Thanks Morat!!
Engine bay is coming long
Managed to drag all the moisture out of the front carpet foam..
Quite ingenious, well not really!
Cheap though!!
Also replaced the bulbs in the Fogs.
might brighter! ;)
P38 is a special market.
The youngest is 18yrs old now..
Not many rush out to buy 'em!
I did initially think the same Gilbertd
Research showed exactly what you're saying, to which i agree..
However for trips and giggles i decided to go with the Owners manual, 5w40 "allegedly" is the best of both worlds.
So i'm gonna find out!
She sounds ok, apart from a dicky idler and alternator, grumbling at me.
A start after 4 weeks sitting, the ticking only lasts for 4 seconds whereas before it would go on for minutes '_
SR.
I'd hazard it would be more efford ripping out the carpet to get to the metal to cut..
Just drop the tank..
Piece of pish in reality.
Changed the Oil.
Found it.
Not too bad considering,.
I used this kit.
Tappet tapping has gone now which is nice..
Ahh..
Nice/
Ahh right..
Would the leak be in the valveblock if it doesn't sag when stationary for a period of time?
She will rise quickly, but it seems to take a while for it to go up, the lights flash, then suddenly she shoots up/down.
The old bus had been sat for 1 1/2 years on the bump stops so i'll have to expect a few niggles, a good rebuild should see her good.
Thanks
H
I've seen a few "what have you done" threads on some other Forums, so i thought i'd start one on here.
Today and tbh since last week i've seen trying to deal with the water ingress.
And have been playing round with the interior and in particular the leather seats, trying to get them clean..
when i picked it up... ^^^b
After 3 years and alot of scrubbing!
'tis getting better!
And all back together, Beige carpet wouldn't of been my first choice if i had spec'd it!! ;)
Carpet is alot less Yellow!!
But it is ridiculously easy to get dirty again..
I don't think the PO had ever heard of mats LOL
H
I noticed this thread has a Star near it..
Does that mean it's a Sticky?
My old P38's Air suspension seems to have a mind of its own..
The odd thing is..
You can leave her a month on any setting and she won't sag, i don't think there is a leak,.
It's like she's constantly trying to self level..
Any ideas H
Is it the bottom of these and the pollen filter lids that need sealing, usually?
Or is it under this, there seems to be a rope like seal under there which seems to be in good nick?
Can't take the screws out so rather limited TBH!! ;)
H
my 4.6 thor has 125k bought with 118k.
The leccy system let it down first, engine is sweet as a nut..
It has piles of service history.
Original Headgaskets ticks over silently etc
She's had LPG on her since 2003 and with 100k under its belt with LPG it's quite a clean engine.
Mine did something similar I just thrashed it between P and 1 repeatedly, that did the trick ;)
What happened with this project?
Looked interesting!
H
Just a few of her currently

If you click on my username on the left of this post, you'll see the list of what I've replaced between 98000 and 130,000 miles - some might be on your list too!
Oh my.. "whistling"
I think my list is going to be around that length!!
Ahh thanks..
Might clean mine!!
The Old beast has been sat a while, and needs some work,
Being the Guru's and lets be honest Geniuses you are,
What would you refurb/replace to make it reliable?
she has knocking on the door of 130k.
Henry..
