As it was the RH head you had off I assumed you hadn't touched the connector behind the LH head. That one is often forgotten about but it's pretty damned important.

Yeah, but I put that about a year and 22,000 miles ago, I suppose it's about time I should do it again.....

Less of the Richard_G please, I only ever used that on RR.net as they banned Gilbertd for life.....

I suppose they are hobby cars in a way, you ideally need to be able to work on them yourself and keep on top of things. Then they become less of a hobby and more of a car you can use. I certainly use mine, everyday car (just got back from doing the weekly food shop) and it's been to Latvia and the south of France and back in the last couple of months too. My MoT (the annual safety test we have in the UK) is due at the end of the month so I had a good look around it last weekend. I've got a rear axle oil seal to replace but that was all I could find. Not bad for a 4.0 litre with 380,800 miles on the clock.

He's never posted though and there was some discussion if it really was him or just somebody using his name. But for a while it did seem pretty obvious he was keeping an eye on what was being said here.

Quite a number of people realised that Richard_G and Gilbertd were the same person. I mean, how many people can there be that live in the east of England, run an ex-police P38, does all his own maintenance and regularly drive around Europe in it?

Dunno, ask Chris, he managed to put some smiley faces into a post so I'm sure he can do thumbs up too. Surprising really as he uses an iPad and it took him a week to work out how to post pictures.....

Glad you got my invite, join the exodus. See this thread here https://rangerovers.pub/topic/1470-welcome-to-the-refugees-from-rr-net

Yes, it takes 2.4 litres from completely empty and 2 litres if it's been drained. It's probably very close to full but I bet you spilt some, I have every time I've tried to fill it.

That's an interesting one. All the washer pipework is on the underside of the bonnet. If it was getting in through the screw holes in the plenum, another common place for a water leak, it would be nearer the edges and would also come in when it rains.

Not on here, over there...... Adblocker shows how many ads it has blocked on each page, none at all on here but at least 10 on every page on RR.net.

If you think about how the suspension and steering is configured its obvious. As the suspension changes height the panhard rod pushes the axle from side to side but the steering box is on the chassis so doesn't move with the axle. It's the same thing that makes the rear squirm to one side if you go over a speed hump too fast.

Only very, very slightly. Mine is straight in normal height and only out by a fraction in motorway. Road camber and crosswinds make more of a difference one way or another.

That's the one thing I haven't complained about as I don't see them. Adblocker for Firefox is a wonderful thing, blocks 10 or 11 ads per page......

On a P38 Gearbox Fault will come up on the dash if the battery is a bit low. If the voltage drops below 10V while cranking the engine, the gearbox ECU flags it as a fault. So probably nothing to worry about if it has been standing around not being used.

They claim that they are working on it and the 'wiki' will be re-introduced when it has been configured for the new format. So whether that will happen or what they will do to it is anyone's guess. However, if you have a look at post #40 here https://rangerovers.pub/topic/1453?page=2

Absolutely everything except for the forum and even that is currently unsearchable. So all the stuff John Brabyn created and all of the subsequent common issues how to guides have gone. It would be a very long list......

Ahh yes, I remember it well. Actually I don't and couldn't have told you which of the many pubs we visited that night but I do remember some of it. I've also just realised how time flies. That was when I was in Glasgow working at the Commonwealth Games and the Indian followed by a pub crawl was to celebrate my 59th birthday. As I've just had my 64th, it was 5 years ago now......

Mine was the same initially. I'm using Firefox and I used the View, Zoom Out function to show more topics but then when I looked at a post the text was so small I could barely see it so had to go back to a sort of mid point. Admittedly, there's still acres of balnk space either side. It's still crap but just not quite so crap.

Well done. Putting stuff back together is dead easy and much quicker than getting it apart. Even if you decide to polish it all before putting it back on.

Particularly not for a 25 year old car.

Dual pedals would probably be doable but not sure how you'd be able to link in two steering wheels.
