Hmm.

Seems I have found my issue with the blower motor!

I seem to have an issue opposite to most, in my case the Fuse for the motor was not in, so naturally I dug out a 30amp fuse and popped it in...

Couldn't really be that easy?

Well I jumped in and turned the key to position 1 and BRRRRR the blower on the Pax side lit up full blast blasting luckily it stopped with the ignition key pulled!

So to me it sounds like either a stuck relay or a dead blower resistor?

3.5 Bar for 45mins

No leaks that I could find.

I've added UV dye to the system so any future leaks should be apparent.

Managed time at work to vac out the refrigerant and full with Nitrogen, no leaks..

Once that was pulled I applied a vaccum to the system and it held that too..

So new R134a put in and everything seems good..

No idea why it was stone dead empty..

Odd.

I seem to recall you doing the HG's a few pages ago for an engine Oil leak?

Anyway great work, the heat would of immobilized me to be fair.

Found the issue ....

Topped off the system with a can of refrigerant and the compressor kicked on and the vent temp was 49f

which is nice.

Dead blower fan is a tad annoying, it is the Pax side fan I stuck my hand on it when the fans were on full blast and it was doing nowt..

Hello Gents a quick question of three!!

I have the dreaded book of doom on the HVAC and have had since I bought her, the issues I can think of are..

1 - very little air comes out the vents I'm assuming this is because of a dead fan

2 - All the settings work, even recirculate seems to function

3 - when it does sort of poof some air out the vents it is the same temp either side, so I'm assuming the blend motors are working'ish!

4- The book symbol doesn't seem to come on until the engine is running, then it pops up?

Does it do a self diagnostic every time its turned on and if it detects a fault it throws the book at ya?!

Would a dead fan cause a HVAC book and would this in turn prevent the A/C compressor clutch kicking on?

Changed the Oil in mine..

10w40 Comma XS and a Mann w930/20 filter.

I get near 290mi from 75 Litres of LPG which is fantastic IMHO..

£45 to fill my tank the last time I did it..

Rear panhard rod bushes would unsettle the rear if they're worn, I have the BP shocks and find the find very supple and the handling superb.

I'd be inclined to flush or replace the G/box oil cooler too..

Wouldn't want any of that old clutch material contaminating your new box..

Odd as you say the 6hp26 is quite robust, I drained some evil looking stuff from my HP24 even a tad chunky!

Some pillock opened their door on to my door handle with some considerable force I might add and have caved the door handle in to the door creating a nice crease..

The Door itself has a few electrical bits in it, does anyone know whether there is just one big loom plug to remove?

The big sticking point for me is batteries. My LEAF has 30kwh pack, about 25kwh usable and that gets me 75miles or so on a decent day (faster motorway driving etc) i suspect 25kwh in a P38 is going to get 50miles, or maybe even less, just with the relative inefficacy. Thus for it to be a useful vehicle i recon it'd want 60-70kwh minimum.

a 30kwh LEAF battery costs around 3 grand. a 60kwh LEAF pack is more like 10. 75kwh Tesla packs are 13+ which feels like a lot of money to be pouring into an old landrover.

Maybe in a few years battery prices will come down a bit and it'll look more sensible!

People have been saying battery prices will drop for years, still hasn't happened.

Doubt it ever will to be fair.

I guess a conversion is possible but it would render the car useless.

I don't understand why some are shocked at the price of fuel and then will happily pour a hilarious amount of money in to an EV conversion

It is. It is OldShep's old car. It was pretty tidy when he sold it but the guy that bought it neglected it and caused a few more problems by following the advice of 'experts' on facebook. And my sister lives 50 yards from the River Dee and they keep markers for high tides particularly when we have storms the last big one in 2013 . They are rare events and we still did not get even close to being flooded. If anything the sea levels are dropping where once we could get out on our boats on a 28ft tide now its barely possible and 29 ft is the norm. So if any global warming experts want to come down here I can prove to them sea levels are dropping not rising. Just more scaremongering

Mine have rotted off, the outrigger that comes off the chassis has snapped in half and the bolt on affair that holds the bumper is still attached to the bumper but not the chassis

My bumper is held up with zipties LOL
