Shed envy!!

Feedback via Gilbert was that he could really see the difference between Orangebean's lights and my stock setup.

Well, I enjoyed that :) It was so hot I'm bringing a sun hat next time to protect my shiny pink hair and I think Orangebean did actually have a touch of sun stroke (I was watching you quite carefully at one point!) It was pretty tiring working in that heat but lessons were learned and we did reach a decent standard once we'd worked it out. I'm probably going to have nightmares about those grab handle recesses :(

Hopefully you've all eaten something since lunchtime so it's too late to blame me for any food poisoning and everyone seems to have got home safely!

I'm really chuffed with my new headlining and it has passed inspection from Mrs Morat whose only comment was "Who had the dirty fingers?" oops. I guess the cleaning kit needs to come out. Never mind, eh :)

I'm not going to tempt fate, but the Duchess has been parked outside since about 2100 (there was a crash on the M42) and she hasn't complained. That's all I'm saying. Thanks Marty! and thanks for organising the headlining kits. They really are top notch.

I hope Sloth got his suspension working properly, I felt bad leaving when it started looking fixed but the barby was packed away so I was no longer useful. Thanks everyone for bringing food and buns, and I think we can safely say that Waitrose mineral water tastes exactly the same as any other but their instant light barbeque coal is streets ahead of Tesco.

Best of luck to everyone :)

Morat, I think know I know what the issue is with the latch - is it saying the door is open when it's not? Can't quite remember... but if that's it, then I can fix that in about 20mins.. it will be down to the the mounting holes drilled for the new switches. I'll whip it out and put an extra pin in, as that will stop and flex in the mounting for the new switches.

Yup, that's it but it's intermittent so the alarm goes off at random moments. If we can investigate, that's fantastic.

Here's a long shot - does anyone have any roof clips for a dog guard? (preferably lightstone). I've got the guard but not the clips. They're not expensive but I've left it too late for delivery before Summer Camp. It's no big deal but it might be neater than putting in a new headlining and then cutting into it.

I'm packed now - just waiting for my wife to come home and take over the child minding :)
I'll be heading down from my mates in Quorn so a couple of hours away in the morning.

and in other news, I'm hoping to sort the Headlining, Bug Marty about the LH-F door switch and maybe have a look at the burn on my passenger seat but that's only if Orangebean has time because it's hardly a showstopper.
If anyone has time to drive my car over poor surfaces and give a second opinion on the tank slappers, or even help get it up in the air and have a look underneath, I'd be grateful.

Could we have a final roll call so I can plan the cooking?

LPGC?

Pumps do definitely vary but I've never heard of one filling the tank completely full. LPG gauges are all crap in my experience, everyone uses their trip meter instead. 180 miles is about my record for a 70 litre fill, one day I'll get round to taking it back to Simon for a tweak after the new O2 sensors and MAF.

You have to soak the Zebra in salt water for a couple of days first ;)
The mirrored headlining sounds great!

That just needs a zebra skin dash and wheel cover to finish it off :)

Time for the EKA dance on the driver's door. I hope the microswitches are good in that door or you'll need to get the BECM to Marty :(
Cut and Paste from another forum for an early model P38:

Well, ile tell you all how i did mine.
lets say my code was 2 4 6 8 ok.
Your actual code now becomes "1 2 4 6 8 1"

Take your time entering the code, there is no rush at all, just make sure that you enter it correct.
Ok, lets go.
First, enter the first postion being number 1, enter this by locking the rangie ( to the left ) none of this four times stuff, it is not needed.
Then enter the second number. being no 2.
so two turns to the right.
Enter the next to the left, so 4, left 4 times.
Enter the next to the right, so 6, right six times
Enter the next to the left, so 8, left eight times.
Enter the final number 1 that will activate your C/L and open all doors to the right & disable the alarm system, you are now in.
So, ile break it down.

The code is 1,2,4,6,8,1 we enter it like this.

L1, R2, L4, R6, L8, R1

Congrats!
I hope you're preparing the ground for your article on P38 headliner replacement :)

maybe we could fill it full of charcoal and put a grill over the top.....

hotel! You know it makes sense...

Will Dina be coming this year or has she seen enough of men looking at old cars and scratching their heads? :)

I'll have a nanocom and socket set, I'll bring some disposable gloves and whatever tools I see lying around.
More importantly I'll bring the barby and some charcoal for Saturday (and Sunday?) When did we barbeque last time? I think lunch is probably the main one as we'll all be at the workshop, I'd suggest the pub in the evening unless the weather is perfect and/or we're doing an all nighter. Happy either way though.
I'll bring some food but if you've got any favorite food/sauces etc - please do bring them along.
Gilbert, did you bring paper plates last time? because that was inspired. I doubt anyone wants to wash up.

Bog roll is a good idea, also some shower gel/swarfega/soap. Going on last year, a first aid kit would be good idea too. There's only so much you can do with gaffer tape and kitchen roll!
I'm booked in the Premier Inn Swindon North, as is OB and possibly Gilbert. There seems to be a pub nearby.... and so is Marty's second home, the one that has a bedroom as well as a workshop :)

Welcome! :)
Best of luck with your Rangey, looking forward to seeing the pics.

(if you're unlucky)

I reckon that once you factor in your time at 50p an hour you'll make out like a bandit on this beauty!

All credit for saving it though :)

Payday on Monday! I'll send some electronic money over first thing.

Yeah the roadholding is great!

The forum doesn't seem to like portrait shots, and autorotated that one.
