I would say a UJ , as it’s only when moving, the radius arm bushes would do it just turning the steering without moving ( or at least mine did )

Merry Christmas to everyone, and a prosperous new year to all.

Bet it didn’t take 10 days though, lol, that’s not a bad mpg .

It’s not just the plastic, by the sounds of it your H&H has been abused, most probably badly maintained by idiots that don’t look how things are fixed, just give it a pull to remove that stubborn part !..
at least it’s getting some attention now 👍

That's the one :)

OK - it's done! Topped up with coolant and I even re-fixed the cruise control into the bargain. For a Special Needs mechanic, I'm chuffed!
The new top hose is on, but I didn't bother with the hose to the thermostat, it looked like hard work/jacking the car up. I re-used the original pipe without disconnecting it from the thermostat. Let's see how long it is before that comes back to bite me....

Just treble check you have put any twist on the pipe as it will find a moving part , lol

It looks like you have been playing with the nano more than I have, lol, I need to sit and play sometime, but with a new puppy keeping me busy there’s not much chance of it happening anytime soon,.

Yes, bank 1 is passenger side ( odd cylinders) if like mine, when you accelerate, it would run like a pig at level throttle. on slow down my tick over could drop really low, even stall, was over fueling and cutting that bank out, plus my mpg went down to 6.2mpg

Yeah, I got a decent sized spanner under it and braced it off the alternator. I gave up when the spanner started bending! From what you say it sounds like the side loading would have jammed it on the dowel. I'll find the dowel and plus-gas it before I try again.
Thanks Chris!

I’ll pop mine off later and send you some pics, gotta have a play as my ABS pressure sensor has died,, woo hoo when you hit the brakes and pedal keeps sinking, lol

I can’t see any reason why with the 4 bolts undone it didn’t lift, there it a locating dowel which it must be stuck on, get a lever under the AC pump and give it a wiggle.

Not had much of a chance to play with the car, but took some pics of before it’s going to headlight alignment checker, I’ve looked at many driving along and the beam looks pretty much the same, including the beam to the side!(https://i.imgur.com/nuyRbfe.jpg)

You can see the difference straight away,, each garage door is 10ft,,

Typical, I’m late coming online, I have a top hose with the plastic tee, brand new, I butchered one of the hoses from it, lol..

A socket on a ratchet, bar over it, if I remember correctly your pulling like your tightening it, ( clockwise ).

Arnott s, again another debate, genuine Dunlop’s ( $200 for all four) are so much cheaper, shocks, most people stay with the standard boge or Monroe replacements. You don’t want to stiffen the ride up to much.
I would think you should be able to remove the springs without to much trouble, especially if you release the shocks both sides.

If mine was on springs, I’m pretty sure I would of wiped it out by now, as Gilbert knows, the motorway junction ( m25 to m11) near me is a nasty one, a S shape with adverse camber, I’ve been round it at 80mph flashing some boy racer in his bmw to get out the way, on springs I don’t doubt it would be on its side, the ride is so much better, as your overhauling the system you should be pretty much trouble free for a while.
Re second hand nano evo, they do occasionally pop up on eBay, I got mine there, I’ve posted about cheap ones since, they sell quickly, especially if priced under £300. Keep your eyes peeled on both English and USA sites.

Hi mark, welcome to sanity, JMC is your man, look at what he owns.. he most probably know more about H&H than any of us.
Your find this site more relaxed than rrnet..
if your hoses aren’t pressurised and your not losing coolant, I’d say your head gaskets are ok, depending on how long the cars been sitting, 10 miles would barely warm the exhaust system up, in the cold weather here mine pours steam out the back, on petrol or lpg, I know 100% my gaskets are fine.

Looking at the link posted, I’d buy an original pipe ( even with postage) it’s not that much more.
Mine must of had it changed at sometime by the PO, it’s very plyable compared to some I’ve done.

I know what you mean about britpart, as I try to avoid as well, although I m more towards anything electronic, surely even they can’t f@#* up a rad, lol

I’ve had the same thing happen on a pug 405td many years ago, I would say your in the right ballpark for sure, as for it being the Orings it’s possible, on mine it was the cooler itself.
Hardest thing is getting the oil out of the cooling system, run some gunk ect through it, I also put a dishwasher tablet in the system, was a hell of a job, test the cooler before you do anything, a lot of work otherwise.
PBC 500230 is the oil cooler repair kit, it looks like island4x4 do it, new cooler, gaskets and O rings. £125.
Hmmm sounds like it will be the cooler itself !

I’ve always found that my best mpg is above 70mph, especially when I had the dse, I think on low revs our cars are always Labouring a bit, but once up on the revs they just purr along

Is the nano not showing anything ?
