I have left a message and invited him (Beady) to join the forum. Sorry, if I have stepped on anyone's toes and not asked first.
He has my email address so I hope I get a response.
Another source of information, assuming he is willing to get involved, is Collin from Blackbox Systems who is already a member on here.
I have asked them to knock it off the order.
I will stick with the BMW one:
If you are talking about the prop shaft bolts, as Tanis8472 mentioned, there is a special tool:
https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/propshaft-socket-drive-land-rover-laser-6151-da1119-ba3138-p-37830.html
Yes, it is thin walled, so it fits over the nuts.
It is still a pain though. The bottom ones and those within reach are easy enough to remove but you can't get to the bolts higher up without rotating the propshaft/wheel and you can't do that with the handbrake on. So you need to jack up one wheel, support it on an axle stand, take the handbrake off and rotate the wheel. Then put the handbrake back on before you crawl underneath.
I have already added it onto my order, so hang fire guys. I will let you know if it fits. If it is the wrong one, I will send it back.
It does say it fits all Range Rover 2.5 diesel and V8 models.
My existing BMW expansion tank is wired to an LED in my dash panel. I used a redundant window in the black panel at the bottom of the dash.
Had to reverse the action of the sensor with a relay since the action is high level normally closed/low level normally open. The opposite way you want it.
I have previously posted a mod I did to my car which involved fitting a BMW E34/M3 coolant expansion tank. The tank is almost the same but it has the advantage of having a level sensor fitted. Can't recommend more strongly having a coolant level sensor. It saves a lot of grief.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I was just on the Island4x4 webside ordering yet more bits and low and behold, someone now makes a level sensor which directly replaces the screw cap on the p38 OEM tank. The BMW tank mod is no longer needed, stay with the p38 tank.

Can't go wrong at that price even if it is Britpart.
Well done gucci88. Car is fantastic.
We had a clear winner on here before regarding who had the best p38. It was Robbo1. Now he has serious competition for that title.
Thanks for sharing your story with us.
It sounds like your xy switch may be the cause of some of your problems at least.
Worth checking the adjustment is correct first.
The A/C drain tube is just above it and the switch can fill with water if the breather tube is not connected.
The transfer box needs to be switched between high and low ranges periodically. I do it every month or two when I remember. I run the car in low range round the block. Stopping and switching between high and low range. It keeps the mechanism free. If it hasn't been used for a bit, it can jam and burn out the solenoid. That in turn will eventually take out the ECU with it.
My delivery from Island4x4 arrived today. Can't praise the guys enough.
Shop and garage are shut down but one guy still sending out orders.
Says he does not confirm the order unless he takes a walk into the warehouse to see if they physically have the bits first.
Changed pollen filters, now that I have them. New batteries in my key fob. Nothing went wrong.
Brake fluid change tomorrow if it does't rain.
Started a major service on the car. It didn't go well.
Parked the car on the front grass. Put it on high and left the engine running to warm up.
Crawled underneath with a B&Q bucket and undid the sump plug. Got hot oil all down my arm and all over the grass, or what's left of my front lawn. Then lost the sump plug in the grass somewhere. Had to unscrew another from an old sump I have. While I was underneath, I noticed a slight leak from the rear crankshft oil seal.
Tried to fit a new oil filter but it wouldn't seat right down into the filter housing. The way it was manufactured, a slight excess of filter fabric was restricting the central tube. I had to trim it with a Stanley knife.
Came to change the fuel filter. Forgot to fill it with diesel before fitting it. It then took an age for the fuel to get pumped through. Cranked the car for several minutes and eventually it coughed and spluttered into life. Noticed the engine mounts look shot. Added them to the list.
Found I had no pollen filters. Went online and placed an order with Island4x4 including a few other bits. Online order didn't seem to go through. No confirmatory email. Nobody answering the phones.
Brake fluid change next.
This is the type of gel badge I mean:
I just googled it and there are quite a few places that do custom badges. Here are a couple I found:
I changed relay 17 which was causing the ABS pump to click on and off.
Car is parked up on the front grass. Now the weather is getting a bit better and I am self isolating with a lot of time on my hands, I am planning on a few jobs on the car.
Full service, change all the fluids first. Change the transfer box just for the hell of it. I have a brand new one that has been under my workbench for several years. I keep banging my leg on it. I need to change the epicyclic gears from manual to auto first. Maybe change the crankshaft oil seal as well. Refit the winch after some welding mods. Refit bull bars and spotlights.
Buy a panel beating kit and knock out a few dents. Tidy up the bodywork. Have a go at a new headlining, it has gone droopy.
Strangerover:
make a call to Dave Ashcroft at Ashcroft Transmissions. He is very helpful and knows everything there is to know about the 4HP24 box.
Do it under the guise of pricing the options available. He does not bullshit or try to sell you something you don't need.
His advice is always change the MAF first before you go any further.
You can get badges printed and encapsulated with a clear domed resin finish which I think would look very similar.
Match the fonts and do the art work yourself maybe?
Relay replaced and problem solved.
Thanks Richard. I had the fuse box lid off and the sound wasn't coming from the relays.
However, just in case, I have ordered PRC9565 from Island4x4 anyway @ £33.
It was more from underneath. I was 90% certain it was the pump but couldn't hear anything with the stethoscope.
Maybe the faulty relay is switching the pump on and off rapidly?
Have disconnected the battery in the meantime.
New one on me. Car parked up and locked on my drive and suddenly it generates a loud continuous clicking noise.
This is with everything turned off and no key in the ignition.
I investigate under the bonnet, check relays etc and the noise seems to be from the vicinity of the ABS pump. Quite loud. Under the fuse box but difficult to pinpoint exactly, even with a mechanics stethoscope.
I turn on the ignition, ABS pump starts and the clicking stops. The pump runs for maybe 35 to 40 secs before it builds pressure and cuts out. So I suspect the accumulator needs changing. It has lasted 20 years.
Car drives and brakes OK. If I lock it again it is quiet for a few hours but the clicking returns. Presumably as the brake pressure drops.
Question ... what can the clicking be with everthing turned off?
All autos are like that. It is only a problem if you do it the wrong way round.
If you park on a hill, hold on footbrake, leave in D, put handbrake on as stated, then put into park and finally ignition off.
Wrong way is hold on footbrake, put into park, turn off ignition and take foot off footbrake. This way the transmission rolls back and takes the backlash out of the gears. That is why it is difficult to get it out of gear. The cogs are holding the weight of the car.
My morning routine: dump, wipe - no more than 2 sheets, jump in shower. Regular as clockwork. A bog roll lasts me for weeks. I could cut it down to 1 sheet I reckon when push comes to shove or when the shit hits the fan.
Women are the main users of bog rolls. Wipe every f***ing thing.
When I were a lad ..... outside bog in a back to back terraced house with sheets of newspaper on an old rusty nail. I survived, just.
Some other things are getting hard to get as well. I do a bit of wood turning and I can't get dust masks now.
Hand sanitiser is another thing. My grandkids are always snotting on me and I wanted a few pocket sized containers.
Can't get them so I have found a DIY method on YouTube.
It is a drain point if water enters the wheel well. It might fill up full if wading in deep water.
No longer available I think unless a dealer has old stock.
I fitted a rubber blanking grommet instead.
Came across this:
M57 swap into a p38 camper. Looks like he used the manual gearbox. Made his own BECM !
