lol. Everyone's headlining will probably drop off in the heat.

it would seem i have all the available stations then. If I want the London ones that I like, i'll have to use my app and internet setup.

Went to mums for tea about 10 miles away and reception was pretty good all the way. There was 30 seconds or so where it had a bit of a warble but that was going down into a valley. Never actually lost signal completely. I might just get one of them Halfords aerials anyway. Does it come to bits for going through the car wash?

Edit. It does come to bits. I read the Halfords link.

Smashing.

Im not that clued up on DAB. Is it regional, same as FM, or should you get all available UK channels?

Thanks. If its no good, ill get one of them.

Did you drill your roof?

Dab is up and running.

25 quid kit. Little usb box and a stick on window antenna. Routed it under the carpets and up the back window.

I know Marty had said he had a spotty connection at times, so ill report back when ive had a few runs out.

By the way, offering free holidays to anyone bearing a Nanocom and builders trowel - ok the builders trowel is not necessary.

I have a builders trowel but no nanocom. Id like a week in June next year please. :-)

I wasn't sure what i needed so i just asked them to send me what i'd need for the job.

I thought it best to get the proper gear from them rather than just use a generic leather cleaner or degreaser. Paid £42 for the full kit which i didn't think was bad. Got a big bottle of dye which they said was enough for 2 front seats, degreaser, cleaner, conditioner, toner, lacquer and a couple of cloths. They even threw in a leather scented magic tree. lol.

Which lacquer did you use?

They sent me satin in the kit but i'm not 100% sure it shouldn't have been matt

really?

mine idles at about 760. when i was adjusting the lpg it didn't want to go any lower or it would begin coughing and stall.

i think 700rpm is a bit low for idle.

looks great. Did you use the crack filling stuff first?? I imagine the piping is a right nightmare.

My seat is pretty good. its just the bolster really. Not particularly worn away, but quite misshaped and soft. Passenger seats are usually in decent nick compared to the drivers so i thought i'd try get hold of a good seat base. There's one at my local scrappy but he wont sell it to me separate from the rest of the interior. Gonna go back and see if he'll do some cash and a swap for mine.

yeah. Looks mint now. Proper laborious masking up the steering wheel though. And to make things worse, i told the father in law, if mine turned out ok i'd do his. Rod for my own back! LOL

Headlining is the next major job.

My drivers seat although pretty good, could be better. So i'm on the lookout for a really good passenger seat base to replace it with.

Was gonna knock off for the day but the door armrest was annoying me and i couldn't leave half a job. So i did that too.

Productive day methinks!

Orangebean

Did your colour match spot on?

Did you buy toner to go with it?

Are different leather surfaces in your car a slightly different shade?

Sorted the handbrake sleeve. T'was indeed stiff to get off. Looks better painted.

Inspired by Orangebean, i ordered some gear from Liquid Leather.

Gear knob was a bit shabby chic and the steering wheel just plain shabby. I've posted pictures so Orangebean believes it happened. :-)

I'd actually degreased and cleaned when i took these pictures. It was a bit worse before.

Took me absolutely ages to mask up. Might seem overkill, but i decided that i would get the compressor and mini spray gun out. So to avoid painting my dash and everything around it, it seemed necessary.

I applied some dye neat with a sponge to the really worn patches to give them a sporting chance. Then i sprayed the whole thing about 7 times with a watered down mix. I'm pretty pleased with the results!

Think i might need to spray the handbrake sleeve too as its now the black sheep of the car. Anyone know how to get it off? I can't see any screws.

Lol. You are prepared to go to extraordinary lengths to get a badge arent you.

I did that. They are domed now but i dunno how big a dome it should be. My dome may be too big or too small.

Lol. Gonna cost £8.10 for 6 washers including shipping.

Seems a bit steep. Ill have a look in the scrappy first and see if theres any on the cars in there. If not, i suppose £8.10 would be a small price to pay for potentially silent motoring.

Ive had a think and when i looked at my washers in the past after Gilbert pointed out about the dome, 5 of my washers wernt domed. They appeared to be ordinary ones. So i added a dome to them. Is the size of the washer and dome crucial for sound deadening?

Where might one obtain proper domed washers for the job.
