Marty:
I thought the same- probably all tied in to the same basic problem and eminently fixable with a multimeter, door latch or two, soldering iron and Nanocom.
In anticipation of buying a Thor, I've added the licence to the GEMS one on my Nano
Morat & Chris:
I saw that ad. Looks great and promises a lot, but it's got a £2500 reserve on it and it's a trader. Doesn't smell quite right either. Don't know why- can't put my finger on it.

Funny you should say that!
Just had a message:
" I ve have sent the buyer a message to cancel the transaction due to non contact as soon as sure he is not going to turn up I will send you a second chance offer "

It wouldn't surprise me if the local one falls through. Buyers often bid on something without looking at where it is. Then when they win and find it's hundreds of miles from them, they back out. In the case of Londoners, if they can't get to pick it up on the tube, it may as well be in a different country.

That's a great offer Chris, and much appreciated.
I think that it'd be too much of a risk that it's more than head gaskets and you'd end up with a car stuck in your garage needing the block refurbing. Time the engine has £2.5k stuck into it for a top-hat short motor, plus all of the incidentals that you really have to do (oil pumps, head work etc) it takes it to more than its worth to me. More to the point, it's more than the cash I have!
I'll wait to hear from the Norwich one, or, maybe, the local one will fall through.
Seller said he'd give me a call if the buyer fails for any reason, so you never know.
Thanks again Chris

I've asked just that! Awaiting a reply.

It'd stay black, for sure!
Getting some transport quotes now. Preferable to a day of my life and fuel for a 600 mile round trip to drag it back myself.

Thanks Chris. I've seen that one, but it didn't really hit the spot for me.
I'm thinking this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Range-Rover-P38-Vogue-SE-A-LPG-Sequential-4x4-Black-lightstone-/142145838197?
I chatted with the owner, before he pulled the sale cos he couldn't get it to start, and, with a respray, it'd be a nice package
Turner top-hat motor. Fresh trans, TQ and flex plate. Nice interior. He was going to put an MOT on it for the sale. Miles are high but only props axles and turny bits to worry about.
If I could get it cheap enough, as is, probably around £300 to get it trailered down here and it'd work for me.
It's in Norwich, which, practically, is too far for me to look at in the flesh though

Cool springs, a Playstation and the Sidney has stopped working!
Perfect :)

Beaten by £10.09 :(

Failed...
Ah well, back to the hunt

The tension is mounting, as is the price...

Could be.
Mind you if the height sensor really was worn, the EAS on that corner would do some interesting clown car impressions!
Damn. Bidding on the car has just gone up another £250 with 18 mins to go

Ta Chris
My 2 backups have both been withdrawn, the delicious red one and the County SE needing a respray, so it'll be back to hunting again if I don't.
Managed to get the MOT history, now that I have the reg number. Looks like a bit of fiddling to do from the advisories back in Jan:
NSR brake pipe slightly corroded at axle
OSR brake pipe slightly corroded at fuel tank and axle
NSF tyre close to limit (MOT was on the old wheels. Current tyres reasonable)
OSF tyre same
This ones interesting...
Brake linkage worn but not seriously weakened steering arm ball joint (3.5.1e)
What brake linkage do you have near the steering arm?! Maybe the tester just ran 2 separate items into 1 line. It has since had 2 new "track rod" ends so maybe that was it.
All 4 suspension air bags perished (rears now replaced)

I'm doing my best not to get excited, but seem to have reverted to kid at Christmas mode with the prospect of getting a new toy. About time I grew up. I spend lots of time buying with my head for the restoration stuff, and being totally hard nosed, but now I've decided to treat myself to a new toy, I've come over all amateur car buyer again.
BTW Morat- have you checked your PMs recently?
EDIT- you have :-)

Shortly after I bought the car I popped the plenum off, just for fun, and found a gauze sitting in there. At the time had no idea what it was or why it should be there. Wasn't until I looked at a spare MAF that it made sense. Probably should have a look at the current MAF, 'cos it certainly had a gauze when I fitted it. If it's gone, I'll know where to find it

No- not a setting I've changed, but I think I should set it :-)
Good thing is, with that stupid K&N filter on it, the bang goes straight out of the end so no collateral damage to inlet pipe.
Made me jump almost as much as the stupid pedestrian did. Two shots of adrenaline at my age could have been fatal.
Forgot to mention, the prospective addition to the family wasn't completely faultless- back bags are new but fronts are ratty. I'll remedy that straight away if I get it.

No need for a match. I've found a foolproof way to make it go bang
1.. fit single point
2.. floor it in sport down motorway on ramp
3.. jump on brakes to avoid pedestrian standing at side of on ramp
4.. floor it again
5.. BANG
:-)

Can't hear them with the bonnet closed. Just gave me a surprise when I opened it. Thought cams, followers and rockers were all shot to bits!
Never lived with sequential before. Single point is noiseless, apart from the occasional loud bang!

No chequebook! HEVAC display's dim but all pixels work.
Lines on your rear are probably just middle age creeping up on you. You could try cocoa butter :-)

Well, just been to see the Vogue in North Devon and it looks like it'll be "the one" if I can get it for what I want to pay.
Absolutely everything works on it (today anyway)
Seat Heaters
Cruise
Aircon
Both fobs
Nav
All screen elements front and rear.
Original High Level audio
Can't find much wrong with it apart from the boot lid dent, Tyres aren't my faves- a bit too roady and only about 5mm tread. A small hedge scratch on one side that'll clean up easily and the lpg injectors that click like a bunch of miniature castanets! The LPG is Zavoli multipoint sequential with a 95l toroid tank in wheel well. Anyone heard of it? Any good or extremely bad?
Now it's just down to the eBog luck of the draw...
