Our 97 needs an exhaust as it's blowing just behind the drivers side rear wheel.
That's a favourite for taking out the line to the air bag!
It's interesting- I've never had QC issues with anything Nissens that I've used in the past,
Ah well, dash is out, matrix is out, just awaiting the warranty replacement, which hopefully will be here today. It's interesting that when you've had the dash/ heater out once, how fast you can do it the next time!
Car now sitting with an industrial dehumidifier in it, drying out the carpet- again...
EDIT- also a good opportunity to replace the solar sensor BTR9733 that hasn't worked since the last time I took the dash out!

Excellent- thanks Chris.
I sense a little "incident" happening when I empty the LPG tank :)
On the trail of the mystery rainwater leak into the drivers footwell I happened to flash my UV torch across the carpet and it lit up like a Christmas tree on the left hand side, right where the heater O rings would leak if I had any.
On closer examination the coolant is coming out from the heater housing, not the hose connections, so the 6 month old Nissens matrix has failed!
Naturally, when I fitted it, I did it with dash out, and didn't cut any of the metalwork in the way, so, unless I go into butcher mode, the bloody dash will have to come out again.
This car really is possessed by demons and is so high maintenance compared to the old blue one that just keeps on working. There is going to come a time where I just run out of patience with it- and that time's coming very soon.
Yes!
Midrange and tweeter are connected in parallel (with a capacitor incorporated into tweeter.)

Starting to think it might be valve gear noise, perhaps a summer time tear down is in order.
Yay! Summer Camp!
It isn't quiet, by any stretch of the imagination :)
Y piece on my car (the 02) is part of the cats, so I guess I'd have to replace the cats as well. Fortunately mine, although mild steel, had been replaced a few weeks before I got it.
That's the one Sloth.
It's a bit of a pain to fit together and have the tail pipes at the same height and sticking out the same distance without either hitting the panhard rod mount, spare tyre well or getting perilously close to the air bag. I used heat wrap where it passes the bag as insurance anyway.
Mounting bars on centre section required trimming. Supplied bolts didn't fit the flange at cat end.
I do feel that it was well worth the £250 though, and would buy another, if I needed one!
And when fitting, do the banjo fitting up fully with the pipe clamp bolts loose, then clamp the pipe
Try it with a couple of 16mm copper washers instead of the Dowty seals.
Just a thought. Have you checked that the banjo bolt isn't cracked or damaged?
You can, but you'll have to pay more for a 4 pin- either used or off Ashcrofts. Despite many internet fables to the contrary, I think we on here have concluded that LR never fitted a 4 pin front diff to production line P38s.
Having a spare diff on the shelf just in case is a bit of a luxury though.
Pleased you're sorted Morat. Don't courier the old one back until after Jan 1st, as I'd hate it to be lost in the pile of Christmas related parcel traffic that gets logjammed in the system this time of year!
No need to take inlet manifold off to do that hose, by the way. Just pop the Air Compressor off. Don't forget to take tension off belt first though :)
Another of those damp winter induced failures Chris. Well done!

I will fit it as already got both the both the propshafts off it can't be too much harder.
It can be a lot harder than removing the prop- that's the easy bit :)
You need to pull both front drive shafts partially out to be able to remove the diff. To do that you need to separate the hub from the carrier. They have a tendency to be rusted in and require a bit of brute force to get apart.
EDIT- although as yours has been out recently it shouldn't have had time to corrode back in.
Do your Halfords circlip pliers compress the new circlips sufficiently to fit them? If so, you can just mullah up the old ones getting them out with a pin punch/ screwdriver and pliers. No circlip pliers required!
I thought Chris offered you a diff from his garage "stock" supply? See #24 above...
Garmin CoPilot is my Android nav app of choice. Offline maps, frequent map updates, stable, ability to download POI files (useful for LPG stations).
You have to pay money for the app in the first place though.
No walnut trim for that car. It would ruin the comfortable ambience of the miles of grey plastic and few pieces of plastic wood trim that were the hallmark of the first HSE's.
It's her birthday in mid January and I'm thinking headlining replacement though.
Was having the usual crisis about what to buy the other half for her Christmas present. She likes her gifts to be thoughtful, useful and can't be fobbed off with a record token or expensive smell in a bottle.
Then, I found it. The perfect gift
It's thoughtful (well, I had to think about it), useful (she's forever moaning about how she can't open the cubby on her P38 because the release button's missing) and it's definitely not a record token or perfume.
I can't wait to see the joy on her face when she opens it on Christmas day.
