Hi All,

Nanocom is reporting an intermittent fault on the ECU cooling fan. I guess it used to be turning most of the time in Dubai.

I haven't looked in RAVE yet, but has anyone changed or repaired one?

Thanks to another member here, I fitted a GROM BT3 adaptor to the Alpine head unit today.

Took it slowly and it went really well and I didn't manage to break anything.

The bonus is the sound quality .... I couldn't believe it would sound so good playing mp3 from my Android phone.

I have also downloaded Neuron music player fro Android which claims to access the dac in the phone directly and also do some other nice audio tricks.

Now to fit a tablet in the dash if I can sneak it past the War Department!

The photos are really good, thanks for taking the time.

That's great, Marty.

Is my old DSP amp any good to you?

I don't think it works, but never tried it.

Postage would be around GBP 15 I'm guessing.

Update ... the a/c has been working well but not freezing. Still hissing a bit at the thermo valve location.

Until yesterday .... bang like a tyre blowout. All tyres and air bags fine, but the new hose had popped off the compressor (the smaller pipe of the two).

Back to the garage for the third time... happy days!

Mine used to be ice cold in Dubai where they really know how to do the gassing properly.

Had the condenser replaced by the Dealer here and it has not been the same since ..... hissing sound in the dash and only just cool enough.

Maybe they didn't evacuate and regas fully .... do you ever get tired of telling the experts what to do?

I find that closing the recirculation flaps makes a big difference and during the summer I close them and disconnect the motors so they stay shut.

Nice post, thank you.

Poke up carefully.

The condensate drain pipes are not straight so don't force too much or you might tear them.

Hi All,

I've put one of these on eBay but will happily dispose of it here.

Cheers.

I've looked at a few in car mounts and don't like any of them!

The ones that stick to the windscreen wouldn't be too bad except that the tablet would get too hot (I tried this with a phone and just saved it in time).

I wouldn't mind cutting into the side of the facia and sliding the tablet in ... says he with the shaky hand!

An Android tablet would do everything ..... music, navigation, internet radio, and connect by bluetooth to the existing headunit preserving the steering wheel controls.

Hi All,

I'm toying with the idea of a 7 inch tablet for music and navigation.

I don't think I want to cut the dash up yet, so is there a mounting that will hold it over the cubby hole next to the clock?

Any ideas welcome.

Right, somewhat baffled.

The whooshing sound disappeared with the first hot day ...... only 27 degrees, no the 45 in Dubai.

Seems to be cooling ok, but not ice cold.

Any ideas?

Hi All,

My turn.

The a/c started to fail just as we left Dubai last year, so I knew it had a leak.

Dealer here re-gassed it and subsequently replaced one hose and the heat exchanger in front.

Thankfully not the one in the dashboard.

It seems ok (not really hot here yet), but I can hear are "whooshing" sound behind the dash when the compressor starts.

AND, the electric fans come on after a minute or so of starting the engine ..... never did this before even in 50 degree heat.

What on earth have they done?

Is the 6.5" sub unit the same as the one in the doors?

I got mine from the USA .... 4 Ohm, and fitted them recently. I still have the old Land Rover ones if that's an option.

I think I still have the box for the new ones somewhere if you can't Google them.

Did you get my email about the GROM, btw?

Cheers.

Happy days, glad I'm not the only one who does these things ......

Ha!

I just got a response too!

Let's see.

So, I could have had a 4 pin front after all!

When I spoke to them they asked if I had any more info about the 4 pin fronts.

I don't like it when a specialist tries to get me to give them instructions ...... in other words, I could have ordered a 4 pin for the front but it would have been a rear one and my risk i9f it proved noisy.

Make of that what you will!

I bought new front and rear diffs a year ago from Ashcroft and they supplied 4 pin rear and 2 pin front.

I queried why the front was not 4 pin and they didn't know, and only supplied 2 pin for all P38s.

HTH, probably not!
