into it - starting with the RH bank exhaust header. While I'm at it, I might pull the whole inlet off and reseal the valley, again. See if I can stem the oil that is making its way down onto the starter motor - might now also be from the rocker cover on that side, but it wasn't to start with.

Sanded and resprayed one of the windscreen side trims. Ordered some stainless self tappers. I normally replace all non critical bolts and screws with stainless.
Door rubber needs sticking back. It was stuck on with double sided tape. I might just use gorilla glue this time.

Gorilla Glue expands when it dries, I use Evo Stick contact adhesive.

Fitted 2 reconditioned, second hand front calipers today. That was the easiest one I've ever done, even with corroded banjo bolts. It helps having correct tools lol.

Tomorrow I will fully bleed the booster unit and do the calipers again in the correct sequence.

Both old calipers were holding the pads on the discs causing them to overheat.

Finished spraying the windscreen side trims and refitted them. Door rubbers glued back with Evo Stick contact adhesive.

Dismantled roof rail cross bars and sanded and sprayed the aluminium extrusion parts. Plastic bits went in the dishwasher.

A rainy day today so I took the grill off and repainted it with Forever Black in the garage.
Also repaired a few cracks in the plastic with a soldering iron and some ABS filament.

Looks like it has minimal black death, certainly cleaner than mine when i did the valley gasket..

During this dreaded period I am busier than ever, but managed to find two minutes to strip the door card to get access to the latch, to replace it and try to solve the usual fob sync issue, I have Marty waiting for an answer .... hope to get it done soon.
In the process I stumbled across two plugs that appear to be free and unused, but that I cannot figure out for what they are. Any ideas? They look original and very unused ... This is driver's door - that would be "left" for LHD :-)
