the theme from deliverance playing in my head now.

Hmmmm ! That's a hard one to pin point, I've done all 3 on mine ( prop, wheel bearings and diff change ) only way to eliminate the prop is remove and go for a spin, but I'm more towards diff noise, my prop was clicking more than humming, but it's one of those dilemmas, when changing the diff, do you replace the wheel bearings ? Sometimes cheaper to grab a good second hand axle complete..

Hi tom, from the other site I've seen that RR owners in oz get ripped off for any spares. Your on the right route with avoiding the Brit parts, if you can get bearmac they seem to have a good name. While your at the front of the engine, if it's a petrol v8 I'd change the chain and guides as they seem to be a favourite, diesels I'm not up on, will have a search and see what appears..

George, take your front prop off and you can play slide around, lol, when mine broke and I had rear wheel drive only, my other half refused to get in after I took it round a roundabout sideways, who needs snow !

Merry Christmas to everyone, hope you have a great day

I'd have it apart first, check out valve seats ect, it would be unusual for a block to fail on 7 out of 8 cylinders, rings, shells, even getting a few second hand heads, would still be cheaper than a second hand engine you know nothing about..

Saw one a few months back, didn't mention as I don't like them at all, the sport is squashed enough, then they come up with super squashed. And put a Range Rover badge on it, if I had to choose a convertible, it wouldn't be one of those,,

Mine only takes the smaller ones, same thing,, maybe it's a Thor thing ? gonna have a look at my spare heads and will report back..

Only just read the rest of this thread, I'm with some of the others on this one, panhard bushes, don't go with polys, stick some of the original type in, even the Brit part ones seem ok, I've fitted a few sets with no come backs, same symptoms, feels like you've hit a rut in road, or a large puddle, starts pulling either direction till a sharp jult is given, then steering ok again, it will get worse as you go, might even give you creaks and clunks when turning the steering from standstill,

Think your jumping the gun with rings and shells, it's most probably from the breather pipe, when it's together and your using, if it's not using oil then that will confirm it's only the breather, make sure the cpv is still in the rockers, also check there clear. Get it back together and enjoy it for the mo

Jeez, I've heated them up before and used 2 sockets ( 1 bigger, 1 correct size to push) and a mother fecker g-clamp, also done same method using a big bench mounted vice. Improvisation does work 😁Don't need to spend big dollars

As long as you use decent poly bushes you shouldn't have a problem, mine had the cheap yellow ones fitted, which promptly got changed, they were less than 6 months old, but some were shot already, I used the blues/purple ones to replace them, no issues since

It will only be the brushes in the regulator, just replaced mine, cost a fiver

I agree with Tony, unhook the bonnet stays, you can then look down on the coil pack, it's definitely a job with the coil pack out, I tried with mine in situ, the car won that battle, hands like shovels don't help, lol
If LPG hoses along the firewall like mine, just get a few cable ties and use wipers to hold them up

I'd 2nd all the head gasket diagnosis's, not a hard job, more a pain in the a***, once done you know you've got lots more miles without that worry.
The one I'm doing at the moment is the worst yet, took out at least 12 litres of mixed oil and water, is this one destined to be saved ? Can't answer that yet !

I've not replied, cos I get in, turn heater on, if it works I'm happy, I wear boots all year so feet are always warm, I leave mine on demise, apart from once a month I cycle it through all the other settings to keep motors free

I bought a set off eBay, heavy duty, fitted well, and no problems, in fact they're doing great, when I saw the price of magnacores I nearly feel over, think were getting the pee takien out of us,,

Richard, You sure that's your car, looks good mate, thought you might have gone the whole hog and had orange stripes and flashing lights,, 😁

Aha, the BMW pressure valve, I take it you've got either rough idling , and, or oil leaks. If it's as a preventative measure then I'm impressed. It's something I can change if needed, along with a fluid change on the gearbox. Drop me a PM and I'll give you my number

Baseball bat is very much out, seems the moron who was meant to deliver to me, is none other than the same.. uses lots of different names to get jobs. He got a bit fluttery when I pointed out that his lorry wasn't in Birmingham, but in Devon, and I'm nowhere near as patient as you are, plus I'm just down the road.. his bad back will be the least of his worries, hate lairs !
