I did try with my karcher, think I was wetter than the car afterwards, lol

The rubber gasket rarely fails, it must of been off at some point, check through rave , there's a few points you put a spot of rsv, I'm amazed you found anywhere to give the underneath a clean, I've been trying to get mine steam cleaned but no luck, I've not got any leaks, just want it cleaned off ,,

Before you jump at the sump gasket, make sure it's not coming from the oil cooler pipes. They have Orings at the end of them, easy to change oil filter end. I would again scan higher up to make sure it's not running down.. valley gasket rubbers can be deceiving

Why are you taking the manifold off, lift bonnet all the way ( stays off, and fold down factory stays on hinges) you can see all 4 bolts , just slide the coils up and out, I have lpg pipes across mine and still do it that way

It may not be the rocker covers, how bout the valley gasket, it's a common fault, hard to see though without popping the coil pack out.. if it is the rear main seal there is stuff to renovate seals on the market, although I've never used any..

Made it out to France 😀I'm contemplating a breakdown before starting the return trip!

More seriously the CO-OP sold me breakdown cover with recovery to the UK for £56 when green flag and the others flat out refused European cover.

Right, time to find a beer 😀

OMG ! Buying breakdown cover, your anger the p38 gods for sure 😤
Just kidding, enjoy your break,

This post looks legit... except for the clearly spammy link in both this and your other post...

What gives?

Funnily enough. I was thinking exactly the same thing, sure I've read that post elsewhere..

Here we go again ( this car is testing my patience) ..
Seems as though I have a whine from the gearbox, I'm thinking it's the transfer box as that seems to be the norm,, my question is, is it normally the viscous that go ?
If so has anyone ever replaced the bearings in one ?
This is the last thing I'm doing on this car, next problem it goes up for sale.
I've got a engine that is so quiet, the lpg injectors are noisier,
suspension that never sags,
everything works as should, ( even the heated seats)
I've done so much and still it wants to throw other problems at me,
i think this p38 should have an exorcism or something, it's definitely possessed by the p38 gremlin,,

Ermmm, can't remember if you can just take the outside trim without removing the inside trim, its basically yank at it, been a while since I replaced my broken glass

If you find tps at fault, pretty sure I've got 2 of them floating about, both genuine.
Just let me know, can always pop it in the post..

Super, I think I've got one of those cps sensors in my garage ( genuine).
I'll check tomorrow and drop you a pm,, no use to me, your welcome to it..

Getting married tomorrow so unless I have time in the morning, the 12v wire switcheroo will have to wait.

Thanks for the help. :-)

Maybe a good idea to not play with the car on your wedding day,
good luck, have a good day..

Well that is handy info. Cheers!

I'd checked the sunroof but it was all dry up there. Blasted some air down the front drains just in case but couldn't reach the rear ones.

Careful blowing air down them, there's a joint that would pop apart if there blocked

You can have the Houses of Parliament, the outer Hebrides seems a good place for it..

RR, if you got water through your light, it's either the joint on roof silicon has come away, or sunroof. The roof joint has been covered here before, OB is the man to give you the link

It's a take the fans out job, I sealed them In with plenty of silicone, as for the plenum sponge, I found that a fine wire mesh sprayed black lasts for ever, memory serving me right, I permanently fixed some mesh over the extra holes with a few blobs of gripfill,,

So why don't they all leak where mine does?!

Believe me when I say your be surprised how many do leak there, I've sealed up 4 of them out of 10 p38s.
I think it's down to how it's been parked over the years.
Yet another engineering wonder from LR..

Excellent, I'm down for one to keep in the glove box

I feel for you mark, you've practically rebuilt that car,, from reading back years ago the fan seal was a leak to look for, hope this is the last thing you have to deal with for a while..

I'm dithering with the idea, as I have access to diagnostics that haven't let me down yet,, can we purchase more software at the same time, as being locked to Bosch or gems doesn't appeal to me..
