Did they all arrive under their own steam, George?
We went down to Sicily in September on a 'Thelma and Louise ' road trip. Using 90% national roads i averaged 31.9. Mind you, we took 10 days to get there! We enjoyed ourselves so much, we have come down again!! Got here last Friday and we're here for Xmas and then up to Bergamo for New Year to visit the sister in law. This time we used motorways the whole way. I was disappointed to only get 26.8 this time. A possibility is doing an average 75-80 most of the way.
There's nothing there ................. it must be a split radiator :O)
I use lockers as I have put the spec tyres on (Pirelli Scorpion Zeros) and with the Stormer wheels, it would cost me around £900 a corner to replace!
If you go the used/recon route, try asking Emmotts of Colne. They're reasonably priced and can do next day.
Of course, there is the small matter of who will be fitting these things if required? I certainly won't be!! I'm officially disabled.
It's the size that is being a problem, Gilbert. My wheels are 275/40/20
Desperate moments!! Before I take out a second mortgage and purchase a set for a one time use, does anyone have set that will fit 20" wheels laying around? I really don't want to buy a set that I will only 'use' once. I'm going back to Italy for Xmas and need to carry them down in the Alps.
I followed the original thread over on the 'other side' and complimented JMC on his dedication to the Linley. As it now seems to be nearing completion, I can't wait to see the finished product. Fair play to you, JMC.
I won't be available as we are off to Sicily on the 1st Sept. Effing quacks have banned me from flying so the only way to get a holiday is to drive now. We are being adventurous and taking our time meandering across Europe. Her sister lives in Bergamo so we'll be paying a visit there. I expect to be away about six weeks.

By the way, travelling the roads across Spain (and France in parts) is a delight - very little traffic except by the places like Malaga and Marbella. In fact on the drive down from UK via Madrid (which you bypass by motorway) it is quite an occasion to see another car in your mirror or ahead - for mile after mile there is no other traffic to see - driving as it used to be !
I regularly used to drive down to Seville, Jerez, Estepona etc. Was a pleasure that was to be enjoyed and I loved driving through the middle of Madrid using the motorway. The ring road seemed to take forever.

Where in Spain? Just so I can indulge in Google Maps fantasy roadtrip :)
It's down the bottom ........... east of Malaga near a place called Torrox.
I've owned a number of 38s, a 322 which although it looked ok was the worst money drain I've ever owned. I lost a lot of money when I got rid. When I got rid of the 322, I got another 38 which I still regret selling. Gilbert sold it for me and did some work on it and as far as I know, the new owner is thrilled with it. I bought a 2008 RRS TDV8 which is a lovely car but doesn't have the ride quality of that 38. I had a choice at the time .............. spend £15k on the RRS or spend possibly £5k on the 38. When I got it MOT'd last, the garage owner told me I would be mad to sell it as the engine sounded superb. As time wears on, I know I made the wrong choice. My last 38 was the muttz nuttz.
Sad sad news . never met him but his posts were always entertaining. RIP
Are you doing a summer camp this year, Marty?
My last boss refused to put alloys on any of our new trucks for a similar reason, Rutland. He always said you never got a true mating between the wheel and hub and that the wheels came loose over time. Obviously a truck wheel is lethal when coming off.

Are the limited editions worth a lot of money?
If you wanted a Linley, JMC's would be worth a small fortune .................... you could more than likely get a new one cheaper.

H&H is Holland and Holland who make shotguns. A very limited edition P38 that was produced using a one off colour paint and interior using the same walnut as they use to make their shotgun stocks.
and as I recall, JMCLuimni has the ONLY one left in the States and has renovated it from the bottom up. I remember him starting a thread on the dark side about the motor. It was in an absolute mess and I mean mess. I sat in awe at the work he was doing.
Silly question .................. have you thought about taking it back to where you had the tyres changed and asking them to take it off seeing as they put it on?
All I know about phone tracking is that they do!!!. I'm going back over 20 years but my at the time wife was getting 'dirty' phone calls. About 20-30 an hour! It came to a head one Saturday night when we had been out all evening and not had one call. We had just got into bed when the fukking phone rang. Now this spooked me big time. Was the fukker watching us? I immediately phoned her provider (can't remember who it was) and explained she worked in a sensitive position at Heathrow. A female detective was at the door the next day (Sunday!). She explained EVERY call and text made in this country was recorded! As most of the calls were made when my wife was at work, the DC asked my wife to note every call made the next time she was in work and write down the time and who it was from for just one hour. She had work on the Sunday afternoon and so did this. She noted 40 calls and handed this to the DC (who was based at Heathrow herself) and Monday afternoon they arrested a co-worker. Admittedly the police had had to go to court to get the permission but it took them less than a day to 'find' the fukker. Only downside of this was they wouldn't reveal anything about the guy to me apart from the fact I knew him.
