Well, we know they come apart, 'cos one of Morat's had!

I've not heard of Impco, but I'm guessing it's a single point system?
Are you sure you've not got an air-lock in the reducer? If it's freezing up or not heating sufficiently it won't work properly. You've had the heads off, so drained/ refilled cooling system so that'd be a good place to start
BTW, what year is your P38?

RH one looks good, others will probably do.
By the way, I've marked every single component in my beautiful, fully functioning valve block with smart water, ultraviolet pen, radioactive trace, etched my postcode on and fitted a miniature tracker to each one, so don't even think about swapping anything :)

That particular one (the VSE), cleaned up and running correctly, with 170k miles would probably have a realistic asking price of somewhere around £4.5k over here and sell for around £4k.
I know of a few Batch 4 VSE's up for sale at the moment all asking in the range of £5500 to £15000 (!)
Perhaps it's time to start buying them up and containering them to the Phillipines.

Got to be great value- it's free on Kindle!
I'll download and digest...
How do you get your royalties from a free download George?

Well, you learn something new every day, I guess.
Apart from the SV plate there doesn't appear to be anything on it that differs from standard VSE (4) though, except the wrong wheels (should be Comet), steering wheel (should be dual tone wood/ leather) and maybe the gear lever- although knobs and steering wheels were a bit random by the time the line was closing.
Build sheet doesn't mention the DVD player or tints, so maybe that's where the SV contribution comes in.

The Vogue SE that I mentioned above pops up on the Bay

You do realised you’ve started the ball rolling now, within a year your garage or loft will be full of p38 parts,, 😂

Morat's loft will be full of everybody elses parts :)
Saves us having to store them, I suppose

Morat- just had a look at the NRVs in my "parts" valve block and the tips are pretty knackered so won't be much use to you. You'd better be nice to BPSM and get him to send you one of his.

Maplin sell silicone grease, about a fiver for a decent sized tube.

I wonder if it's another use for my everlasting tin of Red Rubber Grease?!

Now I understand Morat- you're building a lovely new P38 out of other people parts :)

Me?
Don't remember any valves- emergency or otherwise!

That seller rings a bell- can't remember if its a good or bad bell though.
Let me have a look at my EAS bits tomorrow and see if I've got an intact NRV...

That'll T cut out. Just a flesh wound...

Assuming you're paying next to nothing for it (you didn't mention how much!) then it sounds like a plan. Before you start to strip anything, plug a Nano in and test the cr@p out of all of the cars systems (latches, switchpanels, MAF and engine ancilliaries, EAS stuff- anything that won't take up much storage space) and strip all the good bits off.
Sell the BECM, ECU lockset and fob, sell the wheels and tyres, chuck your old engine in the back and get it weighted in for scrap. Something round £175 at the moment. Minimum hassle and you should break even or even make a few bob.
Unless you're a patient chappie, don't bother advertising that you're breaking it in the hope of getting a few more quid selling bits off it. You'll spend the next few weeks stripping off scrivets and wheel nuts and running to the post office for little real return.
Good weather this time of year to be doing it!!

for a set of 4. £3.99 plus £1 first class post
I imagine they'll be challenging to fit with exhaust etc in the way.

I'm with Gilbertd on his core plug diagnosis. It'd then run down and drip off the cross bolts.
From the pic above the core plugs are positioned handily above the cross bolts with a handy cast boss for fluid to run down

Any chance of a pic?
There is a block drain on both sides
Ringed in red in this pic I've found...

And it works!!!
Tested on my "stiff door locks" sticky and I can once again see the pictures.
Nice one Gilbertd

Sadly, the link you posted https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/firefo doesnt work :(
