Best bet cost to power /size is ford 302 it's smaller than rover but heavier BUT you can get serious power ---- Chevrolet not bad but weight can be--- depends which one used Craziest one I did was 455ci Buick in a Vauxhall Ventora That event rather well in a straight line

I personally think 5.4 must be at absolute limit ----- you forget ford V8 been raced and drag race even marine There's more tuning parts and cheaper than rover V8 ---- That's why stopped Rover V8 drag series ---- I wouldn't waste time with rover V8 for power as cost is crazy

Well you could use Jag V8 ---- it's a ford engine & supercharged --- or you could always use real steel stroker kit that's 5 liter

Sounds like the company in Witney all bespoke stuff too 🤔

It wasn't offerer on p38s but I did my rear doors and rear quarter windows not for gangsta looks it's to keep sun off granddaughter and stops people seeing what you got in there & makes Interior cooler when parked up on those rare sunny days ----

There's a company in Witney that does range rover classics prices start at 90k they got full order book

My vogue SE got cherry bomb in place of silencer and rear boxes replaced with straight pipe --- then cut restriction boxes off inlet pipe and blanked off holes ------ deep throaty sound and pulls almost as good as my Buick 300;

My 1962 ford consul had a stainless steel system but it sounded rather tinny so I made up a steel system for a deeper sound ---- I've noticed quite a few classic car owners fit stainless systems but I don't like the tinny sound myself ---- does stay shiny so looks nice The system on my consul been on there for 5 years and no issues --- yet

Then problem is to do with log wiring especially where piggy back to fuel injectors

So happy christeasterfire nite then 🤣🤣🤣🤣

AHH that's handy to know -- thanks for the information

Did front steering hubs on discovery 1 and noticed P38 easier to do brake rotors ---- same as discovery 2 td5 I think

That's a very good idea could save you money in long term mate

Mine had juddering brakes and when I took them off the front rotors were warped ---- I think it's when driven hard heavy braking then holding to stop causes heat hold wear pads are touching disc ---- only thing I can guess at Apart from abs sensor/pump issue as Gilbertd stated

Happy Easter to you all and your loved ones ---- this year can only get better for everyone --- summer soon and beating covid 19 slowly so should be able to get out and drive and enjoy your vehicle's again

Just as a thought maybe an admin could put this as a starred thread as am sure it's very useful to 99% of P38 owners -- just an idea

My vogue was at 13mpg round town on a motorway 25 average consumption according to the on board computer of 17mpg The P38 got enough gremlins without adding more like LPG in my opinion not only that it's hard to get around where I live

@symes to be honest it bad enough with my 2.5td let alone a V8 I'd be worried I'd blow the head on it lol

My pick up P38 got 4.6 Toyota diesel V8 going in it ---- built from scratch but Dyno,d 300 hp and vogue laid up till I can be bothered with it ---- just too much goes wrong with it to be reliable ---- don't need computer every week with a TDI vogue might become breaker yet

If I was offered another P38 I'd run away as soon as possible But at end of the day it's your decision

If you want to know what real pain is then drive a Series 1/2/3 land rover ----- not only bust ya kidneys out and so painfully slow it's laughable ----- yet for some reason cost a small fortune ---- I'd rather keep my cash and drive a disco/ P38/L322 to be honest P38 is more comfortable than L322 BUT it's all down to personal choice
