I am no expert with P38's I am learning, but how old is your battery. It might start the car and take charge but I have heard of wierd electrical gremlins being fixed by installation of a new battery.

Excellent I found issues using and viewing Imgur loaded images, its down to Vodafone broadband filters, and nothing to do with the router. Its at their end!

I think a lot of people put wraps on high end cars to protect the original paint underneath. When you consider that a single panel on a Lambo to respray probably runs into the thousands, then a couple of grand on a wrap makes a lot of sense. Also who buys a matt black car, they are a nightmare to keep clean.

Looks like there are worse examples with other marques too: https://blog.costumecraze.com/2009/12/the-batmobile-limousine

However your link someone has put in some real effort rather than driven through Halfrauds at speed collecting bits on the way. I admire people who have the time to make something that looks good and is safe.

I know its not a P38 but this has to be the worst L322 I have ever seen!

All front diffs are 2 pin.
4pin on rear on later models with 4wheel tc.

Partly incorrect, only the 4.6 V8 Petrol had the 4pin Diff on the rear, the 4.0 and 2.5 Diesel had 2 pin on the rear diff.

I have changed both Diff on my P38 4.6 V8 and yes rear one was 4 pin but I put a 2 pin in for the time to use the car.

Apparently Jeremy Clarkson owns a 2002 Vogue SE in Black.

A friend of mine saw it at a dealer down south wearing a set of Hurricane wheels and went in to ask if they'd pass his details onto the owner as he started making a register of late VSE's at one point. He was told they'd pass them on but the owner wouldn't call. When he asked why, the service manager told him it was Clarkson's car.

David.

Do you mean this one...

Sorry to highjack.

I have not heard much about Bearmach on here. Are they any good. About 20 miles from home so would be handy.

What the hell have they done to that!! £900 is a bit optimistic!

I stopped using the tunnel when they force you to take the next train. I have usually driven 5 hours solid and would like a break. The ferry allows me to stretch my legs have some food and feel better at the other end. The tunnel is like being on the m25 for another 30 mins.

They have also outpriced themselves.

Is that a recent rule? I was thinking of booking it again so had best change my of vehicle for the trip it if it.

You need to run a wee self-test on your sarcasmometer ;-)

I think you need to declare it on your booking so they ensure you are on an open vented deck. Also think they are banned on Le Tunnel.

OK, replaced the rear discs and pads as the right rear pads had disintegrated. Thats completed, Island 4x4 now use DPD instead of InterLink by the way. Parts arrived at 0900 this morning which was nice.

Took the car out and vibration comes along at 45mph to 55mph, then from 60mph there is no vibration.

Turned it round on a junction where I can do full circle and I could hear the rear inside (drivers) side tyre scrubbing for grip. I am now sure the Viscous Coupling has a problem. Will keep your all posted.

I'm thinking of going under it tomorrow or Saturday and removing the front prop and running the car in rear wheel drive only for a few weeks. That should in theory bypass the problem I am led to believe. When i have done this I will give it a try but I don't have a Torque Tool.

Viscous couplings don't usually just fail though, they need some abuse to kill them. They also cause the car to hop around when manoeuvring on full lock at low speeds as the front wheels are scrabbling for grip. So even someone not used to a P38 would know something isn't right.

A little wager? Bottle of warm ale or something?
Diff failed, now possibly prop, together with:
"...when going along it pulls to either side like its stuck in the tram tracks on the roads the trucks leave in the road..."

OK so who wants to know..

November - £1550, Purchase Price
November - £400 - New Front Diff, Blew up on M25, on way home from collection
December - £600 - Replaced Front Diff again, UJ's in pursuit of problem turned out to be Rear Diff, Cost Includes Hire Car
January - £210 - 4 New wheels and Tyres, Fixed handling issue
January - £30 - Tracking and Alignment
January - ???? - Viscous Coupling causing vibration at high speed and wheels to rotate and lock at low speeds.

Wheels all fitted and aligned, I have edited my first post as there were incorrect items linked. Also linked two photos.

The car handles better, got rid of the tram lining effect and feels more sporty. Ride is a little harder but its worth the odd bump for the handling upgrade.

Yes it’s only the 90ah I was going to order the hankook one tomorrow as I have to wait in all day on Thursday anyway. But have to drive to a client site in Oxford and then Buckingham tomorrow to collect the wheels. Don’t want to set of with a duff battery. 90ah 700 cold crack. £107. Not many had the terminals the right way around. Makes you wonder why they haven’t come up with a system that allows you to swap them around.

Well popped out and had passive immobilisation turned off, and the battery finally gave in. Trip to halfrauds

Halfrauds: Sir you need this one for your car..
Me : No I want the biggest that will fit in the tray.
Halfrauds : No sir you must use this one, it could damage the electrics in your car if you use the wrong one.
Me : Well I am buying this one.
Halfrauds : That sir will be £15 to fit it!!!
Me : I will buy a 13mm and 10mm spanner for £9 then

Off he went.

10 minutes later brought back the 10mm and 13mm spanners for a refund.

Only problem now is brake pad was damaged due to last fault so next on the list is a full set of pads and discs i think. There will not be much left original soon.

Anyway anyone have any idea on the correct spigots and nuts as per my first post?

Thanks.

Well its snowing here! We see the coldest weather from this point of the year usually. Plus I fully expect to have worn these out by April anyway.

Good point on the metal spigot rings.

OK, so my P38 has had the tracking out for some time. including before I got it, hence the front right tyre is bald on the inside. Tyres at £100 each got me thinking and I have landed a set of 19" Range Rover Sport 2013 wheels with new Dunlop Winter tyres for a whopping £165! I doesn't come with the spigots or nuts.

I presume that these would be right from eBay...

NOT THE ORIGINAL LINK

or these (BritPart probably no better)

NOT THE ORIGINAL LINK

Edit : Indeed these are the correct size however I went for metal ones instead. You Need 72.6 -70.1 Spigot Rings.

However I am not sure on nuts, I believe the openings for the nuts on the wheels on a RRS are smaller then the P38 so I need a full set of new nuts. The only thing I have found is this..

NOT THE ORIGINAL LINK.

Edit : As the inside edge of the wheel nut opening was flat I needed flat as opposed to chamfered edge nuts. These ones did the job, basically 22mm L322 nuts...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-RANGE-ROVER-L322-ALLOY-WHEEL-NUT-SET-OF-20-RRD500510-LR068126/272573796683?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Is there anyone that can advise what I need. Once I have the wheels on I will get the tracking done and the car looked over.

But again not sure if the nuts will be right.

Photo of old and new,

It has solved the wondering problem and handles far better the ride is a little harder but not bad.

Finished...

Phoned and checked all items with Rimmer Bros and paid for before 1pm shipping.

Hopefully all sorted.
