I have been on p38 forums quite a while and I have never heard anyone say their gearbox ECU has failed. They are usually very reliable.
I know the transfer box ECU can fail. It is quite common for the high/low solenoid to seize up through lack of use and take out the ECU.
Can't see what the logic is saying "fuel out of phase or pump/injectors". Maybe he was just guessing.
The MAF also has an important role in gear changes.

If it has one ;)

How do you get a Halfords trade card?

Hi j

Thanks dave

A little more info would help as I would also like to get rid of hot start if possible

That's cos folk are stupid.
I've lost count of stuff that's sold for more than new

I've got £20 eBay sensors on mine atm. Working fine so far.

Mine has an aftermarket charging system with genuine lr voltage sensitive split charge relay near the battery.

https://www.google.com/search?q=voltage+sensitive+relay&oq=voltage+se&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l3.3670j0j7&client=ms-android-samsung&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8

A bit odd but works.

sounds pretty similar in terms of location, obviously no intercooler, but its in the same gap between the condenser and rad.

The v8 has its gearbox cooler mounted below the oil cooler, but i think the diesels have the gearbox cooler elsewhere as the intercooler sits there instead.

Autobox cooler sits under bumper in front of the left front tyre. Also a bitch to do.

Much better.
Not sitting twisted anymore.

One of the problems along with worn foam is the paper covered nylon stringers. The have become detached from the end bits meaning the seat loses support.

Yes, it's held on with 4 bolts.
Never mind you have to take whole seat and frame apart lol.
Out for a test drive now.

Ah, so at least 17 years for filter?
Wow. Possibly got moisture in fluid causing it to rust?

Has the filter still got a very fine mesh visible inside?

Airtight system for starters.
No air bubbles in the clear pipe after the fuel filter.
Leak off pipes not leaking, they should be 3.2mm not 3.7 like most sell.
Return pipe from fip not leaking.
In tank pump working.

The plastic connections on the fuel heater/filter head can leak allowing air in. O rings normally. They go brittle so be gentle.

I have a non return valve in the line between filter and fip.
